Tried the Ashdown thought it was tremendous but too loud. This will just be sitting in the studio for recording. Sounded great tho and looked great.

Limited experience playing my Sire through @Merton's and a Barefaced One10 but I remember it sounding lovely.
Probably going to buy it.

Hi folks just wondered if anyone had opinions on this amp? Would only be for recording and will sit in our studio. I’m looking for something that can do cleanish but capable of an organic sounding overdrive (no gain knob so does it have to get loud to start breaking up?).
One being sold locally which I’m interested in. Just for info I was looking at the new CTM 15 and the Ampeg PFT 20.
(Gone from 0 amps to potentially 3 in the last two weeks 🥺!)

Which effect were you using on the Stomp? I regularly use Poly Capo to drop a semi-tone or two and it works great, although I’ve not tried it below low E.
The Poly Capo I believe, and it was a semitone below the low B so probably just a bit too low!

Very informative replies to this, thanks for the input!

Late to this topic but the Elf is definitely worth considering, I think it sounds great DI'd because you only get a post-EQ signal.
Thanks, I thought the Elf looked great but I ended up picking up out a 2nd hand GK MB200 cheap, which is probably huge in comparison to the elf 😀

When the freq gets lower, the processing takes longer time. It's hard to produce reasonable sounds in the lowest register, pure physics.
Would you consider using sounds one octave higher - at least the ones needed - and process your sound with some pedal? Some compression and OD/dist/fuzz? A hint of reverb may make the sound full. EQ is always your friend.
Cabs are not even capable of producing any feasible sound in that 20 - 40 Hz area (instrument handling noises consume lots of energy - this is the reason to use an HPF). It's the harmonics we hear.
Thanks for the info! As I say it’s kind of academic as I’ve just modified what play so there is no need to detune but it was just out of curiosity! -
Really an academic question but the other day, I was asked to tune down a semi tone for a section of a song. I was using 5er so potentially a semitone down from a low B. I’ve modified what I play so it’s fine but there was a wee bit of discussion about pedals etc and I was wondering if there is a pedal that can handle down tuning low notes? Played about with detuning on the Helix briefly and it was surprisingly good in the higher register but shit as it got lower!

So I bought a Hotone and a 2nd Hand GK Mb200. Why buy one thing you don’t need when you can buy two!

Used or new Warwick Gnome could be the one - di out, hp out, cab, small, ok sounding for rec and live.
Yeah they look great and so cheap!

I’ve just got the Ampeg Micro VR yo use with my SVT112AV cab
It’s a nice amp for the money and definitely an Ampeg tone
Some claim it has a noisy fan but I found it to be quieter than the Trace Elf and acceptable
Very light and small and perfect for home use or acoustic small venue gigs
Thanks for the info!

PDF of the manual (always handy to have downloaded to a phone) - there is a headphones output.
Thanks much appreciated!

Check the user manual.
It hasn’t arrived yet so I don’t have a manual but I’ll definitely check that when it arrives, thanks for the top tip!

Just bought the Hotone, currently £50 in Andertons I mean a no brainer. Can it be used without a speaker as a headphone amp?

Anyone tried the Ampeg Micro VR?
Small amp head for practice and recording.
