  1. The HB power plant iso2-pro is awesome! Completely isolated and extremely quiet, worth £61 from Thomann. I already love the optocomp, classic preamp is amazing, working on the scrambler and the chorus is just what is 😎 with my US pbass through the classic preamp, optocomp & liquifier pedal, I swear I had Phil Lynotts bass sound on Jailbreak! All the Ampeg pedals are well made and sound great for the relatively cheap price 👍
  2. My board 😁
  3. I have a Bugera BV100T and absolutely love it! For me, it does Ampeg easily and has been extremely reliable thus far. Yeah the V$-B will likely be my next purchase
  4. I've never tried Markbass gear but the PFT50 works with my cabs: Hartke AK410, Hartke HD112 & TC Electronic BC208. It drives them all beautifully. I think the EQ will suit you on the PF50T as the mid range selector is cool and the high/low switching gives you access to deeper bass response through the EQ. It is incredibly clean in tone on start up, the rest is your preference.
  5. 100% agree, the guys at Ashdown are fantastic! Unfortunately my head is Ampeg voiced. The Classic blows me away every time I hear it and there is good reason for it being the staple diet of stages across the world. I had one but decided that the weight of it was just too much but and this is a baaaaad but, I'm thinking of another one 😮
  6. They are pretty cheap but effective like Bugera equipment. I work for a college, we bought in 8 Peavey Windsor valve guitar combos and the guitar head version of the V2B, everyone of them failed within the first year. Disappointing but what a sound when working.
  7. I have one and can honestly say, it is fantastic! I have practiced and gigged with it, it just works, is silent, plug n play and is plenty loud! It's like an SVT classic gone through the washing machine (not literally) and shrunk to fit perfect little monster.
  8. You're a git lol I had my credit card out there! Must resist, must resist!!!
  9. I know how that feels lol My middle kid, ripped a very expensive cartridge off my Linn Sondek at the time, I fixed it and sold the Linn at that point. However, all three are grown up and I can enjoy the full hifi experience again
  10. Superb turntables! are you playing it through the compact system on the left? If so, you oughta here the Rega with other separates, Wow!
  11. Nice Rega RP1 in the background 👍
  12. Wait till you get your arms and ears around an Ampeg SVT classic 🤭 lol
  13. Most of my gear is either full valve or hybrid but I would love another SVT classic or V4 or 120w tube amp or anything tube lol 😂
  14. http://www.georgedennis.eu/pages/bassamps.htm Look amazing 😮
  15. The valves were from Hotrox UK, I was very fussy and bought matched pairs of Electro-Harmonics premium guaranteed valves. It’s 4xEL84s, 2x12ax7s and 1x12au7 from memory. When you bought it, the valves had max 12hrs use - even if that. It was a different amp after fitting the EH valves, it simply became alive. It is singularly, the best Ashdown head ever!! IMO of course 😁
  16. Definitely more clarity, presence and volume. If I recall correctly, Merton above bought it off of me so, he may provide a better review 👍
  17. I had the LB30, took the Chinese Ruby’s out and replaced them with EH tubes. Made such a difference to an already awesome amp.
  18. One of our members Thornybank, has more Trace equipment than you could shake a stick at 😎 PM him as is a really good guy 👍
  19. He does do that and his tone is pretty good. I think it’s all about the fact that the other guitarist just wanders in, sets up his 18w valve head, connects it to his orange 1x12 cab, powers it on and he’s there! Lol 😂 So, Scott has decided to sell his Peavey 5150 and 4x12 to get a smaller lighter rig that can do a similar job. However he is struggling a little due to the amount of guitar gear available promising the moon on a stick.
  20. Fantastic 👍👏 link copied and sent on. Will see where his head goes and what he ends up buying. For now, I’ve loaned him my old much smaller and lighter than the Vox, Marshall AVT50.
  21. At the moment a Vox Valvetronic AC30 thingy that is too heavy and failing.
  22. The guitarist Scott, is very literal and will only accept scientific technical proof of why valve amps are louder! It's infuriating at times because I tried to explain volume curve or headroom in that an SS breaks up much quicker than a Valve amp but this was not enough to satisfy his thirst for his quest.
  23. Indeed and as you know, the PF50T partnered with an efficient cab, cuts through a mix beautifully 👍
  24. It’s not quite him and the price tag is bit on the high side at the moment. I suggested a Blackstar.
  25. One of the guys in the band asked me a few days ago why the other guitarists 18w Hughes and Kettner tubemeister gets over superbly in the mix given the rest of us are not short on watts? He is currently looking to buy a new amp but cannot get a reasonable explanation as to why valve amps just sound louder than all the other classes? So, I thought I would throw the question out to all you great guys here to see if there is a simple or technical answer for him. cheers all Andy
