  1. I purchased this lovely P bass in the good ol' USA before the COVID hit. Was planning on using it for some gigs over the Pond, which didn't happen. So here she is back in the UK and needs a good home. I'm pretty happy with my Ric, so off this beauty goes. The shape of the neck on the Am. Pro's is really comfy. They certainly nailed it with this shape and feel. I really like the taller frets too. I didn't totally dig the pick ups, hence I've put the very well regarded Lindy Fralin (standard wound) pick up which sounds super vintage and growly. A great fit for this bass. It comes with a very nice soft case that slides into a SKB TSA approved Bass Case ,which is a fantastic option for travelling with a hard case, but also having the option of a soft case. I don't have the original case, as it's back in the States....same with the original pick up. The bass has a few swirl marks, but no dings and looks almost as new. £1250 shipped mainland UK.
  2. Come and check us out if you can! Something to look forward to this year....I hope!
  3. Wow! Quick reply. Many thanks! I found a Vintera Mustang here in the States for cheap, but the fretboard doesn't do it for me. Needs to be darker to have that vintage vibe. Haven't had the chance to A/B it with my American Performer Mustang, but it also cost half of the American model....maybe I'll learn to love the Vintera?
  4. Fretboard looks great. What did you use to darken it?
  5. Ya, the Chinese faker (walnut) had a great sound as stock.....amazing sound with real Ric controls and pick ups. Very well made....but very thick neck (funny...not uncomfortable for me), but the bass was HEAVY. I sold it when we finished our run of Beatles/Stones cover gigs and went with a deal from Bass Centre on one of their Guy Pratt Betsy basses. But, I really now want a USA quality instrument to gig.
  6. I just ordered these as I'm very much a flatwound guy. I've always used Chromes, but they say the T-I's have less tension and better match the stick Ric strings size (and nut slot spacing).
  7. 4003s jetglo in the mail and inbound next week.
  8. I was hoping the thread would go in this direction!😂
  9. Had one! Too many darn switches, knobs and wizbangery going on....I got confused.
  10. Hummm, Was wondering that. What do gigging musicians do when travelling back from the States with their guitars? When I moved all of our stuff over from the States I had a USA jazz bass and '76 vintage bass, luckily no charges on those....but those were shipped in a container with our furniture.
  11. Yes, that does worry me that Ric's do seem to catch the eyes of thieves. I'll have to be careful on that front.
  12. Didn't know that. I'll do some research....and see what United says🙄
  13. Thanks man! It's that chickenbacker bass I had in this clip that made me want to go to a real Ric. The Chinese one had a REALLY thick neck and weighed in at 6.5 kilos! A deal killer for 2 sets. Please come check us out if we're near you in 2021!
  14. It was the last one in stock, needed to act fast at that price.
  15. Here's the Ric copy when we played some theatres last year (pre COVID)....blasphemy I know to play a chickenbacker, but it really was a great bass and it lead to me trying the Ric shape and eventually lead to me getting the real deal. (I just pulled the trigger on the jetglo 4003s)
  16. Yep, has a Ric case (it's a new instrument), but I would worry checking the bass with the case provided. I would feel better with a flight case. Also, we do stack our equipment for travel and sometimes my bass gets stuck on the bottom of the pile in the van.
  17. I did have an original USA Ric (briefly) I imported 4 years ago, but I was a bit low on cash....and worried about having a Ric out on pub gigs etc. Luckily I have little more financial cushion and we've graduated to theatre shows and larger venues, so the Ric should fit in better and I won't worry so much about it. I had a Ric copy (with real Ric pick ups and controls) I used last year, so I know the shape and general feel will be ok with me.
  18. Only he knows the answer to that! But, I do admit, listening to past shows we've done, the P bass lacks some clarity and the jazz soundsa bit better.
  19. I was going to try sending it through sendmybag.com that forwards unaccompanied luggage. You can fill out a customs form yourself....which may be handy....This new 40003s is £1200 ($1600) which is hugely lower than anything you can find in the UK.....which makes the purchase a no brainer me thinks. I could probably even buy a flight case and be cheaper and just check the bass when I fly.
  20. OK, I'm here in the States taking care of dear old mum who's on her last legs and since I'm here for an extended period of time, I need to keep my head clear.....and keep my chops up as I'm hoping our 60's tribute band will be back in action for 2021. I've been playing a Bass Centre Betsy jazz bass which as been a good bass. Not aw inspiring, but a really good bass for the price and seems to fit in to our band well. BUT, wouldn't a Ric be fantastic for a 60's band? (carnabyarmy.com). I've tried a few different basses with the band (ok LOTS)....my preference being a P bass, but the complaint is that (no matter which P I use the lead singer complains about the frequency and that he can't sing over it......whatever dude....so I've been going for more clarity. Maybe a Ric will do that? I can get a new Ric 40003s jet glo here for £1200....and use a bag fowarding company to ship it back to the UK so I don't have the hassles of checking the bag. What you all think? Get that Ric for the 60's band?
  21. ...just fooling! Obviously no gig, but we did do this video in it's place as we isolate at home. Enjoy!
  22. Well last night we were due to play the Epsom Playhouse.....which obviously wasn't going to happen, so instead we did a video of Something by the Beatles. Enjoy!
  23. Nice condition Fender Rumble 500 v3. Purchased new from GAK less than a year ago. Used for a few gigs, but now mostly going ampless, so don't need the 500. Sad to see her go, but it does me no good not being played. Please have a look at the knobs and in a fit of desperation at a gig I used permanent marker to label the tops of the knobs. Easier to see now! Happy to meet within reason for collection. Possible trades (w/ money my way) for Rumble 100/200. Not going to attempt to ship this as I no longer have the original box. Paypal or cash fine. Thanks!
  24. This is the price I paid from the States....it will ship to my mother in FL and get here somehow🤫....saving considerably on the UK price.
