It does sound a bit that way but I can't decide if it's just the chordal stuff he's playing that makes it sound that way, although the single note stuff has a certain 'shimmer'.

Yeah it’s definitely shimmery all the way through the studio section, regardless of his playing technique. Could be some phasing caused by the camera mic and direct bass input both being left active for that portion of the video in the edit.

Oh well…at least the first half of the video was useful

I've just watched a fantastic demo of the Jack Casady bass.

It shows all the tones available really well and it sounds fabulous.

    🙂👍

Is it me or does it sound like he’s switched on a chorus pedal for all of the studio recorded part of the video? First half sounded fine…:S

I’d happily pay it, I’m just a bit peed of you have to pay £30 extra for the case to keep it in. Around the house it probably wouldn’t matter but I travel a lot and don’t want to stuff it in a suitcase at the price it cost

    +1.

I’ll definitely be getting a Waza Air at some point, but it feels like a kick in the teeth to have to pay an extra £30 for a travel case which should have been included in the initial ~£400 purchase!

Damn that sounds good. I also like the bass laying suggestively in the background...

    Ha! Thank you sir.

The bass suggestively presenting itself in the background is almost identical to the one I’m playing, just with different wiring (Vol-Vol-Tone plus frequency switches for mids and highs, and series mode push/pull on the second volume - whereas the one I’m playing is Vol-Blend-Tone without any fancy switching) and I’m playing flats on the gold one but the Background Burgundy Beauty is strung with steel rounds.

Edit: and of course I’m playing on the neck pickup!

Dunno if this is the right place but I'm looking for a wireless system for my bass, I'm currently using Smoothhound kits ( I have 2) and finding them a tad unreliable.

When they work they are very good but I'm plagued with crackly connections and if I move anything when plugged in I get disconnects and bangs so is there anything better and more robust out there?

    Looking for recommendations...

    A couple of questions…

Will the wireless system just be for casual home use or will it be for gigging etc?

    What’s your budget?

  6. That’s what I’m thinking re: ease of analogue synth workflow vs wavetable workflow. The iOS editor looks fantastic too. Was debating getting the module version but given how good the Modal keybeds are that might be a missed opportunity. Could always use the Cobalt keys to trigger other synths.

Love the look of the D-Roc, especially the sparkly "Aqua" one above.

Seems a bit weird that the pickup switch doesn't have the options for the two outer pickups together.

The switch they use in Combustions/NG3s have the option for neck and bridge pups together, but this sacrifices the middle pup solo option. Both versions of the switch can be purchased separately at Bass Direct so it’s simple enough to go for the one you prefer.

I quite like the options the D-Roc switch gives, personally. I’ve had to resist the urge to order one now that the 5ers are available! Pretty convinced I’ll own one at some point.

Just about my favourite p bass ever made. The Dingwall Super P is a killer bass.

+1 to this. I’ve owned three Dingwall Super Ps and each one has been beyond phenomenal. Had to sell two of them a year ago due to COVID but I’d buy them both back in a heartbeat if I could!

    GLWTS sir.

  9. Haven’t got one yet despite it being over a year since I first saw them! But I’m still considering one, mainly because it would double up nicely as both a very rugged case and a very rugged stand. I need to get some measurements on the width of the Enki and the width of the gap it would hypothetically slot into in my bedroom studio before I make a decision.

The alternative is a Gruv Gear Kapsule (possibly a Duo version) which wouldn’t serve as a stand at all but the storage space could be a godsend with how frequently I’m on tour - I might be able to replace a suitcase + single bass case with a Kapsule Duo 🤔
