  1. It might be my shonky 1980's Applause build.. the machine heads are not set as far into the headstock as a real Fender and so are not completely in line with the nut. the angle of doom is inherent in the OG build. Damn. Machine heads not in line + machine heads scalloped = badangles & buzz. Bugger.
  2. even cheaper than the ones I got! similar sizing.. possible even slimmer on the string width
  3. Just in case you need some info I had an attack of the dreaded A string buzz on my pub project P bass never a thing for me before as all my bass are 2 a side. Partly this is due I think to the el cheapo scalloped tuner towers which force the string to ride center upward on the mid part of the tower, even with plenty of winds. With the straight sided ones you can get the string to lay lower to the headstock. Feel free to argue with me on this point. Did some digging for string trees and these came up on the bay, also mentioned on here somewhere "Gotoh Style" whatever that means 🤣 at £4.99, I am skint so this seemed doable. However, not as wide as advertised imho, here as pictured sitting on a 42mm nut at 9mm string spacing. It works but is playing havoc with my ocd and I am concerned it will bork the A string at some point or tear out of the headstock. [we shall see] Hope this helps someone avoid unnecessary sting angles in the headstock area by spending a lot more money on the Hipshot product, which looks to be way, way better.
  4. Bloody hells teeth.. I need to be even more suspicious than I already am then. #setsuspectometertoeleven. what happened to the world wide web that would bring everyone together in sweet sweet harmony 🫠 I might be better off flogging shoplifted meat products in the pub ffs. 🥩

  8. Hello, selling a thing on reverb, just got an offer with a request for a video of the item to be sent over whatsapp.. seems like a scamy thing. but I am new to reverb. "Excuse me, could you send me a video of the product review via Watsap? I want to make sure that the product belongs to you, because I'm afraid of being caught by scammers. Watsap +44 738 909 8xxx" Anyone have any experience in scamland? is this just a gateway spoof to get me to loose my shirt and other items of clothing?

    ROLAND Project LYDIA

It seems that they are. I had no idea that the piped even existed which shows that I’ve been living under a rock. On the upside, Roland might make a better fist of it than Behringer though.
  14. Priced to sell - 1987 CHOPSON IV
  15. I am not sure what this pedal even does... but I do want to try one out. Roland Says "Project LYDIA comes with a special version of Neutone’s Morpho technology optimized for low-latency tinkering and live performance. Morpho learns the tonal qualities of a user-defined sound and applies these qualities to an input signal as a creative effect. In academia, this is sometimes referred to as “timbre-transfer,” but Neutone believes a better name for this may be “neural sampling.” 🤯 🧠 🤯 https://articles.roland.com/introducing-project-lydia/
  16. "UK Doctors Hate this" "40,000 UK home have this heater" "The inventor is a 20 year old jet engine technician" Using Farm vehicles to get your kids to school 5 year old tiktokers who play Jaco licks better than Jaco when he was 5
  17. I will add the phrase 'It is what it is' I hate myself every time I say it
  18. Those robotic autotuner things.. what the actual 🤯 guitarist leaves amp on and robot tunefail commences. kill them with fire.
  19. That Bass is as cool as... if I live to be 100 my shed building luthier skills might get to maybe 10% of this beauty.
  20. All the envelope filters? just saying 😉
  21. I am not the greatest bass player in the world, I’m just a tribute 🤘🏽
  22. Following on from my SillyStratocaster Bass hack. I Picked up a mid 80’s Applause (by ovation, allegedly m’lud) P Bass for £50 at a junk shop for a pub bass, honestly I nearly didn’t buy it because that was the food money for the week, but I thought it was Worth a shot and I could probably explain to the wife why we would just eat porridge and beans. The Fretboard was partly delaminated but truss rod sound. Now to ruin it with my epic luthier skills that i got for xmas last. 1- re fit fretboard and see if it plays. It does neck is nice but the action is vile 2 - will it play nice? hmm not really, better but still a bit shit frets are all over the place. 3 - de fret, because re fret is just silly. And I really fancy a fruitless because I used to own a Doug Wilkes percussive fretless in the mid 80s which I lost at a gig because I got so drunk I left it there and we parted ways, what an idiot.🤯 Some of you might remember this bass from the “has anybody got a scratch plate” in wanted ads. well i got the scratch plate sorted thank you to @walshy @rwillett @Shepster8316 then like a fool I just went down the old fixit wormhole and went full project on it. had a busted 80’s Benedetti from a Viger had that I had rewound perviously by Bloodstoneguitars (Dave is great). Got a veneer sample from ebay for £3 good shout from this excellent basschat thread watched a bit of YT and procrastinated for over a week. I then bit the bullet and took all of the frets out “carefully” after learning that patience was key and I’m not a very patient person so I was very patient or as patient as I could be took the frets out waited about a week for the maple to come the Maple didn’t come then I asked the guy where my maple was and he said oh I’ll send you another bit and then he didn’t send me Maple he sent me Royal Ebony instead and so I used that, because serendipity. (The maple did arrive eventually, so if you need some hit me up) Glued in my shed Finished in someone else's actual workshop Interestingly the ebony is striped, so i put the lighter stripe at the top end of the fret so i have markers, which helps. Griller glue for inlays and super glue to seal the board! Who knew! Finished with Gun oil because it was there. when I put it back together again, I think the old wiring loom was really shot. It would not stop buzzing no matter what I did and the pots were just dead really so I just wired in series the pick ups directly to the Jack while I save up for a @KiOgon VT VT Loom it works okay it’s a bit weird not being able to turn your base down or adjust any other tone, but it’s quite liberating in some ways not having to fiddle with your knob all the time 😁 routing for the B was a bit scary but i managed it with out too much damage. now I have a pretty well playable fretless PJ hybrid thing and yeah it is a lot of fun actually but I’ve gotta get some flats for it because all my other basses are two aside and I don’t have an old set that fits and so this is currently sporting a totally mismatched set of horribleness. Again I gotta save up because I don’t have any money to buy strings. I have to buy food and pay the gas bill.😩 i suppose I could ruin/modify it to a 3/1 to use my old sets but i like the fenderesque headstock. So prolly not.
  23. I am so glad that I am not the only madman on here turning guitars in to basses.. 🤩 great work!
