  1. One of the few things being born in 1953 was good for. Being 10 years old in 63 was perfect timing. Before The Beatles most of my time was spent trying to figure out how to get more candy. Blue
  2. There will always be Jaco threads. I wonder why? Blue
  3. For me Dino from The Rascals (3 Italian & 1 Irish guy) was the first guy to take the drums to the next level for pop music. Very progressive for 1966. Blue
  4. Agreed, Did I forget to mention they also looked great in suits? Blue
  5. I never gave any thought to John's singing. I was listening to "The Beatles" It was all Fab. Blue
  6. Yeah it's weird. I get a cheap $12.00 haircut once a month. I found out from a friend who is in the business, even for a 12 buck cut they get pissed if you don't tip at least $5.00. But I get it, their hourley wage is a complete joke. Blue
  7. Cool as I mentioned our NYE gig hours are great, 2:00-7:00. I get home by 8:30. Blue
  8. Dave, on a good night tips can mean an extra $25.00 bucks per man. Blue
  9. Cool, I can dig it. Thing is anybody can be a drummer, Ringo was a Beatle. And that's hard to pull off. Blue
  10. It's been said before, the guy that shows up with the shiny new huge elaborate kit and can't play. Blue
  11. Great looking guitar and bass. A lot of binding and classic good looks. I hate to be an old geezer. But man did those guys look great in suits or what? Blue
  12. People think my head is so far up The Beatles arse nobody takes me seriously. As for Ringo, do drums even matter when you have songs that great? Blue
  13. Extra lessons, lol hilarious. I can't stop laughing.? Blue
  14. Since we're talking about money and some if you know I love sharing this story. There is this couple that come out to see our band. On 2 separate occasions they have tipped each band member and our sound person $100.00 each. That's crazy, a little embarrassing, awkward and awesome cool at the same time. I know our cultures are different on tipping. Over here had we tried to refuse the tip it would have been considered insulting. Blue
  15. That's where I'm at too. Put me in a packed bar full of live rock music fans with my band and I feel at home. Blue
  16. Now that I think about. In my area, there's no big pay upgrade for NYE gigs at the bar band level. I think the big NYE pay upgrades apply to Function and corporate band gigs. Blue
  17. Not NYE, but we had a $1,200.00 for our 4 peice. Great little venue out in the sticks a little south of St.Paul Minisota. We did not know there was a $10.00. Turn out was a bust, but somehow they came up with the cash. It was however an awkward situation. Our rule has always been we won't play a place that charges a cover. We're a bar band people shouldn't have to pay to see us. The cover at the door thing has been dead for decades at the bar band level in my neck of the woods. Blue

  19. That's big bucks. I think it's big bucks, I haven't done the math. 9 peice is a big split. Blue Blue
  20. Got it, just stuff happens. Our leader was I'll for a while so we had to cut back. She's better now and I believe we're going to start booking more and getting back up to speed. Me, I'm looking forward to some 3 gig weekends. That's where it's at for me. Blue
  21. Wouldn't surprise me, I've been misunderstanding a lot of stuff lately. I think I went to someone's house today for Thanksgiving because I thought I was invited. Now, I'm not sure if I was really invited. Great food. Blue
  22. Guys, ever play with a drummer who doesn't get this? I think it's just as important that other members of a band understand this bond/relationship. I've laid down really decent grooves looked back at the drummer who is completely oblivious and ignoring you. Lame Blue
  23. I'm thinking that's by design. I thought The Wirebirds we're always wor.king. Blue
  24. I won't complain. I know a few guys that don't have a NYE gig and wish they had. Blue
  25. I disagree, those "bunch of mates" had what it took and the ability for that specific opportunity. If they didn't vthey wouldn't be there. Blue
