If I was to have one refinished I’d probably go for a nitro very light relic so in time it would age naturally,
some from around those years are in very good condition and some are quite worn, I suppose it would depend on how well it’s been looked after and how much it was used, my 71 precision had one owner before me and he played it a lot for many years, it’s quite worn but still plays great, also I think you can also find that some have been aged unnaturally

Hi, yes 74 would be a poly finish, if you look in the neck pocket you can sometimes see what colour it originally was

I haven’t owned anything other than a small 15w practice combo since the first Covid lockdown, when I thought I was done playing.
I got back playing 18 months ago and my sax player very kindly let me use a Trace combo, but sadly it had a Bipolar Bear board and died a few weeks back. So time to step up and buy a new amp!
I’ve been through some budget and expensive rigs over the years and the past 18months has thought me that expensive doesn’t always mean good (for me at least).
Given the huge amount of positive feedback for Ashdown and their customer service, and this thread, I plumped for a nice secondhand Rootmaster setup. I’m on the lookout for another 2x10 or 15 cab, can’t decide which, but this will do for now. Well made and nice weight, top marks to Ashdown and an absolute bargain.
Nice setup NJE,congrats , very good amps aren’t they, I used to use mine with 2 markbass 15s , but now I use a big baby 2, I find the shape button really useful

No, but looks legit. Not many P basses had blocks and binding. When did they transition to truss rod access at the headstock end?
The bullet truss rod was around 75 , I had a 74 and that adjusted at the heel

My big baby 2 can put out some really deep bass , I’d say it’s a pretty clean sounding cab compared with all the other cabs I’ve had over the years, I haven’t tried the two 10s yet but I probably would if one came up local, just not sure it could put out the same bass though

It does seem odd that you was told that it was sold and it’s still listed, all his ads read the same

Stumbled across this, it did make me smile

10 years ago I knew people that were collecting 60s and 70s fenders so I wouldn’t say they were undesirable, obviously not as popular as they are now

it did leave a bit of a hole in the back where the battery used to be
Nice job, couldn’t you just put a cover over the compartment or a battery box just to fill the hole

Thanks ,Yeah, I kinda recognise the Bassline and you can just hear some lyrics in the background but don’t know the song

I’ve been going through just about everything U Roy did recently ,and I know quite a few of the original songs but I don’t recognise this one, I’ve exhausted my search, any ideas anyone
