Cheap? (not sure) Rockbag
Annoying Twit replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It's horrid.
True the colour could be better. But even though I posted it here thinking it might be of use for someone else, if I bought it for my Rockbass that would mean that all my instruments have some degree of protection. -
I thought the padded rockbags went for more than this? Note that the seller tries to disclaim responsibility for packages lost in the post unless you pay an extra quid for insurance. But at least there's the occasional "interesting" instrument around. Maybe they got a bulk discount on the abalone. Edit: Do those pickups look quite wide for a 4 string?
1) What do you look for in a music shop? Good prices, as cheap as the net.
I'm prepared to pay a bit more to buy something in a shop, but not a whole lot more.

If I was buying one I'd want it in dysentery green.
I thought that would be about going rate for the wonderful JV series.
THere seem to be many examples of people buying JV precision basses of similar vintage (and from Japan) cheaper here: http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews...ision+Bass/10/1 Can't see a review section for JV series Jazz basses. Would they be very different in price?

What a great idea for a thread. Since I'm unlikely to buy anything soon, it gives me an excuse to look on ebay and post listings. Over and above trying to be the first one to find the truly weird stuff. Here's a Stagg BC300 plus tuner + strap for £134.99 plus £14.99 postage. Damn pity they listing for the bass alone at £159 isn't there any more. A sticky, bass and family related situation
Annoying Twit replied to neepheid's topic in General Discussion
I would think it incredibly unlikely that someone would screw their brother for a bass. Personally I sometimes get into an uncommunicative mode if I'm meant to have done something and not got around to it. Just embarrassment, and me thinking that I'll get it done tomorrow (yeah, right), and it'll be less embarrassing to speak once the overdue job/whatever is done. If your brother is like me, it could be something as simple as that. "Never attribute to malice that which can equally be explained by stupidity". Or in this case, maybe that should be "procrastination" rather than "stupidity". Edit: I should have read all the replies before replying. I see that you're thinking "head in the sand" as of your last post here. -
Thanks. Over twice as much for the American standard, I now see. http://www.reverb-store.co.uk/product-detail.asp?prod=1948

Where is this bass likely to be made? At the price, I'd presume Mexico. http://www.reverb-store.co.uk/product-detail.asp?prod=869

Surely that's a fairly small target market. Of course, for the person who actually wants one this could be a find.... Not that I claim extensive knowledge, but I didn't know that there were Rickenbacker basses of this style back in the 60s. £6999?!?! Warwick Streamer Jazzman - Bargain at £1300!
Annoying Twit replied to Trace_n_bass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
That seller is not the only one with a tenuous grasp of reality. This rockbass streamer has a starting bid over twice what I paid for mine on here. 0 bids. It is cheaper than the only one available currently, which is £484.63 from the US. The only completed listing with a sale is again in the US, with a sale price of £417. So, it looks like £320 was a reasonable deal. But still no bids.

Orange bass practice amp £45
Annoying Twit replied to Annoying Twit's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It seems to have more local stuff than gumtree. @markytbass, you may thank me, but I bet your wallet doesn't -
One of my local shops is having a massive new year sale. I walked in and it was half empty, but I'm told they're not going out of business, and that they do this every year. They're selling Johnson J-basses (and some with PJ and some with P pickups) for £60. That's the cheapest I've seen new basses for in a shop! I'm not sure, but I think the basses all had J-bass style bodies. Just curious if anyone's ever seen new basses for cheaper.

Hi. Has anyone tried out the bass amp model on the free (for one year) version of Waves GTR Solo software amp sim + effects? For guitar I'm hoping that this and other free software will do me for a year, by which time I'll know much more about making sounds and will be able to choose better. But for bass, it's only got one amp model. I was hoping to link up VST amp models to a looper, and spend a lot of time creating improvised music with bass, guitar, and hopefully drum loops. There seem to be free VSTs for guitar amps if I can't use GTR Solo as a VST (which I think I can, but don't know how yet - I've been running it standalone). Looking at some of the reviews here, e.g. of the Pod X3, it seems that bass amp simulations can be very hit and miss, with some of them being good for producing overdriven sounds, and some of them not. E.g. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=15053 Is the one in Waves Solo any good? Are the cabs and mic'ing options any good for bass? Or is there another product that I should use for bass? http://www.wavesgtr.com/html/product_gtr_solo.html

(I'm using various software and hardware simulators). But I'm thinking that some sort of modelling amp would be best, and I don't need to buy one yet as my eventual aim is recording, not playing live. I'm still thinking that ... eventually .... a Roland Cube 30-100 would be a reasonable choice.

One F# - B - E - A, and the other D - G - C - F. Doesn't say anything about them, materials, gauge, etc.

It's a Ric Jim, but not as we know it
I'm still hoping this is a photoshop mock up! In fact that gives me an idea for a new thread......
Here's an example of the kind of stuff found on the site. http://www.oddmusic.com/gallery/om32400.html I'd add pictures and stuff if mod moves this thread to off topic. -

If that's the answer, I guess the question was "How would the world be different if Steve Wishnevsky had been born in India?" -
Maybe this should be in "off topic"?
