2. "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder, I can play it but I wish it didn't reduce me to tears, doubled up in a contorted state of RSI induced agony by the end of the song!
  3.

just because hes better than you. MB1. See that bass player there!............. ................Thats You !.....That Is!!!!!!!!!

..... that's you playing your very best......
  4. wax on....... wax off! I wouldn't use oil on the body, wax is best for the oil finishes, Warwick supply their own wax with all new basses but it's just the same kind of stuff they use in the furniture/antique trade, a sort of synthetic beeswax equivalent I think.....
  5. THREE of these bad boys for sale at the moment?!? jamieperryman, CHRISDABASS and Dodge..... what's going on lads? why does everyone seem to be jumping the Warwick ship, I'd love one of these, been playing LXs for about 10 years now and have always hankered after a Stage I.... unfortunately I'm nowhere near flush enough right now, oh well...... good luck with your respective sales guys (Dodge gets the free bump cos he was furthest down the page!) - Dan
  6. Fantastic album indeed! I had some contact with his website manager at the start of the year as I was having trouble buying his "Live!" album online, he was very helpful on the technical front but not so forthcoming with gig info..... ....maybe try contacting Bernie Goodfellow, he'll probably have a vague idea what's going on in Mr. Cottle's world.
  7.
I completely understand the feeling mate. Though if I didn't sit on my hands when there were bargains to be had, I'd probably be on my 8th Warwick already, not 3rd.
+1 to that mate!...... .... one morning about a year ago I woke up after a VERY late night on the single malts.... staggered about the house looking a bit like that fella out of the old Cornflakes ad, trying to operate the kettle, toaster etc while I waited for my computer to boot up. When it finally did, I was intrigued to discover an abnormally high volume of mail in my email inbox. Upon closer inspection I realised that most of these were from ebay, timed between 3 and 4am: there were a few dozen "bid confirms" almost as many "outbid notices" and then.... there it was: "you won ebay item........" I honestly had no recollection at that point but it did start coming back to me pretty rapidly: I'd stumbled through my door at about three, and clearly against my better judgement logged onto ebay and started aggressively bidding away on TWO mid 90's Streamers!.... successfully in one case too! To add insult to injury I also noticed "collection only" was stated on the item description..... and it was in Rotherham! To be fair, It has become my most used Bass now (of my three ebay Warwicks!) and although my bank manager wasn't too chuffed at the time, there are plenty worse things I've done in that state, and I don't regret it at all!!!
  8. I saw him at the B'ham Symphony Hall earlier this year with Alan Thomson on bass, pretty good gig really although Mr. Martyn himself was largely incoherent! Alan Thomson was playing a very interesting Bass at various points; a kinda semi acoustic fretless with holes in the front and back?!? at certain points you could see right though it, I'd be interested to know what it was, if anyone here knows?...... v. ugly headstock if I recall correctly, uber-sexy apart from that though!
  9. I would also like to register my interest please, I'll possibly be incommunicado for a couple of days depending on whether my sis's wifi is working or not, but PM me if Jase doesn't want it - Cheers, Dan
  10.
Stu Hamm and Steve Vai are not the first names that spring to mind when someone says jazz.
+1 hit 'em with a bit of Birdland! The Funk's suggestion of Blue Monk's a top idea too, I've got a really great arrangement of that in an old Bassist mag somewhere under my bed, I'll see if I can find it and whack it in the scanner for you: it's a solo Bass thing with loads of tasty maj7th chromatic runs in it..... sounds complex but it's actually dead easy to play! good luck with it anyway, whatever you opt for! - Dan
  11.
Thats the one! Thanks very much for the info mate. I am looking forward to listening to the album again! I noticed he has loads of albums, presumably with various musicians - what else would you reccomend to a chap who likes excellent production and tight grooves ;0) Cheers ped
hmmm, the pressure's on! I'll have to think on that for a bit, it's gonna have to be pretty amazing to measure up to Continuum, have you ever checked out Ozomatli? It's a very different kinda thing (stronger on the grooves front, than the production) but very interesting nevertheless...... I'll think on and let you know! - Dan
  12. Sale pending! wow that was quick...... Ped, Pino's on the whole album and it was all co-produced by drumming supremo Steve Jordan hence the kit always sounding tasty I guess! There's a live Trio album kicking around out there that was released a couple of years back which is also great...... sheesh, listen to me, you're right Ped, I really am a Mayer-Geek! I'll stop now!...... Dan PS: slow dancing in a burning room's also my favourite track.

    G-bitch

I purchased an SKB Bass Safe from this gentleman, and it was an altogether enjoyable and beneficial experience! - Merci beaucoup Monsieur......
  14.
Pretty random, that - I just started listening to John yesterday. 'Contunuum' is a great album! Love the production on it.
perfect opportunity to take it to the next level then Ped!...... Driving down the M40 Monday Lunchtime too, you can even thumb a lift!..... er, not coming back til Wed though as I'm going to both gigs! Continuum's got to have been my favourite album of the last five years, as you say, impeccably produced; plus some of the most lush guitar tones I've EVER heard on record..... and a bit of Pino for good measure of course!
  15. a couple of mates have just pulled out on this gig, not really leaving me enough time to stick these on Ebay. the gig's a sell out so I may be able to flog them back to the box office, just thought I'd give it a whirl on here before I consider other options....... not trying to make a profit, just recoup what I spent: £30 each plus £3.50 booking fee..... drop me a PM if you're interested. PS: Newton Faulkner's opening the show also, so it'll be a great gig from start to finish!
  16. all the ones.... legs 11: 3 Warwicks 3 Ibaneii (old Bassworld joke! ) 1 Spector 1 Westone 1 Lamaq 1 Vintage and finally..... 1 3/4 size Czech Upright
  17.
also, correct me if I am wrong, but was Amazing grace not played on a tenor (ADGC)???
that's what I was just about to say!......
  18.
I knew her for years (she went out with one of my best mates) and she always talked about becoming a professional singer. We got together for a few performances and did a version of Sweet Love by Anita Baker. I've never heard anything like it and got so hooked on her voice that I nearly lost my place a few times! A really nice person too. It's one of those friendships I wish I'd have kept going. Coat-tailing? Moi?
i know how you feel mate, I went to school with her. Played with her a number of times and she always promised me the gig in her band if/when she ever "made it".....
  19. If you're feeling energetic the Samarian Gorge makes a good day's hiking! Seems a bit insane at the time but you'll never forget those views!
  20. er........ is it a black Precision?
  21.
That's one hell of a rig for £1400!
it certainly is! any likelihood of selling the 15F separately?..... if so, at what price? cheers - Dan
