  1. I was thinking the same. The band of red down the centreline will not be so stark with the hardware in place. It should give the effect of a red aura behind the strings. That's going to look cool.
  2. I have found this too. If you submit more than one point or question to a customer support team, it is often the case that only the first part of the query is answered... if you're lucky. Then the answer you get depends very much on the team's interpretation of what's been written. As with GPs these days; it's usually better to deal with one issue at a time. Still, you'd think that Hiram's two issues are related, ie; the sudden warping and the coincidental loss of thread contact with the adjuster.
  3. Limits aside, it's a good discussion - all points of view being considered in the context of the whole. I especially like how Mr Honza has now side-stepped it all by modifying the body shape of his bass to suit the pick guard he likes best. Class.
  4. Of course. You're well ahead of any advice that I can give you.
  5. Is that ink stain?
  6. Are you veneering the fingerboard?
  7. I suppose it's closure of a sort. They were aware of the way this happened overnight in a room in a house that (I assume) is well insulated and heat is regulated by thermostat? Also the freely spinning truss rod nut?
  8. It's a bit hard to tell against the multi-coloured background but I think that works better than the spiky one you drew earlier. Then I realise that I am looking at the beginnings of a guitar... Heeheehee
  9. That's a stunner! I can't wait for the results of the BC Rorschach test.
  10. Me from the cheap seats at Derby Assembly Rooms: "PLAY HARD TIMES OF OLD ENGLAND!" Steeleye Span's drummer immediately came back with: "LIVING IT MATE!"
  11. It's one way to remove calcium build up from the plumbing I suppose...
  12. I'd suggest you concentrate on preserving the fretboard profile and finish as far as possible. Filling the slots is the objective. Someone who has done this before will doubtless answer this question better than I could. Paging @Andyjr1515 for advice...
  13. That is indeed worthy of a topic all by itself. You can see why many build their own.
  14. It only looks that way. The mosh pit is in the car park.
  15. I think you might mean 10 inches and not 10 degrees. Perfection is subjective. What, apart from wanting a fretless instrument, would you like to change?
  16. Fender have already made the sale and by dragging their ar5e over after care they've left an opportunity for Status to profit. Ho hum.
  17. So "booty" as in pirate's reward. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I've never fully understood the word the way Americans use it. As has been noted above, you've got a unique writing style. It would be fun to meet and chat for real. I've not said before but great playing! It is a shame more people don't get to hear it in real life but I understand you have issues that prevent it happening. Nice touch that. Putting the BC logo on one of your clips. Laters.
  18. What are your feelings regarding asymmetric neck profiles?
  19. I just like big bottoms. I can not lie.
  20. Great idea. I'm still laughing at "booty". You do mean bottom end don't you?
  21. Fair enough but you did make it sound like a challenge. It really isn't. Our friend Honza has drawn a line between ownership of wood working tools and metalwork tools, that's all. Your suggestion is not a bad one. It's just that the words "all that" in your phrase "all that metalwork" might be misleading to readers.
  22. Huh? It's not that much, really.
  23. I agree. Much better to leave it. If you remove one of the blocks there is little chance of the supplier sending you a good match for the ones that are left anyway. You might as well remove all of them and replace with a properly matched set. Ibanez put oval abalone dots on my fretboard and one of them is similarly at odds with the rest. They are a lot smaller than yours but I still had to get used to it. I now think of it as a unique characteristic and - isn't that why we use organic materials anyway? To have something that is taken from nature because it can't be uniform and manufactured? Like your infill, it is likely that you are the only one who will be aware of the difference once the instrument is strung. The instrument as a whole isn't going to suffer, IMHO.
