  1. I think we have a winner from a looks perspective.
  2. I feel you’re setting yourself up for a purchase. Pretty good way to go out though.
  3. Damn, I missed the vote!
  4. Arrested For Driving While Blind - ZZ Top
  5. With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker
  6. Squier CV Mustang. You could add a flashy pickguard too. You’ve got to want to pick it up.
  7. Some basses have a much smaller tuner capstans and this puts too much strain on the unsilked portion that inevitably becomes wrapped around the tuner on shorter scales.
  8. Leaving on a Jet Plane - John Denver
  9. Dammit, I shouldn’t have posted earlier as this prompted me to pull the HB out of the cupboard and give it a play. Now I’m looking at that EMG GZR PJ set! Fortunately, it’s on back order, so nothing will happen in the short term.
  10. Pick any era for popular music and there is real gold to be found in equal measure to dross.
  11. I can’t believe that I’ve been GAS free for so long (3 months is a long time for me) and I’m not even on the lookout for anything. The only thing I can think of is upgrading the pickups in my HB ‘stangalike (EMG GZRs), but then the pickups would be worth more than the whole bass as it stands at the moment. Anyway, it’s hiding in a cupboard currently, so out of sight, etc.
  12. I’m not a reggae aficionado like most here and that term was new to me. Fortunately, the style didn’t turn out to be some unholy mashup that the phrase implies. Phew!
  13. That cheesy keyboard sound is absolutely hateful.
  14. I loved Northern Exposure and have the first part of series one on DVD. So many good characters and stories. Hill Street Blues was another firm favourite.
  15. The walnut bodied ones are the way to go if you prefer a lightweight bass. The maple ones, however, often drift into boat anchor territory, much like my old 4003s. If only I hadn’t been seduced by the Fireglo finish, I might still be a Ric owner.
  16. Stoat On - The Floaters
  17. Probably a bit of both, coupled with a lot of buyers not knowing much about them.
  18. Hare - Graham Central Station
  19. Mouse of the Rising Sun - The Animals
  20. Squier 40th anniversary P bass leaning against the rig, with my Maruszczyk Elwood L hiding behind in its gigbag.
  21. If you've got £150 going spare, there's your answer. Looks great.
  22. It’s a connection between this and a childhood memory that causes the problem. The Ska thing is great.
  23. 747 (Strangers in the Night) - Saxon
  24. I can see where you are coming from. There is often a certain production value that piles on the schmaltz. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised when I first heard Tim Minchin’s White Wine in the Sun, some interesting lyrics. My Boy Lollipop makes my skin crawl. Normally, it’s the artists performing a song that raises my ire, not the song in itself. It’s entire catalogues that are ruined because of the performer for me.
  25. Literally playing on the radio right now! The River - The Boss
