Stanley Clarke sure is funky. I guess before you go buying individual albums try a compilation. For slap there was a bloke in a band called Level 42 that was quite good. Maybe your difficulty in finding good slap bass to listen to is cos its not popular now. Bass wise you cant go wrong with a Jazz but there are a few nice J type basses for sale at the mo - including a Lakland Jerry Scheff and a GB Spitfire that is the dogs danglies.

Badass I does not fit Fender holes. Badass II does fit Fender holes but does not have through body stringing. Badass III fits Fender holes and through body stringing. I think.

Over rated means all the people that think The Who were the greatest are wrong - unless my understanding of the english language has changed. Homer is right - it is impossible to compare todays crap bands with the greats of the past.

Most bands in the 60's covered motown songs - including The Who, Beatles, Kinks, Stones etc. I used to have all The Who's LP's but when I replaced with CD's I just go the 4 disk box set and the albums that mattered - Tommy, Live At Leeds, Who's Next and Quadrophenia. In the 60's touring was done to promote records and often lost money. After appearing at Woodstock and Isle of Wight the Who were one of the first bands to start doing stadium tours that made money (once they stopped smashing gear and hotels).
