    Yes, I see your issue.
line level output from the turntable is only 240mV, a separate CD player would be outputting about 8 or 10 times that (2-2.5V) which is what your Denon would be expecting.
You’d definitely be better off using a standalone phono preamp from Rega, NAD or Project would be my recommendation. It’s a Moving Magnet (MM) type you need, not moving coil (MC) or one that does both.

There are plenty of cheaper ones on Amazon from around £20.

cheers worth noting, it's always a toss up between cost and benefit. Bit Like a preamp or cough, compressor on a Bass rig.

Cables can be the hi-fi world's equivalent to tone woods in solid electric instruments. You can pay a fortune for them and although it can be argued they can improve sound quality, you won't get a higher signal level by swapping them out.

As a cartridge produces such a tiny signal, it needs to be boosted by a phono preamp (which is what you have in your amplifier). The preamp also corrects the frequency balance - low frequencies are minimised when cutting records in order to reduce the amount the record grooves modulate. If they weren't, the stylus wouldn't be able to track them (look up RIAA equalisation for an explanation).

You may be able to get a phono preamp that produces higher output than the one built into your amp (you would have to run it into a line, not the phono input). Not sure about that - you'll need to do some research - but you may have to accept that vinyl is not going to produce as high an output as streaming, CDs or DAB.

Stand alone phono pre's can be pretty expensive. Have a look online for reviews and recommendations in places such as - Best phono preamps 2021: budget to high-end | What Hi-Fi? and ask a few decent shops for advice (keeping your b/s and snake oil filters firmly engaged). Have fun.

cheers so out of touch with the hifi scene, have good local indpependent Hifi shop might just seek there advice, when you are getting above £100 may just accept that have to adjust volume, as I said sound quality is superb just a lot quieter

  3. Don't know of there is a dedicated HiFi section anywhere. but could not find anything.

After some advice. Just purchased both a new Denon Hifi and direct drift Audio Technica Turntable. Both sound amazing in my 4m x 4m living room with a noice set of Wharfdale Diamond speakers. Only issue is switching from streaming, CD, DAB to Phono Vinyl is a massive drop in volume and I have to crank the volume up a fare bit (turntable set to Line which is loudest). There is no drop in sound quality at all,  no extra hum or buzz or anything,  just have to boost volume from around 20-24 to 30-36 (it goes to 50) maxed out) I do like it loud but not stupidly and if I do there is plenty in the tank hit 40 on volume and its very load.

So does anyone know how to boost the signal from the turntable , just to get it more unity with other settings, can you get boosters for this type of thing, or just by some better quality RCA cables would that make a difference over the std ones that came with the Turntable.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

For overdrive pedals I’d like to hear the just break up stage rather than the full on demos. Sure the full on stuff can be fun but unusable in many situations unlike the just hitting break up stage.

    This ^

I hate went they just crank it up, the equivalent of sitting in a car reving the engine, when what you want to know is what's the pick up like in 4th from 30-50mph

I think Judas Priest technically fit too, the entire line up changed before the first album was released.

Although there was a brief hiatus, and it was essentially a different band that adopted the name (only one common member, who then left).

Yep, Al Atkins was the only original member, Ian Hill and KK downing joined and then the band collapsed soon after, they resurrected the band with Atkins Briefly but he soon left, and Rob Halford  came in and then  Glenn tipton. Thats the classic lineup

it depends if the bass player hides at the back or puts a bit of a show on, they'll notice them if they prance around a bit  (like Flea, extreme example), and make an effort to dress a bit differently, but if they stay at the back staring at your fret board what do they  expect?, I wouldn't have recognised Alex James either but I'm not a big Blur fan. But yes, the singer gets most of the attention because they are the focal point

edit, now the Drummer has real problems 😄

    Makes some really nice cheese

Interesting that there has been no replies.

Is no one interested in Markbass anymore?

