Travelled back to the States this week and coming home are a '73 Rickenbacker 4000 with ton's of mojo and a 2006 like new condition USA 60th Anniversary P bass. Man, that Ric plays amazing and sounds fantastic even with just one pick up. Can't wait to rock it with my band later this month.

Carnaby Army Goodwood Revival 2021

2021 Brighton Modfest:

Two weeks before the event I had a call from a Goodwood event manager (although she didn't say who she was representing). She just asked if our band could play for three days on the weekend of September 17, 18, 19. I said, sounds interesting, but it's very short notice, we will see. Some of the boys were already engaged on some of the days, but then I got an email from the organizer and that's when I saw that she represented the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Holy camolly, we had to make this work as it is not only a super fun event with retro clothing and really cool fast retro cars, it is also a great way to showcase our band. We worked on pricing as well as getting the drummers other band to cover for us Saturday as most of us from Carnaby Army were already engaged that day. The bummer was we had to load in by 0830....which meant the alarm went off at 0430 for most of us! We arrived in already building traffic to fight our way into the car parks. Everyone was scattered about, but it was a beautiful morning and to entertain the folks who were parking they had a morning flyover of Spitfires, Hurricanes and even a P-51 mustang to this Yank happy. Dawn at the parking area near the airstrip: We eventually were gathered up by a group of "American" army folks in retro WW2 outfits and complete with a WW2 era GMC truck. We shared the ride with some jazzers who were playing another stage at the event. Pedro (lead guitar) got his own lift into the venue in a Willys....nice! Kev and Dave etc. doing the set up thing. It was a pretty small stage. But we made it work. The fantastic crowd made up for the tight quarters. We happened to be in the vintage cycling section which meant I was in heaven, as I'm a cycling fanatic. We got to mingle with 6 time Olympic gold medalist Chris Hoy and the journalist Ned Boulting. Your's truly with the Great Ned Boulting! (who's that you ask? then you're probably not a cyclist) Off to to the races (so to speak): I took over Pedro's BV parts as he had a sore throat. Not ideal, but don't think it sounded too bad. We shared a hospitality trailer for the weekend with a rather dour brass band and these Cat's from Trinidad and Tobago who were great fun. I used to live and work in Trinidad, so we hit it off. Obligatory band shot: Back at it for Sunday's Sets: Some of the sightseeing was amazing. What a crowd! And the racing! My goodness. I'm not a petrol head, but my father was and it brought a tear to me eye to see and here the action on the track. They even shipped in a dozen or so American Street rods, complete with 50s band. Fantastic! Considering this was pretty last minute and we had to juggle dep musicians and some crazy schedules, I'm glad we pulled it off. Really hoping we can do it again next year as it's really an epic weekend.

On another note....he was just on the Rockenteurs podcast (Guy Pratt and Gary Kemp). Got me grooving to JD and NO for the day! https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/s1e54-peter-hook/id1530701242?i=1000536611629 -
I'm now a P bass guy....this week. This was my gigging bass for a few shows. And it's a great bass. I love Fiesta Red and I love nitro, so I stripped it and resprayed it with NW Guitar nitro. You can see the procedure here on a Talkbass thread: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/this-is-how-you-paint-a-bass-when-you-have-zero-patience.1507848/ It's been shielded properly and has Fender Custom Shop '60s Jazz Pickups installed and a custom vintage harness. Very quite bass for a jazz bass and nice vintage Jazz tone. (I have the original harness and pickups someplace in storage and will gladly mail those out when we sort out our move!) The light nitro paint means this will relic and mojofy quickly (as it already has). So this is a players bass. Please see the photos. Also note, there is slight check at the neck heal. Only noticed once I stripped back the poly top coat. Not structural. Another nice thing about these basses is that they have the carbon reinforcement rods like their American big brothers. Strung with LaBella low tension flats and includes original Fender gig bag. Can't ship at the moment, but I travel between Lymington and West London weekly and happy to meet in a reasonable radius. Might consider a trade for a American P bass with rosewood and 1 5/8" nut with money your way.

Great condition. Having a bass clear out as I've had a real issue with spontaneous bass regeneration. I just purchased a Fender American Original P bass so I need to get some things sold! Very good condition, but with a few minor blemishes. This satin finish on the Performer series seems like a light finish, so it will mojofy quicker and better then full on poly basses....if you dig that sort of thing, which I do.....Also includes case candy and Fender truss rod tool as well as original gig bag. Professionally installed Aguilar AG 4P/J-HC hum cancelling pick ups were added which balance and sound fantastic. It's the pick up to have for a PJ arrangement in my opinion. The original pick ups will be included in the sale. Strung with Elixir round wounds which sound great. Can't ship at the moment, but I travel weekly between Lymington and West London area so happy to meet within a reasonable radius.

Great condition. Having a bass clear out as I've had a real issue with spontaneous bass regeneration. I just purchased a Fender American Original P bass so I need to get some things sold! I had been playing a Jazz bass for a year or so and then got the P bass bug and have gone through a series of basses. I was actually torn between my two Player series basses and an American Original P bass. The AO won out, but holy cow these Player series basses are fantastic. I purchased this new at the end of July and used it for a few days until I decided I wanted the sunburst with rosewood. This bass is as new with original strings. It has a good set up and includes the case candy and tools as well as a new gig bag. Can only do local pick up but I travel weekly between Lymington and West London (Kingston) and happy to deliver within a rteasonable radius.

Great condition. Having a bass clear out as I've had a real issue with spontaneous bass regeneration. I just purchased a Fender American Original P bass so I need to get some things sold! Purchased this here on Basschat and never ended up using it as long scale basses have taken precedent. No case candy, but includes plain white scratch plate as well as translucent tortoise shell and white perloid. No gig bag but includes the snazzy short scale bass hard case. Strung with D'Addario Chrome medium scale strings. Right now I don't have the time to pack and ship but I travel weekly between Lymington on the coast to West London (Kingston) and happy to meet within a reasonable radius. Just moved house, so don't have a scale, but it's certainly not a heavy bass. Give me a jingle if you have any questions.
