  1. As great as they are it's not for me and I had the chance to get a refinished strpped to natural 72 P think John Deacon (complete sucker for natural basses esp satin feel) So 'ere no messin' abaht - rock bottom price £2400 got offered £2200 off one of the well know UK bass shops but too much off a loss - so can just about live with dropping £450 in two months for this amazing Ric - Mr Mojo Risin and all that Bought from Andy Baxter in Dec to scratch the Ric itch - I really didnt like the standard Ric bridge - so got a hipshot one from BCer here - and much much better to play and can palm mute without having a physics degree to work out break angles and can intonate it easily, i have the action pretty low as I dont really dig in but this locking bridge is easy to raise too- UPDATE the original bridge is back on back on for sale and include hipshot - also will include new foam mute from Ricky Sounds that needs putting on if you want. Full disclosure putting the old bridge back on one of the hipshot screws lost its head - which is 1 of 3 under bridge so cant see it and all still works - cost well reflected in price - easy fix if you have the tool - i dont and dont want to risk messing up the wood. Weight was 9.1lbs - think hipshot has made it more 9.5lbs but it doesnt feel it as balances real nice - nut is 40mm - the neck is the best ive played - i dont know what profile it is apart from it's great. Buckle rash on back and the odd ding here for a 41 year old bass and there but nothing that takes away from playing Grab a chunk of Ric gold for much less than the 3K+ you see these got for. Come play it in Clitheroe - happy to drive about 40 miles in any direction - or can post but post will have to be insured about £50 - comes with vintage case which is a snug fit, see in pics or for extra £50 can throw in bigger more roomy hard case. Cheers for looking - get in touch if you need to know anything.
  2. Cherry Coloured Funk - Cocteau Twins
  3. this is what i'm talking about - i'm guessing Serek Grand or Lincoln maybe? stop twirling more focussing on bass!
  4. totally - especially fake bass face - if you have time to look like your having a stroke you're not serving the song but yourself (let's see how that can of worms goes down haha) looking at you League haha (top bassist) but sorry bass face really annoys me - i just look annoyed i've been told but that's what i always look like
  5. Yes!
  6. So tired of waiting - the kinks
  7. Subclause 45a Basses without headstocks automatically are excluded from any filming due to being played by misguided fools
  8. Up the junction- Squeeze
  9. We demand change! Ring the King tell him not all is well!
  10. c**** are still running the world. Jarvis Cocker
  11. Or when the singer names the band - he has to say … on the (make and model) bass is…(name of bassist, age star sign optional)
  12. I’m going to write to the government or the police. That when there is film of a live band - there must be, by law, at least a 5 second shot of the bass including headstock close up. im not unreasonable I don’t expect a caption of what make and year it is, just a proper shot of the bass the amount of time I’ve seen some interesting bass on a video but not seen all of it is criminal yours faithfully Seymour Bass
  13. I get 90% on with it. And it’s fab - sounds amazing. Probably could get used to it. As been noodling for hours and hours on it. But I don’t want to have to think about placement when playing- I know I’ll regret it but jazz is for me.
  14. Holding back the years - Simply Red
  15. f*** John Fox Ass Should’ve probably previewed the footage 🤣🤣🤣
  16. Yes it’s the Energy cab - didn’t realise I’d put wrong title. Yes it’s the 400w super light one.
  17. Decided to keep as just heard back mix of recording we did and woof sounds great - looking into ways to sort the screw sticking into my palm Well even though i've been told i'll get used to it - i'm just not sure when placing my right hand down - the bridge is obv different to anything i've played before, and I just dont want to think about anything when i'm playing - just play - so going back to jazz bass - my guitarist thinks i'm mad, possibly I am but probably you're a Ric person or you're not - i'm probably the latter - shame as it's a stunner and have had lots of admiring comments from pals and other band people. I have put pic with my tag name on so you know it's mine and me at Newcastle City Hall on it's first gig! Sticker will be removed and wont cause any problem. Also using Andy's pics then you can see all the bits etc. Tone is superb - the neck is the best i've ever played - it's 4.1kg / 9.1lb but feels lot less - set up by Andy's tech with TI flats - comes with vintage case that can be seen in pics also mute needs replacing but I have a new one that I’ll include in box - i have box so can ship to UK. Shipping insured inc in price. I've priced it at what i've paid inc shipping. So not looking for offer or trades- as think this is fair. Decided to keep as just heard back mix of recording we did and woof sounds great - looking into ways to sort the screw sticking into my palm

  21. yes the first time i plugged it in was wrong jack but no i always check now esp at practice - first gig with it next week - all working again for now 🙂
  22. Had my first Ric-o-scare last night the bass pick up wouldnt be selected with the switch - when i first got it - the jack connection was a tad lose so took scratchplate out and bent it back in and fine - but the switch was a bit clicky so i sprayed a tiny blast of contact cleaner on it - then the bass side started to stick - then last night wouldnt work - got a gig at City Hall Newcastle next Friday - so panic set in a tad - anyway a million people online have said dont use contact cleaner on switches - so looked at solutions and could see a contact on the each side of the switch -so very lightly bent the connections in - very very slight i must stress - still no bass pup so going to admit defeat - i put the scratchplate back on making sure the bass pup wire was in the channel and as if by magic, it's now all working - the mute needs replacing and even though i'm happy tinkering with Fenders - i'm going to take it to Northwest Guitars after next gig for a full on set up and i dont want to mess it up I guess this is the quirks of owning a Ric that i keep reading about? Still it plays like a dream and i'm more than happy to bow to the quirks
  23. Say hello to Blondie boys. My first Ric and absolutely loving it. Got from Andy Baxter’s showroom today. Wow has he got some good stuff. I bought a 66 Mustang off him some years back, so you know it’s quality gear. After reading all the bad stuff as well as the good stuff, seems like there’s 2 camps - lovers and haters. Well mama put me in the former- ok the E sting intonation is slightly out but set up at Andy’s with TI flats for me and it’s superb. What a neck. I was going to go for the new 4003 but hard to find stock and for similar money got this one. much mojo, much to love - I like all the sounds so far and needs mute replacing, which I have on order with Ricky Sounds and pal is going to help me fit it. He’s got 2 Ric’s, and he convinced me to get an old one with lower output- just as well got the extra cab for my cmd121 Markbass then -he’s got one of Paul Gray’s old Rics, an awesome Autumnglo satin finish rehearsal on Friday - woof
