Or to be precise nuck-nuck-nuckin' on heaven's daw-aw-whoaw. A rare case of where he Dylan original is 100 x better than a specific cover.

+ 1 for Judas Priest's risible Johnny B Goode and I'll add their execrable 'Green Manalishi'

+ 1 for Metallica's Whisky in the jar

No mention yet of Jagger and Bowie's atrocious Dancing in the Street nor of the woeful Aerosmith take on Come Together. Then again Aerosmith have been terminally shyt3 so perhaps they didn't know any better.

Green Manalishi is epic The original is dark n broody but Priests version is sensational see also Diamonds and Rust. Give you Jonny b goode

The Disturbed version of Sound of Silence is a better rendition of the words. They're very powerful words and the original S&G version has either been got at by the film producers or sung deliberately like that for some reason. I'm not up with 60s protest songs and that part of US history is a bit difficult to understand.

Although I think the Disturbed version is trying too hard to be different. A lot of the phrasing and some tuning has been changed in an effort to make it different. Probably didn't need to do that.

Another one i like, like the original and this for different reasons

I have the boss waza bass cans. Its a joy to use — not being restricted by cables. Sound quality is great and it enabled me to relearn a loooonnng setlist after the extended lockdown/social distancing break. It isn't cheap but I consider it a worthwhile investment. My way of using it is to take live/rehearsal recordings of the band and remove my bass using RipX. I put these bassless tracks into a playlist on my iPhone and play along using the Waza Air.

They do look the Dogz sound wise usability, sound line you are really getting great usage out of them.
    Food for thought!

Very good imo, I’m really liking it, great sound quality and connects easily with iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth but you do need a cable for the headphones which don’t really get in the way

Can cope with headphone cable still use wired headphones on my phone. It the tone app any good for these?

Hi, I haven’t got one as I use the NUX , there’s some good reading here, I don’t know if you’ve seen it

No I haven’t, search ed in the effects section and misc section as a though more a multi effect unit than amp.

whats the NUX like that looks a good inexpensive alternative.

  9. Last dedicated Compressor pedal I had was a Seymour Duncan studio bass , decided to ditch it (regrettably) when I went to the Helix Stomp. Love the Stomp and the Compressors are good but ultimately feel too digital and just more of an affect. So decided to look at a dedicated compressor again. Wanted the Cali but just could not justify the price as I’m just more a hobbyist and occasional jammer nowadays. Looked at the Boss and the Mxr (which both looked good value) also the Jam pedals which is a two nob compressor which felt too simplistic and I am a fan of Jam pedals.
Then Saw the Keeley which had great reviews and it was on sale at a bargain price if £125 brand new (£199 usually) from a place I’ve not heard of before called HotRoxuk. Great fast postage and tracking from them will be using them again.

Plugged it in everything at noon, threshold, gain at zero/unity compression 4:1 at noon, twiddled about a bit sounds fantastic, transparent nor tone loss, just a bit of squish when digging in hard, just what i always wanted, totally dynamic and not to fast not too slow response, even at full infinity it never really squashed the sound too much. Have it set at threshold about 11.30 -45 gain about 12.15-30 compression 4:1 12 i clock and that’s it might need slight tweaking on different basses but marginally. Great pedal and almost the definition of what a compressor should be.  Could not recommend it enough and at that bargain price ( still a few left)

disclaimer: i have no affiliation with Hit rox uk!

Rotosound 77 Jazz Bass flats are my absolute favourite strings.

    @Rollin Thunder If it's a 5-string set, I'm interested.

    Mark

Moved them on, replaced them with some Newtone SS rounds.  Happier now.

want to like flats but also want to like single malt scotch, but sadly neither are for me.

Rotosound jazz flats are the only flats I don't like. They had far too much tension for me and the last time I bought them the winding was inconsistant making each string felt different.

    My curent favourites are:

    • D'addario Chromes ECB81M 45-100 on my Fender Mustangs
    • Ernie Ball Cobalt Flatwound Extra Slinky 40-95 on my Epiphone Vintage Pro Thunderbirds

    I don't have a favourite roundwound as I don't use them.

I forgot to mention the tension, oh the tension could have used the bass at Agincourt or Crecy

  12. I’ve tried flats various brands and types over the years and never really liked them at all.

recently against my better judgement I decided to put some Rotosound jazz flat’s on my Fender P/J and to my surprise I still don’t like Flats, been on 2 weeks took them off and put done Steel rounds on and keerrpoowww dynamic power.
I’m sure Flats are just fine for some people but to me they’re just like chewing on a sticky toffee that just sticks to your teeth.

anyway if anyone wants a set if Hardly used flats bargen to be had, they will be on the marketplace very soon.