Who knows, wanting a new pre amp but a proper tube one as I have an helix stomp

been looking at the Le Bass, Ashdown, and saw this. Bit mire money put price will drop a bit once released

  8. Fantastic Fender Jazz deluxe (Mexican) circa 2015-16 model. Paid £850 new.

Sounds fantastic in either passive or active mode (whatever suits)
    Maple neck.
    3 band active Eq
    Active passive switch
    Vintage noieless pickups
Comes with Fender strap, padded Fender gig bag
Two sets strings Rotosound Jazz flats and set of Newtone hand made rounds.
Condition superb, a couple of very minor hardly noticeable dinks, (but bass’s like these need a battle scar) only ever used outside home use for some semi acoustic rehearsals.

Unfortunately selling just to clear space not used as much as my other bass’s, neefs a good home.

No trades, collection or meet up, please ask as I travel a lot for work so naybe able to deliver.

Good luck with the bass specific amps/effects on the Boss O.o it has almost nothing for us low-enders. Helix already smokes it in that department, even without any new models in this update!

    I did say consider 😉

Ive lived the Stomp since i have had it, but this update is a poor showing for the Bass to literally give us nothing, and its ruined and keeps crashing HX edit.

Are you saying you cant get it close to a real BDDI or you just cant get a likeable all tone?

I still have my B1-four and Helix Stomp. When i first got the B1 i did a BDDI test, just in headphones though. I found the Helix BDDI has more life to it, and the B1 sounds a bit thicker. Possibly a lower quality causing this. Still usable though. This is just with mild drive and a P bass.

Cant really suggest anything other than keeping the Blend knob below noon, which is something that gets a lot of new owners. That Blend know is the key to getting a usable tone out of the BDDI.

Definitely just not a likeable tone, seems odd to use so much blend, my head says defeats the object of the pedal unless using extreme drive.

will try using from 9-12 blend (around 30-40%)

Well I'm sure we can all chip in here.

I get that the BDDI can be tricky to dial in e.g. I think it took @Lozz196 several years(!) before he found how to get to the sweet spot on his.

Which Zoom do you / have you had? There are a bunch of very happy BC Zoom users (me included) who get some great sounds out of our Zoom multis - I'd head over to this thread if you still have one:

In terms of the Stomp it would be useful, as a starting point, to understand what the rest of your signal chain is in terms of: what bass you're using, rest of your pedal board, amp and cab.

Following which, hopefully one or more of the many Stomp users on this thread should be able to jump in with a few helpful tips!

Dont gave the zoom anymore upgraded to Helix stomp.

    several bass’s Fender Jazz deluxe.
Ibanez SR1400 active or passive Norstrad preamp and just added a Specter NT aguilar pickups preamp.

signal- Compressor Rochester or la comp- BDDI nothing else into tech 21 deuce deluxe Powered  cab

I kept my BDDI when i got my Stomp, its been my fav pedal over the years. Ive had 3, and this last one was a v2. I realised a few weeks ago i haven’t actually used it since getting the Stomp, as ive been using the Stomp version (normally always on).

    Finally sold it this week.

I have never been able to get a good sound out of a BDDI on Zoom or Stomp,, always sounds like its being played underwater.
Tried using settings iff Sansamp manual.

maybe its just not my thing or getting or i’m just getting it all wroung

  13. Had mine over a week now, had time to gave a real run through NT 4, love the colour and pattern, phenomenal sustain (proper Spinal tap Nigel Tufnell sustain) loads of boom but clarity, generally a more midy sound but not lacking in the low ends, not really used the eq, but sound great everything flat. The Aguilar pickups and pre amp is excellent.

Congrats!! Excellent value for money. Great quality bass with fab pickups and preamp. Enjoy 👍

I gad a Spector A few tears ago Ns2000 or legend, bolt on neck, wasnt too impressed, it felt too rattle’y and thin but muddy sounding at the same time, no warmth or real sustain. But it had a bit loose machine heads that i could not get tighter and not sure the bolts on the neck where up to much.

Heard the Neck through are a different kettle of fish along with the Aquilar pick ups. Hope this  blows  my mind and lives up to the Spector hype. Should be here Thursday.

Stunning looking bass in the vid, just me or do these sound "treble heavy"...?

Don’t  think the video was the best, twiddling too much, i always start everything in the middle and tweak a bit at a time. But if you only have Like 10 minutes and 4 basses to through you will end up just skimming over.
