  1. Totally understand.... I don't need the money - but I also don't need the bass. 🙂 Since I bought a Fodera Monarch - it's just not getting played and I would rather it was getting used rather than sitting in a case in my music room... I've got a P-bass and a 5-string J-bass.. I might sell them instead to make some headspace.
  2. This is a really good point - what fits in the mix and what sounds good in isolation is completely different. You don't need as much bass as you think, you don't want as much treble as you think - your tone has to be quite narrow in order to fit between the guitars and drums (sometimes...). A lot of isolated bass parts sound rubbish. Loose, distorted, quite empty. Timmy C's parts on RATM sounds AMAZING on the record - and awful when isolated. I don't even know how he made a Stingray sound so bad! But when you hear the harshness blended with a crash cymbal and the bottom end propped up with a kick-drum it all suddenly makes sense!
  3. Best rock bass sounds - shouldn't have included Wilton Felder and James Jamerson... they are brilliant lines, not sure they are great sounds - and they definitely not rock. Same with Paul Mcartney to some extent. And Tony Levin. Not rock. Billy Sheehan is a huge miss. His bass SOUND was a huge change. Lemmy - I'm no big fan of Motorhead - but what a SOUND Steve Harris - those clattery triplets on a precision bass... amazing SOUND. dUg Pinnck - love his SOUND. Phil Lynott - plectrums and p-basses... what's not to love. In my opinion. Love Rick Beato by the way.
  4. That’s beautiful. I’ve got it’s twin Monarch! I’ll bet the sound is amazing.
  5. Beautiful! Always preferred the classic look to the standard 5 with the odd scratch plate.
  6. Yeah man, I hear you. Might just buy a nice EB case and store it...
  7. Thanks man. It’s an amazing bass - but it’s just not getting played. I’ve got a couple of other basses that get way more attention and it seems a waste for it to live in a case.
  8. With regret (no doubt) - I (thinking) about selling my 1994 Musicman Stingray 4. I've had this since new, and bought it from the Bass Centre in London on my 21st birthday. It's an amazing bass - and pretty much 90% of my bass playing life has been spent with it. It's been well cared for, and only has a few battle scars - plays like a dream, sounds like a beast. Neck is unfinished and amazing. I've got a hard-case (not EB) that I will include for postage. Happy to send both UK and further - at the buyer's expense. I'm based on the Hampshire / Berkshire border if you would like to come and try it out.. Foam mutes still working - and it's generally in great condition for a 24 year old bass.. Pics..
  9. Pop in and say hello 🙂 no costs for trying it out.
  10. Close to Reading in Berkshire. I work in London during the week.
  11. Beautiful Sandberg California - for sale (no trades please). 5-string, active, 34" scale - huge tone. Road-worn so has some bumps and lumps - all from the factory. Lovely to play, very smooth, neck is amazing. Really has some mojo. Bought from another BCer on here about 9 months ago and just fell in love with a Shuker... so one-in-one-out! Active / passive via push/pull on the volume - very versatile. Comes with a soft case - I'll happily post UK or International at buyer's expense. Oh - and it's really light! Under 4kg. If you didn't get the xmas present you really wanted..... treat yourself!
  12. Yeah man - absolutely.
  13. Pedal is getting sad... needs to be played with...
  14. I have a '94 Ray I can bring along if you like? And a Fodera Monarch Standard?
  15. I've got a Korg Pandora PX4D that I would like to donate to the cause. (Boxed, with instructions)
  16. Really growly distortion - works well with bass. Lots of low end. Boxed and ready to post. UK post around £5 for international, PM me.
  17. Funky dunky wah fun! Great pedal - loads of sounds, really flexible. Too many new pedals recently means this isn't being used. Boxed and ready to post. Post in the UK for £5 - international, PM me. Wah wah wah!
  18. You know what this guy does. Amazing quality reverb pedal. Just bought a bunch of Boss gear so this is surplus. In great condition, with box - ready to post. Post into the UK for £5 - for international, PM me! Get your ambient on!
  19. Great Octave Pedal - just bought a OC3 so this is now too much octave... small chip in the enamel, but apart from that - it's clean. With box and ready for a new home. Will post in the UK for £5 - for international - PM me. Get you low on!
  20. More loopy fun! With the ditto x2 you can run AND add effects (I love the 1/2 speed). It's amazing. It great condition - with box. Happy to post in the UK for £5 - international, PM me. Loop (and loop) on!
  21. Little Ditto Looper! It's great. You know what these things do. Still boxed and ready to go. Happy to post - in the UK probably £5k - for international, PM me. Loop on!
  22. Come get some Lofi fun! Great little pedal (and it is little!) - big range of sounds. I've been using it with an octave pedal for some real swampy hammond style sounds, or with an pitch shifter for some baby elephant fun. I'll post happily - UK would be around £5 - for overseas PM me. Boxed and in great condition.
  23. Hey man - you have DM: I'll take this if you can courier.
  24. 20) Steve (me) - Fodera Monarch Standard Classic, Sandberg California VS5, Maybe a '94 Stingray? TC 208 combo or PJ Double4?
  25. I sang lead for a while in a classic rock trio and really enjoyed it. It is harder to groove when you are concentrating on singing as well. What I found was playing with a pick enabled me to focus on the rhythm more - fingerstyle and singing is really hard! ACDC and Thin Lizzy / ZZ Top are great places to start with singing and playing.
