£200 + VAT
That's pretty impressive. I had a de-fret done many years ago that cost £110 inc strings and that was just fret removal and slot filing (which I thought was pretty reasonable and was very happy with), never mind a whole new board and ebony to boot!
A cracking pair you have there; enjoy. -

Of course, the guitardist turns around and turns up the amp. Why would we expect any different?
I think that would be a young Frank Gambale by the look of him. -

I don't think this is very fair, putting the blame for a lacklustre show on those of us that haven't bought tickets. Surely it's the organisers' responsibilty to make an event appealing enough to attract the punters?
Quite. I go to the cinema to see films that interest me, not support the film industry by going just for the sake of it. Why should I spend money on a show that doesn't have anything that I want to see? Blaze Publicity are a business, not a charity. -

Slightly off topic, saw Chris & Harry play with "Bad Influence" a few times at The Windsor Castle in Carshalton - great rhythm section!! .
Chris's playing with Bad Flatulence was a big influence on me when I started playing.
I have my ticket for Thunder at The 'ammersmith, the last time I saw them at the Astoria they were brilliant, best gig ever type of brilliant. -

Yes, last years amount of exhibitors was lacking in comparison to the year befores, but apparently this has been sorted, and there isn`t a guitar show on in NEC at same time (think that was the reason why if recall correctly).

I believe it's a week earlier and budgets are still tight, so I'd expect money to be spent there rather than on the low end (I'm thinking Fender, Gibson, Yamaha, etc). -
For speed and stamina Rio and Rhythm Stick are right up there, for complexity and getting just right, Haitian Divorce and Babooshka.
-
Fantastic live basses, simple as. I finish a gig, no matter how long, and I could easily keep playing, almost no fatigue. Sound wise, they're great in the mix.
-
So - Peter Gabriel. Still sounds fresh today and you get to hear the 'forgotten' tracks like Hear That Voice Again.

Like any hobbyist magazine after a year or so all the editorial feels a bit circular - there's only so much you can say.
Very true. However, there is no excuse for interviewing the same old players again and again (they still haven't interviewed Pino or got hold of Bruce Thomas despite numerous suggestions) and do we really need another article on Jaco or Jamerson (no diss intended here, but we've read all before numerous times). There are some things in BGM's back catalogue that are worth repeating though; the five way shoot outs and fretless feature were very good but have disappeared from their pages. It was a really good mag and I subscribed for years but no longer. -

Nice one. We, the Missus and I liked that.
Interesting tone. Is that the Ibby fretless?
No, that's my Rob Allen MB2. Because there is no drummer the big bottom end fills out the sound nicely, although to be fair I do boost the mids on the Phil Jones for this gig. It fits right in for Hey You of course. -
As you can guess from the band's name it's a Floyd tribute. Guitar, bass and keys with backing track for the drums and special effects. I replaced the incumbent bass player mid last year and took on lead vocals (pretty scary as I normally only sing BVs and the occasional lead). Here's a short video from our last gig...

Just enjoy the SG bass.
+1 if it sounds great and plays great, looks are a minor consideration. -
Soul Music was the novel that got me into the whole Discworld series, really funny and lots of muso in jokes; recommended.

Makes me think that although the speakers themselves don`t have different sounds, the manufacturers make the cabs to have specific sounds.
Very much so, my Ashdown 2x10 cabs were decidedly mid scooped, whilst my Schroeder 2x12 had a push in the lower mids. Decide on the size/weight of cab you require, check this against your budget and then let your ears make the decision. -
Wilkommen aus BassChat. Nothing wrong with supporting home grown manufacturers, Europe has some fantastic luthiers and need our support (with full disclosure in mind, none of my instruments or rig are EU made; bad Ezbass ).

Does that provide variable amounts of dirt according to how hard you dig in? Is it reasonably clear or a little congested sounding (as I've heard in some vids).
I find it's pretty player reactive. It adds a little crunch at low levels which cleans up nicely from the vol knob, or gives really smooth gain when wound right up. -

Looks promising. Interestingly enough Guitar Guitar currently have ESP basses on sale with BIG discounts!
http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars_detail.asp?stock=14101713554649 they have 4 stringers too. -
Brilliant! Ultimately this is what learning to play an instrument us all about - performance.
-
Oh my! Rocco gets/endorses yet another signature product, him and Adam Clayton sure do get about sig kit wise. Rocco with a 5 stringer; that's new.
-
I had to take the spring out of the bridge on my B string to get somewhere close to correct intonation on my Ibby GWB35 once I fitted it with flats (it was OK with rounds). However, it now occurs to me, when do I ever play the B string above the 12th fret?

Phil Jones combos, there's a Suitcase for sale on BC at the mo http://basschat.co.uk/topic/253300-fs-phil-jones-bass-suitcase/page__p__2662126__hl__phil%20jones__fromsearch__1#entry2662126

Oo-er! I had to use an X2 at a recent low-level rehearsal, and I thought it sounded shocking - made the guitar sound very thin.
-
No bass type GAS at the moment but I do fancy a Fender Super Champ X2 for my guitar GAS (although the Roland Blues Cube with Eric Johnson plug in is also verrrry interesting).

The RGs are always going to be spot on, but don't forget the Sterling by MusicMan SUB series for new purchases or the SBMM JP and LK guitars 2nd hand. IMO find a guitar that you to play and replace the pickups with something more appropriate if required.
