  1. I've got my first lesson tommorow. Looking forward to it 😎 Been putting in 2-3 hours practice each day and still improving. Hope to get some good pointers and a routine set out during the lesson.
  2. Thought I'd share since the bassline is so badass 😎 The album as a whole is worth checking out if you're into funky neo soul/jazz/beats...
  3. Strength: Erm, enthusiasm?? Weakness: Only been playing a few weeks 😳
  4. Now, Laura Lee sure knows how to move with that bass... 😳 That, and some really tasteful playing and tone out of a stunning Jazz Bass 😎
  5. Umm, well, I've recently dusted off a bass that's been sat in a gig bag for 15 years and hasn't had a string change ever 🙄 😀
  6. Been practicing lots this past week and have seen huge improvements already! Patience and perseverance really are the key. I've also booked in a lesson for next week, so I'm looking forward to that. I've never had a lesson before, at all, even in all my years of guitar playing. To put that right, I've booked a guitar lesson in also 😀 I have decided that these next 12 months will be dedicated to improving musically as much as possible. I hope to also get to the point where regular jam sessions become a thing. I'll also be using this thread as a log, so please bear with me 😄
  7. ... with this bassline. So simple, but so smooooooth.
  8. Effortlessly soulful, funky and groovy... It's just badass, like Miles was:
  9. This has to be one of the funkiest soul-filled tunes Parliament/Funkadelic ever did. Funkin' For Fun - It's so good to your earhole:
  10. Favourites? Too many to name... As for something new, this tune is crazy soulful - Vulfpeck's collaboration with Joey Dosik on Running Away. I've lost count of the number of times I've replayed it recently:
  11. Back in the early 80s the Chili's did a good cover version of Sly and The Family Stone's If You Want me to stay: Same album, they also did a cover of The Meter's Africa, but renamed to Hollywood... They were produced by George Clinton at the time 😎
  12. A more controversial submission... I think FnM's is superior to Sabbath's, but then again, I grew up with version. Killer tone on both bass and guitar, and powerful vocals from Patton:
  13. Dub Side of The Moon by the Easy Star All-Stars is excellent: Robert Glasper's cover/medley of Everything in its Right Place / Maiden Voyage is pure class:
  14. Hi All It's a new bass - as in, brand new. I'm now going to have it professionally set up this weekend, so hopefully this will be resolved following that! Thanks
  15. Hmm, doesn't seem to be the tuners. Also, I can't seem to get the allan key in 😑 I'll need a longer one than I have lying around...
  16. Greetings I have what seems to be buzz that's coming from inside of the neck. I could be wrong. It's most prominent unplugged and on the lower open notes. This is on my new P Bass and it hasn't resolved after a week's worth of playing. I've also noticed that getting the E in tune is a bit of a bugger. Could this be truss rod related? Danke
  17. And then there's this... That beat... The whole thing just makes me smile 😀 (Not everyone's cup of tea, understandably)
  18. Well, I was minding my own business when I came across this... So, I guess this is what I'm listening to 😳 All three of these are on another level:
