Confirmed..,.. Wet pants
Quite rightly too. Having a custom built bass is exciting enough, but to then have a blow by blow pictorial build diary (and I'm guessing other person to person updates) is something extra special.

  2. I don't know if you guys have seen this vid (it seems new). It features a Frog with an ACG/East filter preamp with familiar looking pickups. In fact the general look of the area of the bass shown in the vid is very familiar.

Oooh, just had an email from Adrian saying my Jake will be sent out next week. Just got to pay him now! :)
Exciting times!!! I'm looking forward to receiving that email in about 10 weeks :)

    Match sticks deployed!

Is it normal for strap locks to rattle? Quite annoying. Guess I'll get used to it.

    Cheers guys
Yes, Schaller types do rattle significantly.

No bastardisation required. Just put a matchstick or toothpick in the screw hole and break it off then screw in the smaller screw. Job done!

I just looked at the 'No Bull' locks on Google (they look like Schaller clones) and the screws do look very thin, so the toothpick/matchstick fix is the way forward IMO.

  6. Congrats; a real beauty. :)

I think all the necks are a bit different, I picked up a walnut S the other day and the far end of the neck certainly felt chunkier than my rosewood S. One very nice benefit of the walnut/maple build over the all maple is the weight saving. Enjoy.

  7. I fancy we're more slagging off the manner of the criticism, not necessarily the content. Saying someone's tone is 'unpleasant' is hardly good etiquette. Asking if said player had tried using overdrive is a far less confrontational way of making your thoughts known.

  8.
I doubt you sounded sh*t. That guy probably just likes more overdrive than you do.
He might've been listening with his eyes and because he didn't see an SVT and 'fridge' he made the very rude comment.

They were playing Mountain's, Nantucket Sleigh-ride on the radio today and Felix Pappallardi's distorted tone was truly horrible to my ears (YMMV), not at all like Andy Fraser's exemplary Gibson EB tones.

    What are you going for?
Maple over alder Elwood L body, two tone sunburst, satin finish; ebony, lined fretless, 33" scale, 22 'frets', 41mm nut width; drop D tuner; Bassculture humbucker with passive circuit (vol, tone, series/parallel/single coil on a 3 way rotary); fitted with flat wounds. I mocked this up from a number of the stock Maruszczyk shots. If it comes out anything like this, I'll be very happy. I'm hoping that Adrian is going to exhibit at the LGBS and it'd be ready for that, then I could go and pick it up in person. But I'm happy to wait for as long as it takes.
