  1. They really are stupid heavy. I love valve heads but I wont get anything over 20kg. I think that's my limit, even then I had to carry my CTM-100 down 2 streets due to parking constraints and I felt like my arms were about to fall off.
  2. Those P-style pickups for 5 stringers with the blank gap on the treble side...aaahhhhh
  3. How is that achievable...or even sustainable (excuse the pun)
  4. Well judging by the contributors on this thread I'm either a complete slob with no taste or you're all completely mental! 😂
  5. They sound great and have a really high output, really punchy.
  6. This is a early iteration of the Jabba-4. I guess they were just using stock parts. I thin the latest ones uses their own design, tell you what...Its a cracking bass to play.
  7. It cant be got for that discontinued model of bass (I asked Mayones). Anyway , I'm not keen on drilling holes into the body.
  8. when you turn up all the knobs on your jazz bass and the pointer isn't continuous through the 3 knobs, i.e. the pointers are slightly out of alignment. ...thats heart breaking.
  9. I once used my CTM-100 with the two10 on its side. It was a bit ridiculous looking and verging on a safety hazard.
  10. This is bound to upset folks...anyway here are amp setups ive used. 😁
  11. If you’re into old school valve heads and don’t want to use a 4x10 you’re kinda caught there . Never bothered me so long as all 4 feet touch the cap OR the cap fits between the feet. Partial feet resting on the cab is just ridiculous
  12. I got obsessed a while there with having the relief and string action exactly “right” , got feeler gauges and those metal string height gauges to get the height “correct” which always felt a little on the high side for me . Eventually I threw out the rule book and Adjusted the neck relief and bridge action to what felt and sounded right to me and I couldn’t be happier.
  13. People over valuing their item
  14. I think those glowing bottles are mercury vapour rectifier valves . I say the thing sounds marvellous
  15. Didn’t stop me nearly buying one of those second hand ABM 810s available at Ashdown
  16. You won’t get much good out of high powered amps and 8x10s turned up to 1 though . Maybe this the the final thing that will kill the “big rig”
  17. Just browsing around here it seems a lot of people are trying to unload surplus gear with this covid-19 situation, some for much smaller money than I've ever seen. and that's just the musicians. The whole industry must be on the verge of collapse. I wonder will a lot of stores and even websites go to the wall 😗
  18. I was toying with the idea of selling mine but decided to get it serviced instead. I sent it to Ashdown where Guy there fixed a few bits and bobs, now I think I'll hang onto it as It sounds great. Like yourself I didn't really gig with it as much and used solid state amps, but when this is all over I intend to make it earn its keep.
  19. I haven't played my one in anger in a long time 😥
  20. A lot of CTM30s /LB30s for sale at the moments on this site . A great way to get into valves .
