  1. I have way too many cabinets, and everywhere I play these days seems to have their own decent bass cab in-house at the venue.  So, selling a few things off and will put the money into some other gear.

I have 2 GK RBH 410 cabs, and 2 GK RBH 115 cabs.  You're welcome to take one, two, three or all four.  :)

    RBH 410's are £250 each

    RBH 115's are £200 each

These are heavy, so you'll either have to collect in Sheffield or meet me somewhere within ~1 hour of driving.  GK RB bass amp head was sold a long time ago... after I switched to using mostly Mesa stuff.

not wanting to stoke anyones GAS, I did something similar, although the Polar White lefty Player P-Bass doesn't come as standard with a maple neck so was a retrofit with a genuine Fender replacement. Stock pickguard changed from white to black as well. The one thing I found was unlike fenders of old which seemed to have neck pockets cut in varying degrees of accuracy, the modern player bodies and necks seem to be a very snug fit. It needed a gentle amount of persuasion to install and once the screws were gently tightened up, its one of the best Fender neck/body fits i've ever experienced. The neck was perfectly true and even with the stock bridge, the string and neck alignment is excellent. The satin finish on the back of the maple neck is super smooth as well and a joy to play. It's also much slimmer than my USA standard bass.

    Beautiful bass!  Nicely done! :)

My white player has moved to a new home, so I’m left with this black beauty as my sole remaining bass. Modded with CS62 pickups, KiOgon wiring loom, Fender P / Tele knobs, and a 3-ply black plate. Black, black & maple: OOF!

Is that a maple fingerboard glued on a maple neck, or is it all cut from one piece?

Ohhhh, an ebony board on a black P? I like that... 🙂

But now I'm also thinking about buying the all-white player series P bass with the maple neck.  Then I get to experiment with both fingerboards... and I could also then swap the pick-guards between the two basses.  Black with white / white with black.

Oh dear... what is wrong with me. :( GAS strikes again...

  5. I can second a lot of what has already been mentioned about dates to avoid and wood types.  I love my Bubinga Thumb NT with its Wenge neck and Ebony fretboard... but this one is a studio queen, since it sounds superb in recordings but I feel is too heavy and too nice to gig.

  6. ART HeadAmp6 Pro Six 6 Channel Headphone Amplifier With EQ & Aux Mixer for sale for £150 (includes shipping costs within UK, or collection from Sheffield).

I originally purchased this unit to use as part of an in-ear monitoring solution, but this is now surplus to requirements.  Works really great... no issues at all!

There should be some better photos up soon. There's also some pretty good videos but unfortunately they are embedded into Facebook so I can't repost them here :-((

Cool!  We're playing there at the end of May... thanks for posting the photo, as it gives me a great impression of the stage.

  8. RichTone Music in Sheffield sent me an email summary of their recently acquired used items up for sale, and I noticed this lovely Warwick NT5 from 2013:

I wanted to drop by the shop just to try it out, but then the very next day it sold!  Man, that was fast!

So... who bought it?!  Anyone here on Basschat with a 'new' (for them) Warwick Thumb NT5?  If it was you: How does it sound?  :)

  9. These have all been quad-matched (which is what I need for my amps), so I really wouldn't want to separate them into pairs.  Sorry!

If you don't mind using TAD or JJ matched pairs, HotRox has these in-stock for £100 - £120, respectively: https://www.hotroxuk.com/jj-valve-kt88.html

If anyone is interested, I see that they also have TAD quads in-stock too... for less than what I'm asking for these Electro-harmonix valves.

  10. Actually @AndyTravis, I think you might be right.  I don't know the inner workings of these GK cabs, but just googling around a bit now folks mention light bulbs acting as a current limiting device in a lot of cab circuits (as simple fuses could just blow).

I was reasonably sure that I had driven these really hard in the past, but perhaps I just never looked closely enough to notice the glow.
