  1. Andy, heres the short version of a long story. I had pain in my right hip for 2 years and walked with a limp. My doctor changed and added a new prescription drug. The pain was gone within days. I hope something dramatic and unexpected happens for you like what happened to me. Blue
  2. Yes, we all stay to tear down, pack and load lights and sound. Nobody splits while others are working. Blue
  3. Nice Job, love those vocals. Blue
  4. That's my Gibson Custom Shop ES- 335 in Vintage Faded Cherry with Vanilla Binding. Blue
  5. I know exactly where your coming from, been there more times than I care to admit. Love your honesty too, it happens to all of us that are working in the trenches of local level gigs. I still maintain, at the local level even if the band is great your going to lose under those circumstances. Hopefully next weekend will be better for both of us. We have our second outside gig of the season and it's a new venue for us. Any land Lords or owners here? If yes why do you book bands if your clientele has no interest? I'm not trying to be flipant, I'm thinking there must be a reason or some sort of logic here. Blue
  6. I'm still not happy with the last two gigs. 1.We played a Harley Event yesterday, 2.Nice stage and back drop 3.Awesome sound 4. Great pay 5.Great weather, 89° and sunny. 6. Professionally Organized Nice tent with beer, water, soda and sandwiches for the band. However, with an 11:30am-1:30pm slot it was more like a paid rehearsal, no crowd. Blue
  7. It's really tough. The way I think bass should sound and mixed is based on 50 years of gigging. A millennial sound guy might have different ideas on how bass should sound and fall into the mix. I'm not getting involved with sound engineering. Knowing my parts and performing is enough as it is. Blue
  8. Probably not. However, The Stones are pretty generous with giving Daryl the spot light with Keith and Ronnie. More than most would expect. Blue
  9. I don't. Depends on the band and the genre. Daryl Jones switches basses for almost every song. I contend it's part of the show. Daryl could use the same P Bass for every eong and he'd be just fine Blue
  10. Not in Milwaukee. There are to types of cover bands here. 1. Very professional cover bands that put a ton of work into their shows and do a fantastic job with covers. 2. Cover bands that don't put much work into their show that aren't worth going to see. Blue
  11. I gave up on using even 2 basses at gigs. I play in a bar band , these are generally 8-12 four hour gigs. There's not enough time to switch between songs and my pedals react differently to different basses. I really think using multiple guitars or basses is primarily for show. Blue
  12. Great question, I would go see my band. I can't see bands as much as I'd like to anymore, however l want to support the local live music scene as much as I can. Blue
  13. Probably why I never go out of my way to listen to the house mix. Blue
  14. Too many variables. I gave up. When it happens that's great. If not, I'm not going to sweat it. Blue
  15. Yeah, we sell them at gigs too and they sell at the gigs that are hot. I'm not sure how well we'll do with online sales.. Blue
  16. Dave, I'm not really vinto the whole CD thing, however we're releasing our 3rd CD "Follow The Moon" in a few weeks. It's a home grown effort ,some stuff was recorded live in the studio and some songs were recorded at various gigs. According to the band I'm getting producing credit. Which is weird, I didn't do anything. Blue
  17. thanks Geoff, I think the whole biker gig thing can go great or tank as well. I don't know what the biker scene is like in the UK. Thing is, from what I've seen these older bikers are not the wild partiers they might have been 40 years ago. And there are no new young bikers. The Millennials are not into the whole wind blowing threw their hair freedom thing. They stay home and play computer games. It's the reason Harley is having a hard time selling bikes. Blue
  18. Yeah, the room played some bad Voo Doo on my head. I'm sure that played a part in it. Thing is, your suppose to rise above a bad room and not let it get to your head. Last night I let it. Blue
  19. Wow, do you know why he quit in that fashion? Was he whizzed off at something?
  20. Sounds like you had a better night than me Dave, and I didn't get home until 2:30 and it was only a 15 minute commute. I'm bummed out over last night. I need a hot gig under my belt to boost my spirits. Blue
  21. Well, the gig at Traditions Pub was not good for me. I thought my playing was off I had a hard time with the sound dynamics of the room Bar was in a separate room from where we played The crowd was not there to see live music aside from a few of our fans Not many people showed up. I need a hot gig under my belt to boost my spirit. Maybe this coming weekend will be better. We have a Harley Davidson event booked.
  22. I'd say a band name is extremely important. Blue
  23. 9:30-1:30 tonight at Traditions Pub. I'm going in with a good attitude. Blue
  24. Dave, I'm surprised when gigging bands that play the same circuit as us show up at our gigs. Doesn't happen every week but it happens. Interesting, in my neck of the woods, the unemployed Musicians are only found at the open mic. I'm not talking about marginal unemployed Musicians. I'm talking about accomplished locals who's opinion mean a lot to me. And I'm a skeptic by nature so I'm not always sure about the sincerity of a compliment. I appreciate punters for showing up spending money and supporting live music. When I'm out checking out a band, if I'm really turned on by them, I'm going to let everyone in that band know about it. I've had local heavy hitter bass players show up that are way better than me, those are the opinions I'm interested in and take to heart. Blue
  25. I've had punters tell us how great we sound on our absolute worse nights on stage. I'm afraid I have to stick with and value the opinion of fellow Musicians above and beyond the punters. Blue
