@PatrickJ be good to get your soundscape and FX settings you were using for future reference!

Yes, I really should have made a note of them shouldn't I

  2. I was having a good play with the SY-1 last night and I ended up with an accidental creation that @Al Krow suggested I posted here.

All the sound scaping and FX in the audio clip were generated with the bass into the SY-1, the bass riff that comes in uses an OC-2 octave.

I'd love to help you but I'm too new too!

I have only done one rehearsal with it and found an awesome organ sound to run underneath the bass when a solo is happening - it's astonishingly good and I wish I knew how I got it.

Did you have the organ sound blended with the Bass and playing in unison, or were you holding the FS to have the organ sound sustained whilst you played bass over it (I think that's a feature)

  4. OK SY-1 Lovers

I've had my SY-1 pedal a week now, and a few evenings of knob tweaking and fiddling.  There's a ton of sounds in that sparkly blue box but I'm struggling to settle on any that are really doing it for me.

For anyone regularly using this pedal would you mind sharing some of your presets and what you're using them for to help spark my creativity - particularly any lead 'synth tones' or moogish synth bass settings.

Owned by @hertsbass - Simon is a really nice fella - donated rehearsal time at a previous Herts Bash.

RE: The rehearsal rooms in St Albans, I can't find any info on line - I thought it was on the Industrial Estate at Ashley Rd. As I said, can't find anything.

St. Albans would be a perfect location for me ... I'm suprised there isn't an established rehearsal studio there already.  Perhaps I'll start one.

  6. There was an OC-2 going for £80 and an OC-5 going for £105 in the FS section of this forum last week.  Both excellent prices so not sure if they are still available, I've not tried the OC-5 but the OC-2 is my favourite for that synthy tone it generates.  From what I've read the OC-5 replicates that well but with better tracking.

If that OC-2 tone isn't what you're looking for then the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe pedal is pretty good.  The Octabre and MXR Vintage Bass Octave are both OC-2 clones I believe.

I haven't used it but there has been some positive feedback about the recently updated studio in St Albans (near the printers).

Do you happen to know what it's called Mick?

Farm Factory in Welwyn Garden City is pretty decent, good PAs, nice & clean and good bass gear if needed (Ampeg amps & 810s).

Cheers Lozz.  I'll check them out too

Wish you luck in your new home Nik.

Hertford, Stevenage, Welwyn have/had a fairly busy music scene. There is Hertford Guitar Club that meets once a month, I've not been but think it's an open mic type night. Think this one does attract good musicians from what I've heard.

I'm sure there's a social club that we've played in Potton.

I'm in Hoddesdon and offer guitar and bass set up work, mods etc. Have carried out work for a fair few Bass Chatters over the last few years.

Gary, what's your rate for changing pickups?  I hate soldering and can never make a neat job of it.

As in the brand is also owned by G4M or or they sold the brand (to ANOther) and the UK stock to G4M? Sorry for a pedantic question but it may give us a clue to their future!

I assume this is a similar to setup to Acoustic and Guitar Centre, i.e they own the brand and will start manufacturing and selling amps under the Eden name.   I can't find anything via Google about it though - @vinorange what's your source?

Could be good news if G4M start making decent amps using the Eden brand. Hope so.

I can't see them being any good.  I think the whole problem has been since David Nordschow left Eden the success of the brand deteriorated, I can't see G4M being able to inject any innovation into the brand to make them popular again.

This is all giving me gas for a old World Tour Amp head though.

and then make sure to make a note of your settings when you do find one!

Learnt this lesson the hard way last night... no idea how to recreate the sounds I came up with!

I love mine. I have the rest of the board in the loop of the SY-1. The amount of options is a bit daunting but on the flip side they're nearly all usable

Yes, I need to explore the FX Loop and how that works since I'm planning on using Octave and Dirt with the synth

  12. Took delivery of this today..

it doesn't normally take me long to get to grips with a pedal, especially if there's editing software .

However this little synth is a bit overwhelming with the sheer volume of presets and tweaks that can be made.  It's going to take some time
