  1. Not the whole sponge just a 3/4inch strip approximately
  2. I vote TI Flats or La Bella LTF
  3. Bought this today and stuck under the strings on my jazz then cut into it where strings indented it. Then I slightly pulled it apart ahd kept doing so until the tension on the strings became light and it sounds great. less mutey than a Nordy and hidden under my ashtray - gigging it Friday PVA sponge - mailable and smells like Playdoh £2.90!
  4. Thanks Michelle I have bought an American Original from a person in here. It’s great too
  5. Update my guitar tech pal sanded the nitro of the neck and oiled it for me and it’s now perfect 👌 I would’ve done it but I wanted it to be a proper job. This thing is alive
  6. Think the LPB precision is a fine looking thing indeed
  7. I got an extra wide strap and it was fine for a 3.5 hour rehearsal- thought May get some gotoh lollipop ones one day
  8. Just back and Mon dieu it was superb - going through ash down Evo 2 the old one with 8x10 - had to turn it down to quarter volume and a touch of gain. It’s a keeper! GET ONE!
  9. Bought this from fellow BCer Fender Am Original Jazz in CAR I decided against the self build project for now and fell in love with this lovely thing and with la bellas on but switched out for TI flats and sanded down the gloss on the neck a tad and bingo - blimey what a great sounding bass this is. Articulate, warm yet punchy, bottom end full as a man who has seen a 3 for 1 in a pie shop and bought 6 pies for lunch! the neck is quite chunky - not a baseball bat but something to get used to and it’s quite heavy - would lightweight tuners make that much difference? It’s alright on a strap - I love the neck - gonna stick with it rehearsals tonight can’t wait 😛
  10. Anyone got a 4 string bass mute contraption by Ellio Martina? Tried the website and filled in the form twice now and seems to have stopped making them. Prefer 19mm I specifically need a mute I can engage and disengage that allows me to play towards the neck. Can’t do this when palm muting and Nirdy mute is bit too mutey ta
  11. It wasn’t the Roadworn aspect I especially interested in but the nitro vintage pickups and rosewood neck. So got a Fender American Original jazz on the way 🤠
  12. was £900! which i got straight back in person
  13. dont have scales but going off feel i'd say about 9lbs give or take a few ounces

  15. “King of the budget jazz bass” Low End Lobster calls these and good reason. Firstly, the neck is like glass, smooth no edges, 9.5 radius so super fast to get around. Secondly, the new designed pickups are killer and the overall build is astounding for the money. Easily better than Squier CV and mid price MIM Fenders I have wire woolled the body to take down the sheen of the coating giving it a more vintage look Only selling this as have got nice 60s AO Fender jazz on the way - though if it doesn’t sell happy to keep as back up. Save yourself some money on the shop price. Still have box so can ship to UK for £20 on top or meet north west Pics of wire wool job to take sheen off below - mark on 3rd pic already on body when bought - i didnt bother me - sawe it as an identifying mark
  16. I met him person and in face value I believed him, he was super apologetic but now with the “road worn” service he can offer, he was lying to my face. And I have a high BS detector- he says he bought it from a shop in 2009 and it’s not been played. But I asked him when was the neck last oiled, he claimed 2 weeks ago, which was plainly untrue as neck was very dry. He said the shop he bought from was closed and he was going to ask Fender- which raised an eyebrow 🤨 but by putting that ad back - shows him to be a scammer
  17. He’d listed it before I got home from returning it!
  18. I had a lucky escape I wish I’d looked properly just cost me £20 in Errol and 3 hours in time but as long as we know his name in this community- Leon the Bassist on Facebook too
  19. Yes saw it but the pau ferro neck - I’m not keen - but nice bass
  20. nice stuff
  21. I've had time to think and i think i need to think about it a bit more- had a chat with DG who was hugely helpful and I'm tempted at my own build as opposed to one of his fine fine relics, as i have realised i just want an amber oiled body with jazz neck set up - i think apart from the electronics, i could do most of it - but I've also not long got the Sire V5R, i wired wooled the body to take the sheen down and apart from needed a red tort guard (it's the 24 fret one, so not seen these yet) it's pretty much what i'm after for now. I also find i want to play it for 10 mins when i get up, and at lunch and after work - so might be a mod project and maybe do a build next year. Thanks to you lovely BCers =that have given me food for thought - i was getting carried away last night planning my perfect jazz bass, from elements from 1960 to 1974 - here's me specs of the basics of what i'd think would be ace: The Duroc Signature Jazz Bass 🙂 Alder body with nice grain. Amber tinted/old stripped look Aged red tortoiseshell pick guard C shaped 9.5 radius bare back neck with dark rosewood board. Or 7.25 radius rosewood with block inlay 74 neck Lollipop lightweight gotoh tuners aged nickel Bone nut or synthetic bone Low tension flats Fender hi-mass bridge 1960 style stack pots with cloth wiring - orange drop 0.10 capacitor for dark tone Vintage 64 pickups - cavity shielding tape Jaguar mute Aged F stamped ash tray bridge cover - if it fits over the jag mute
  22. Yes I think I’ll see if one pops up
  23. I’m just inept at doing practical stuff. Give me something to design or coordinate and I’m your guy.
  24. I know a guitar tech no builder - weighing up options
  25. Thanks sir. One for the future
