5. That name sounds correct. A French guy was the other piece of info I picked up. And you are correct. The show was superb!
  6. You could always get a 34" scale one with frets on it
  7. I am flogging mine to make way for a 6 string one. Full details here http://basschat.co.u...-a-bass-guitar/
  8. Price drop. Something has come up that I want. £1150 Audio demos in last post. Here is something you do not see very often. It is a 34" scale fretted EUB so it can do all sorts of things. I bought it because I really wanted to try a fretted EUB. It did what I hoped it would which is to give a relaxed DB angle right hand technique with the ease and punch of frets. This is if it is vertical. If it is horizontal then it is pretty bass Guitar-esque. I am now going to commission a 40" scale 6 string one with a bottom F#. So this needs to go but I am in no desperate hurry to sell. It is a nice design and it just works, as all NS instruments I have ever picked up do. I have copied and pasted the spec below because, well, why rewrite something which is already better than what I would write? It is as new, but for safety's sake I will say it is in VVVVVGC. 34" Scale: The 34" scale length of the Omni Bass is the same as standard electric bass, and is available in 4 and 5 string versions, fretted or fretless. Tuned in fourths (EADGC or BEADG), the fingering positions and spacing are identical to the bass guitar, and therefore immediately familiar to any bass player. The Omni Bass can also be tuned in fifths, for fingerings that are more natural for the cellist seeking enhanced bass range. Fingerboard: The fretted Omni Bass features a highly arched fingerboard, similar to a cello, to optimize bow articulation. Fretted models have conventional bass guitar dot pattern. Polar Pickup System: The multiple sensor NS Polar bridge pickup system has two modes of operation: "arco" and "pizzicato". This allows the player to optimize bowed response, and to control attack and decay characteristics for plucking. The deep bass and brilliant highs possible with piezo crystal technology give the instrument a beautiful, dynamic, and versatile sound. EMG™ Magnetic Pickups: Custom designed EMG low impedance magnetic pickups have a smooth response with lots of sweet midrange for the quintessential "electric" tone. Their relatively flat frequency response allows the natural sound of the instrument to project through. Each pickup is individually adjustable and internally shielded an internal preamp system for hum free performance. Active Controls: Two balance controls allow unlimited mixing options for the magnetic and the dual mode Polar Pickup systems. On-board pre-amplification provides master volume, bass and treble controls. The 18 volt power supply insures plenty of headroom for full dynamics. Polar Pickup systems. On-board pre-amplification provides master volume, bass and treble controls. The 18 volt power supply insures plenty of headroom for full dynamics. For even greater control, players can adjust the truss rod to tailor the neck relief to their particular needs. The result is a remarkably comfortable, even feel for every style of performance, and bass guitarists will find the Omni Bass even more inviting than ever as their "cross-over" instrument. Traditional upright players will also find the TransRadius design quite comfortable since many upright basses are designed with some degree of compound fingerboard curvature. Interchangeable Support Systems: The Boomerang™ Strap System is standard with the CR Omni Bass. Two articulated arms and a pivoting hub allow full mobility on stage or in studio. The comfortable Boomerang strap fits over the shoulder just like a guitar, but the adjustable arms allow the instrument to be placed in virtually any position in relation to the hands and body. The Boomerang Strap System allows full mobility for either bowing or plucking.
  9. The foot controller will let you control various paramaters such as open and closing filters. http://www.eowave.com/instruments.php?prod=52
  10. Look for an Apogee Gio and slap an expression pedal into it. Good times.
  11.
The UI IS clunky and complicated but given the range of effects achievable, it's worth the effort.
There is no denying that it makes top quality noises!
  12.
Conversely, the Octavius Squeezer also showed us that complicated does not mean a better user experience.
Word. I loved it until I had to move past the presets. Then I sold it.
  13. If your bod is happy to program all the squelchiness then that is one step less. You have all the kit to do the rest. There will be at the very least a "small" amount of latency. Probably not enough to bother you. You adapt pretty quickly. I have often wondered why more people do not use the filters etc which are in all DAWs by now.
  14. Thanks everyone - it has given him plenty to think about
  15. It was not Sharay Reed however do not let that stop you going to the show. It was AWESOME!
  16. It could be an impuls-compensated design. I have no idea and cannot speak for Mr Bergantino, but ACME have done something similar and people talk highly of it.

This sounds like an issue a DB bash would help with. Lots of basses with different set ups. The last one was fun. Shall we?

I have messed with action using adjusters. What did it for me was that with a super low action the bass just did not respond in the way I wanted. It was not a volume issue it was a "voice" issue for the instrument.
  19. Looks interesting. http://bergantino.com/product/hg310-loudspeaker/ Product Description HG310 ‘Holo-Graphic’ 3-10″ & Tweeter Acoustic Instrument Loudspeaker The Bergantino Audio Systems ‘Holo-Graphic’ HG series of lightweight speaker cabinets break the barrier of 2-dimensional sound. Three woofers are mated to a lightweight sealed cabinet with 2 facing forward and a third facing rearward. This speaker orientation generates a 3-dimensional soundstage that makes any acoustic or solid-body instrument come alive and project a superior depth of sound. The HG310 is the perfect speaker cabinet to reproduce all acoustic instruments including guitar, mandolin, upright bass, acoustic bass guitar, banjo and violin. It will also transform your solid-body violin, viola, cello or upright bass from a single point source into a 360-degree experience. When the HG310 is combined with the Bergantino B|Amp and dedicated profile, you get an excellent acoustic instrument speaker. B|AMP feature’s such as a variable high-pass filter, variable feedback filter and speaker phase reverse capability, combine to give you the ultimate amplification system for acoustic instruments. The precision tuned cabinet architecture and the enclosure is built with the finest lightweight Italian poplar plywood (with Baltic birch baffle board) selected to our specifications. This lightweight cabinet material (along with the lightweight magnet material) helps reduce the overall cabinet weight. A rigid black grille is added to protect the drivers from damage. Like all Bergantino Audio loudspeakers, the internal components used are extremely high quality and they are of Bergantino design. No ‘off-the-shelf’ parts are used. Woofers with Neodymium magnet material are used for the low frequency section of the HG series cabinets, resulting in a very clear sound, punchy low-end, sweet midrange and reduced weight. The HG series cabinets have a High Intelligibility Compression Driver w/ Constant Directivity Horn to ensure consistent coverage from the lowest to the highest frequencies. This horn is mated to the tri-woofer arrangement through a custom designed phase-coherent crossover with a tweeter control. The HG series cabinets are covered in durable vintage Bordeaux tolex, have mounted rubber feet and include a high-impact metal grill for durability and acoustical transparency.

Woofer: 3-10” Neodymium Magnet Woofers
Tweeter: High Intelligibility Compression Driver w/ Constant Directivity Horn
Cabinet Design: Sealed
Cabinet Material: Lightweight Italian Poplar w/ Birch Baffle
Cabinet Covering: Vintage Bordeaux Tolex
Impedance: 5.3-ohms
Power Handling: 600W RMS
Crossover: Custom Phase-Coherent Crossover w/ Tweeter Control
Frequency Response: 43hZ – 15KhZ
Sensitivity: 99db @ 2.83v / 1-meter
Dimensions: 22-3/4”H x 18-1/2”W x 12-1/2”D
Weight: 36 Lbs.
