  1. Very upset by this: I was saving to buy either the short scale walnut or cocobolo series I they had and had been in touch with a very nice sales rep there; went online to check which had been sold only to see pretty much all they had was gone. I can’t imagine the shock the staff are going through, and hope this wasn’t an inside job. I figured a very wealthy muso’d bought them all, but for some reason my gut told me to search “alembic basses stolen from Station Music” because of the number of basses missing from the stock, and this horrible news comes up. Yes, bastards who stole them; really wonder how they plan to fence them, and hope they are caught with alacrity; each Alembic being unique, we know they’re all irreplaceable. Damn them.
  2. Hiya: Mad Yank trying to revive the thread, sirs! Lol I am saving and willing to wait as long as I may need to try to get an Alembic: saw two I absolutely love online at Station Music and Jazzy put one up in the Alembic Club Forum and that solidified it more in my head to make the move. I played one Clarke Signature last Christmas hols and that put me on the quest, and the Alembic HP pics threw me for a loop! Would love to hear if anyone has had new adventures and outlooks in 2022 with their ‘Lembic!
  3. Yep, the person I spoke to there, Will, was fantastic: I enjoyed talking to him.
  4. Good day, everyone! THIS, COMMENT, INDEED! I tried my first Alembic last December: a rare custom SC here in Osaka that sadly sold whilst I hemmed and hawed…I am sold on Alembic. The sounds, the fine tuning…the FIRST TIME I WASN’T STRUGGLING TO PLAY WITH A PICK nor “chase the G!” I was doing Steve Harris three-finger runs for the first time! must be the 17 mm spacing? i am furiously saving and planning to get one very soon: no I am nowhere near worthy of one if I spend too long pondering it, but we live once, no? Lol Foderas are great: I had a Yin Yang Standard and it was beautiful; I cannot fault it, because the craftspersonship is outstanding. EMGs, man…EMGs….
  5. Hello what pick up is on it? Thank you. Jeff Smith
  6. Mastodon, your comments are fantastic. As a native New Yorker I have no problem with Ken or Jeff’s acerbic comments; people who criticize them fail to recognize our culture: two guys who are BENDING OVER BACKWARDS TO HELP WHILE COMPLAINING. This is what we NYCers do, the nice ones at least. I will sing the praises of Ken Smith, Fodera, and Pedulla basses til I cark it because they responded to my mails lightning-fast, even though I hadn’t made a purchase yet! Ken’s mails aren’t flowery; he got to the point, told me what the basses I was looking for were, end of mail. That was fine with me, and I appreciated his time answering each and every mail I sent over two months. I bought a White Tiger after I failed in trying to buy that beauty Sir Ped copped: gorgeous. The WT 4 I got is the best playing bass (for ME) that I have next to a Pedulla Buzz (I sold one I had purchased used and that was a horrible mistake). The quality of all the top makers’ basses are unquestioned, but Ken’s bass has the feel, sound, and look that works for me. Congrats to all of you and thank ypu for sharing!
  7. Does anyone have a Black Tiger 4-string they would consider selling? Neck through preferred; newer the better. A Yank expat in Osaka Japan thank you kindly: happy holidays!
