  1. For me it was both, I was fasinated with that violin looking thing. Nobody has convinced it wasn't Paul that brought the electric bass guitar to the forefront for the masses of guys my age. Blue
  2. No, nobody presented the electric bass as an out front instrunent or to as many people as The Beatles Blue
  3. We're all different; I can handle being unhappy. I can't handle not gigging. Blue
  4. I"m 65, not a whole lot of time left. If I collapsed and fell into an inch of urine while playing a bar gig I'd be cool with it. I say, go out with a bit of dignity.😁 Blue
  5. In your case your still young and probably a good time to move on to something else. I'll never have that option because playing/ gigging at the bar band level is who I am and all I'll ever be and all I want to be at this stage of the game. And BTW, I like being me. Blue
  6. I'd rather be gigging and unhappy than happy and not gigging. But how could I not be gigging and happy? 😁 Blue
  7. Nice commentary! However, I'm not sure The Venture were as big in the US as The Shadows were in the UK. Did The Ventures sing? Blue
  8. Still, not what I would call huge, guys, come on, 70 million people had there eyes on The Beatles and that electric Hofner bass guitar. I can believe I'm the only one with this opinion on this forum. Blue
  9. Not in my book and not when it comes to The Beatles. I'm not letting Q off the hook. Blue
  10. I'm not budging guys sorry. These bands did not bring the electric bass into the eyes of millions of 9 & 10 year old future bass players like the The Beatles did on The Ed Sullivan Show February 9th, 1964. Blue
  11. Unless your well networked nobody that's in a position to do something for you us not going to see you in a Milwaukee bar and make you an offer. Maybe back in the 70, or maybe in London. Blue
  12. Not to be rude , but neither Carol or James played bass in front of a captive audience of 70 million on February 9th, 1964 with an electric bass guitar. Paul did. I didn't hear about Carol or James until years after The Beatles. I'm maintaing my position. Blue
  13. Shadows were a lot bigger in the UK. Not exactly what I would consider wide use. Blue
  14. Prior to The Beatles where was there electric bass guitars in wide use? Blue
  15. Don't quit a gigging band until you have something better. Blue
  16. I'm offended by people saying silly things that make no sense. When did anyone ever think The Beatles were fantastic Musicians? Blue
  17. I doubt any of Quincys drummers had what it took to be a Beatle. It involved a lot more than drums. Blue
  18. Your probably right. Blue
  19. Who cares what Macca thinks. I didn't like it. Blue
  20. I'm one of those die hards, maybe the biggest die hard. I did not appreciate Qs comments. Blue
  21. I'm completely down on QJ right now. He picked on the wrong guys. I'm maintaing my position on principal. In my world you don't rip on The Beatles. Blue
  22. Nice pic! Blue
  23. Quincy can have his opinion, however his opinion goes right into my " makes no sense" box. Blue
  24. No actually we have another guy over here that also blurts out controversial statements that don't make any sense. Blue
  25. Good Lord Quincy. Most didn't know what an electric bass guitar was until Paul showed up. Blue
