  1. Agree 100%, if the seller doesn't reveal the weight I wouldn't even bother to consider buying it.
  2. Yep, The JP1 is basically a TRB mark 1 with a fancy top + ebony fingerboard. The original TRBs have an even more expensive fingerboard = Brazilian Rosewood, which is now endangered, banned from exporting and if you can get it as an option, prices are ridiculous. Yea the TRB Mark 1s and JP1 are great instruments.
  3. What's going on with the secondhand market? There's no decent high end bassists for sale? I just picked up a Guitarist magazine from 1991 & looking through the the music shop adverts theres about 20+ new and secondhand Status Series 2/Empathy basses for sale & 15 used Jaydees... how times have changed!
  4. And together with the Jaydee... Had a brief play on it today, the weight is excellent, i think it's actually quite a bit lighter then the claimed 3.9kg. The playability is also excellent and i was able to get the action super low although now will need a fret dressing at the bass gallery. Tone is great but i have no idea what the switch does, in the down position it seems to engage the bass and treble controls but when i flick it up does this put it in passive mode?
  5. There's a lot of Jaydee & Status basses abroad now, I think that's why we seldom see them for sale here in the UK
  6. I was going to add, now that T Dog is full time at Jaydee he might update their instagram page with some new bass pics.
  7. Damn, i have to order another Jaydee now haha
  8. That's great to hear... 2 of those jobs are mine haha 1 x GA24 & a Fretless Series 3.
  9. Does anyone know if this is a Series 1 size body?
  10. Wow, love the story! Yea great looking bass, what wood is that by the way looks amazing. Just our of interest, as you have visisted Jaydee HQ recently, has there been an increase in the amount of new Jaydee bass orders since Mark King has gone back to playing them?
  11. Ahh thank you, i was waiting for someone to confirm / correct me as I'm no expert on Vigier, just an admire!
  12. 13. Wow so you are one of the very lucky owners of the 30th special editions! Congratulations & that is one beautiful bass! Love the 2 coloured side LEDS & facing woods are stunning. I read on the Status website that he managed to source some original preamp boards but made some slight improvements, so it's a real reissue.
  14. How much is a new Wal these days? I'm actually down on the waiting list for one. Paul emailed me back a few months ago stating he would let me know what time frame i would be looking at. I'm going to sell a few basses to at take a 3rd off the price and then i have plenty of time to save up for the final payment ...
  15. Nice! I have a similar story back from the Wapping Bass Center days, the first bass i ever picked up that blew me away was a all graphite series 2, the playability , sound and feel was second to none and i was hooked... unfortunately back then i didn't have the funds to get one but it did keep me awake at night dreaming about one day owning one! lol Yea i think i'm quite lucky with the weight of this one, its about 8.8 - 8.9Ibs apparently, which for me being a Jaydee player is super light! I'm not sure but the body wings are cherry wood, not sure if thats lighter than the regular mahogany?
  16. Haha Exactly that! Good old Geezer Butler!
  17. Paul Webb is playing some nice finger style on what looks like an original Vigier Passion?
  18. My max would be £3500, which was the price of a new Status bass more or less. Anymore than that & you're paying for the name / brand or a coffee table (Alembics for example).
  19. The old Bull: And the young calf... (snapshot taken from the Status website for comparison - i don't own this bass)
  20. Exactly this ^^^^^ I agree and the individual square bridge was slightly better than the last rounded incantation IMO. Jaydee & Wal both kept their distinctive hardware & it's a shame Status didn't but the newer S2-classic headless basses were very nice, especially with black hardware... gorgeous! But, if it was up to me, i would always stick with the original distinctive hardware for sure.
  21. Hasn't arrived yet but here's a taster...
  22. I better order some extra pickups and a preamp... Also, you have to add to the price the duty and shipping costs if you're buying from abroad..
