  1. ahhh..... the old "come in handy" eh? ☺️
  2. I must admit that I felt awful when I looked the photo online rather than on my phone - What a dump! (the whole garage is like it... and my shed.... and trailer.... and greenhouse) I think i've inherited this trait from my recently departed and massively missed father ☹️ We were never the tidiest of people when we got our teeth into a project I always clean down between jobs, but this one seems to be taking the michael somewhat Why do I need a battery for a vespa on the bench? Right.... next bench pic will be MUCH tidier ☺️ I've just ordered the wood for a BFM Omni15 Tallboy too 😲. I feared that I may have this one done before the christmas break (definitely need a project to get my hands out of the quality street tin..) Onwards and upwards!
  3. Quick check before work this morning Braces dried up nicely Laid some panels on to get an idea of size of the beast I'm getting rather excited 😍
  4. Braces in today. T Nuts fitted into baffle. Going nicely
  5. id be keen on one as a spare
  6. I can't understand why they discontinued this speaker It's a beauty!
  7. Cheers Stevie I will go with 1 cab. I think the only reason I was so keen was because the 8x4 sheet gave me 2 complete cabs! I am really looking forward to hearing it. I will add a few more pictures as things progress - and try not to ask too many silly questions Jon
  8. Thanks Phil. Was probably getting ahead of myself. Really enjoyed the build today. Normal use a router, but kept it simple with a jigsaw today. Came out a treat! Jon
  9. MK3 started taking shape today. Jigsaw has been busy 😁 Can I ask.... If I wanted to build a tweeter less cab to go under the full range version, what would I need in the way of crossover / filter? Thanks. Jon
  10. I've been busy getting 68 (and counting) bass lines and some backing vocals memorised and half way tidy for a new band I joined in April It's kept me busy, but i've really enjoyed the challenge I think i've "only" got about 12 to go and then i've caught up 😁
  11. One other thing I would say about the easy build cab.... I have one without an HF horn (fitted, but not connected & no crossover inside) Even just as a 1 x 10 with a port they sound good If its the crossover side of things that's putting you off, then it may be worth trying without to begin with Certainly enough "top end" for my tastes
  12. As per the title really Looking to see if anyone owns a Fearless F112 in the East Anglia region and would be willing to let me have a look/listen Long shot, but worth a try Cheers Jon
  13. This is how mine ended up The grille increases the weight significantly (stainless), but they're so compact that it doesn't really bother me.
  14. I use one for rehearsals and two for small/medium pub gigs I reduce the low and low mid eq a smidge and power them with a TC BH550 Given the simplicity and the size, this design really does pack a punch Pre recorded music through them sounds really good too. Amazing, given how simple the crossover circuit is! I'd recommend anyone to have a go! Its very satisfying when you hear your own creation come to life 😊
  15. I've been pondering something.... If you know the ID of a circular port and the length of the port, can this be regurgitated into a shelf port? I've had a play with WINISD and a calculator and I can do the maths, but wondered if there were more factors that would influence the change from one type to another? (keeping shelf a good distance away from back wall of enclosure, wadding etc etc) I've been mulling over building the latest 12" basschat cab, but possibly with a shelf port and maybe even in a kickback style enclosure (Fearless F112 style) Or should I just keep quiet and build it as per plans? 😁
  16. I've got two Jack 10's with beta 10's and no tweeters As of October 2022, I also have an Omni15 Tallboy fitted with 2 x Beyma SM212's, an Alpha 6 cbmr and an APT150 I'm about 7 miles southwest of Norwich
  17. So.... I was searching through my laptop last night and stumbled upon the attached YES! MK2 crossover and cab plans Crossover options of either the P audio or Celestion HF element of the cab I'm rather chuffed! Hopefully there weren't any mods to the crossovers after I saved these
  18. I know this is going back in time a fair bit, but.... Does anyone have the crossover details of the SM212 + PHT407 version of the cabinet please? (Mk2 I believe) I have 2 of each unit and would like to make use of them, but can't see the crossover image I'd appreciate any help Jon
  19. yep - new blade every cab the "leatherette" came from Dunelm - think it was £10 per metre went in for black and came out with red. I think it'll look ok Hopefully i'll get time to finish it this weekend ☺️
  20. My scrap wood challenge cab is having a change of appearance Spray glue and some red leatherette covering Stainless grille Covering is an art for sure, but it's quite enjoyable (apart from when you start 180 degress out, so you find that your join will be on the top face rather than the bottom as planned - taking it off and re-applying was fun... not)
  21. Cheers mate We will cross paths again for sure 😊
  22. Quick update Played through both my scrap ply cabs at the weekend Loud glam rock band (heavy drummer) Social Club environment - room probably 25m x 25m ish. Quite a low ceiling. Coped admirably with my TC BH550. A little bit of compression and very little twiddling of the volume control Again, droppped lows and low/mids a little on the EQ Still can't believe the bass output from 10" drivers in 30l cabs Top cab with tweeter on, bottom with tweeter off Had been a bit peeved about the lack of brightness, but thought it was just me... Changed my strings yesterday (owned the bass 10+ years and never changed them 😲) BINGO! Clear as a bell Still wondering what to do grille wise. I like the silver fabric grille, but i don't think it affords the protection the drivers need. If you're still umming and aaahing about having a go... DO IT! Once again thanks to all contributors 👍
  23. this is a little off topic, but.... When tuning a round port, I can do the rice/frequency generator test and trim the overall length to suit what I need When buidling a shelf ported cab, is there a trick to tuning? I could see adjusting the shelf to suit being a bit of a pain with a built cab (apart from building a prototype first and hacking it about a bit )
