IME I wouldn't trust the Build Quality of a new Ampeg either. -
Also have a look at the Markbass TSA500 which allows you to blend a clean SS preamp with the tube preamp in the TA503. Though in my experience always try and test out any amp your thinking of buying. Good Luck!

Another problem with this combo is the fact that you cannot plug in an external cabinet.
