  1. B Maj would fit nicely if the progression/melody doesn't sound like it resolves at any time
  2. The cramps you're getting with the French bow is probably over-gripping, it will get easier the more you get used to playing. A bit like the left hand cramp you get when first learning bass/guitar...
  3. This is all true, and it's always good to watch for Apple upgrades that can mean your equipment isn't supported (i've binned soundcards before because of this). That said, if you don't always need to run the latest OS then there is plenty of life left in older macs. With our audio Macs at work I try to run the lowest possible version of the OS to maintain the widest gap between what the software needs and older hardware. The external SSD option is a good point, as audio tends to eat up space pretty quickly and there is a premium on larger internal drives.
  4. +1 for Dood's suggestions, I've got an 2012 i7 quad core portable rig which can easily handle 24 tracks of simultaneous live Protools recording. Mid-2012 or later Minis should still run the current latest OS which means you're safe from the Apple update trap for a while too. David
  5. The moving mass of the voice coil is very small, so unless the suspension rubber is totally perished (you'd have noticed!) there shouldn't be any problem storing in any orientation. Manufacturers usually store and ship drivers boxed facing either up or down in my experience. Also, there are several cabs that have downward or upward facing drivers as part of their design. Dry and protected from physical damage is more important, and don't store them next to anything sensitive to big magnets 😀
  6. John Clayton's Youtube videos are worth checking out for some of the fundamentals, i've been using them to correct a few bad habits while on lockdown.
  7. It would be worth having your bass checked out by a Dbass-playing friend if you haven't already as the action or string type might be making your life harder. If the action is even a few mm too high it will make a huge difference, likewise if the strings are high tension it won't help... Ditto the above advice, also make sure your third (ring) finger is planted when playing with your fourth. Hand size doesn't make as much difference as you might think on DB...
  8. Thanks Rev/Ducky. Yes, new strings are the reason for trying to work out what was on the bass at the moment! This gives me more of an idea what i might put on next. Cheers, David
  9. Hi folks, Can anyone ID these strings for me please? Can't get an exact match via the String ID Guide on the Dropbox... I think they are Innovations based on the Red/Yellow/Blue/Green at the pegbox end, but which ones? I thought they were Silver Slaps, but they have been on the bass since before I bought it so possible the colours have changed at some point? TIA, David
