  1. *sigh* an innocent post about an enjoyable show and a nice sounding bass is all getting rather irksome and tedious, so I will modify and only apply what one can definitively see. The player was playing rather nice sounding and looking basses made by Sandberg. A fretted TM4 and a Fretless TM5 The player seems to play them rather well sounding good on his own and in time with his band mates. Someone else mentioned he was highly talented. i can guarantee put me on that bass, it would no where near sound as good. Those are the constants in the chain and have to be before any DI or deskage wizardry. All the rest is willy waving
  2. @BigRedX no doubt you have some valid points, however you can’t possibly tell me that the Tone he has was complete and utter codswallop and then the engineers sprinkled a whole bucket load of fairy dust to make it sound good. Chances are they had a very good starting point, mid point, end point wherever he or she took the signal from
  3. O think the sound guys for BBC had maybe just come back from ibiza and were in the sub bass type mixing mode from the club sets etc. Hence the more bass type mix, and of course there are more synth type songs in her set up. Be interesting to hear how it changes in her tour
  4. Flare audio Titanium
  5. Agreed the B3K and VMT have not superceeded, they have been expanded in their various iterations, and then a completely different engine was released with a different sound to them. The SS has not been superceded, it had to be reinvented as he could not get the parts anymore, hence this. Remember anytime you are kicking in any form of distortion, you are already adding compression, and any amps with limiters on them (most do in some form whether it’s has a dedicated dial or not) are also hailing compression. Compression is all around you. The new pedal certainly is good, form soundbites I have heard which is not the same as playing with it, the SS sounds like it should, the BUS is really good, the 1176 put the box needs tweaking, but you may be able to get it sounding as good as a Cali. If it did that, definite winner having 3 different sounds to affect your signal.
  6. Creation Audio MK4.23 Looks beautiful, brilliant clean boost, completely transparent, one of the best on the market
  7. Afraid not young man, it’s a guy called Jamie Sefton, really talented guy. He has had the chair for Amy Macdonald. Used to be in One Eskimo, and they recently had a reform and played at the Bedford pub in London in the London music week. At that gig he was playing bass and a flugal horn at the same time, one hand on each, that takes some doing.
  8. Should have seen this coming........ Yep, not everyone’s cuppa I gets that, but the bassist had a nice rig, well nice basses and was tight with a great sound, that’s the main purpose. But even if you do like Kylie, I am happy for you to confide in me......
  9. Prob on iPlayer for anyone else if they want. Like or loathe the genre, gotta respect Kylie
  10. The bassist for Kylie is killing it with playing nd tone tonight, if you are not watching live, worth watching her set. Sandberg basses, a 4 string aged orange TM, a Fretless Tobacco TM 5 string. @alexclaber should be proud as he is using a Supertwin and @Darkglass should also be proud as he is using the M900. Rich fat tone for days, love them Sandberg’s
  11. Thanks again i do have a counter sink I have found just now just need to check my other drill bits. Really appreciate people taking the time to help
  12. @HazBeen thanks so much, i’ll drill that 4.5mm hole then get a 5mm to just widen the lacquer part of I get you correctly so to stop the threads fracturing the graphite
  13. You guys probably all know this but a Fisch Forstner Wave Drill bit was an absolute revelation for a ferrule hole
  14. I am getting quite excited now, very close to doing this part having slowly amassed the various bits!
  15. Thanks buddy I have the instructions sent so that’s all good, i’ll Compare incase they are different versions The Drill speed was the other key thing, currently I have it set fast for wood, I was thinking I needed the slower one, so I can change the belt. I take it a wood drill bit is best also
  16. Thanks for your input, and I get where you are coming from. I suppose that if the ‘standard’ hole went wrong I could move to a threaded insert as that would require a larger calibre bore anyway? if I have that right
  17. Just to complete the picture it’s Seymour Duncan APB-1 pick ups
  18. Cheers mate. I looked into a lot of things and the Moses Graphite necks recommend inserts, but I don’t think Status do, certainly they do not say anything in their instructions, and also I think there may be a block of wood behind the Graphite shell. I suppose the safest would be smallest hole first (after marking it) and see what the screw does.
  19. Morning guys. Doing my first bitsa P bass and I have a blank Status neck ready to drill. I do have a Pillar Drill for the job. Quick question for any that can help out there. The USA body had pre-drilled Holes 5mm, and the screws I have glide through, which I am happy with. Doing a test hole on a piece of wood the screws bite with a 4mm hole Just about to match the holes and drill the graphite neck heel. Do I Drill the hole at 4mm so it bites when screwing (having slightly chamfered the entry point not to split the lacquer) or does the Graphite behave differently and you use a slightly bigger hole? This will be the finished as ever, no pics no bass cheers!!
  20. @discreet I feel for you buddy, and budgets are private, but you can with your eyes peeled get a right good bargain on them in the 2nd hand market. Mine were both under half price of what they were new and only a few years old. Seen Electra’s in the 300’s and I have seen full Sandbergs with ageing even dip into the 600s in great condition. Less time breaking into @ead‘s practice room, more time on paper rounds and a massive penny jar
  21. @ead I think they are different again from the black label pick ups, specifically for the tone capsule to complement its EQ, if I find any more out, i’ll let y’all know Of course that Grand Dark is also 35”, is pau ferro - it’s really well thought out, a mate has one, initial impressions are it’s sitting alongside one of his masterpieces and his Umbo
  22. My double ball Status strings for my Hohner are right good. If there quality transcends the range they will be just fine IMO
  23. That configurator kills me every time. I did not dig them before but the TM is really growing on me, massively fast. The new Grand Dark actually makes a heap of sense, the Darkglass tone capsule is pretty good, and they have specially wound pick ups for this bass. Throw in Masterpiece ageing on it.......it would slay
  24. You won’t go wrong Join the family
  25. Aye, great to hear. You will not hear a bad word about a Sandy from me, they are just amazing. The basses I have are extremely polite and never tell me how clunky my playing is, and somehow make me sound better than I am. legend company
