1. +1 Krist is awesome, his basslines just work. OP, I recommend you watch Nirvana at Reading 1992 and then post again
  2.
This. I found the issue was that you can't seem to get a drill bit that is the right size for them! Not from the local DIY shop anyway...
A 99p flat wood bit from eBay does the trick
  3.
I'd just refer the entire thread back to this. Over and over again. It, perhaps, is self-perpetuating - but it allows people to play gigs. We're not all career musos, some of us just play for fun and don't count the change; it's horses for courses. If it doesn't work for you, don't do it; if it does, fill your boots.
But it works both ways. If a band sells the tickets and performs, the promoter should be expected to keep up their end of the deal - actually promote the gig, and provide that backline they always promise but never quite manage to sort out
  4. Hey Wayne I think you've found a new best friend in that Kurt Shaefer guy
  5.
It's weird that you should say that. My band was in last year's festival, and never had to pay a penny. We were given however many tickets we wanted, and we only ever had to give them money for the tickets that were sold. And in all honesty, we sold sod all and just had people buy their tickets on the door instead, so they didn't make very much from us. Made it through to the semi-finals too (lost out on the regional finals by one point). We recently dealt with JAR music - absolutely horrendous. Giving money for tickets sold I've always seen as fair cop to be honest, but they demanded money for unsold tickets out of an allocation they kept giving and giving to us. Their organsation was terrible, providing us with a huge list of gear that would be available for us to use on the night to make things easier (mainly drums and related items) so our drummer travelled to the gig light - when we got there, none of what they advertised was there! Their sound engineer was absolutely terrible too. They also did zero promotion for it. Never again!
Your experience with JAR is very similar to what we had with Surface. Indeed never again!
  6.
Only 370 watts less than my Marshall VBA, but someone might want one
370kg lighter too
  7. The Surface Unsigned Festival is one gigantic pay-to-play con. Guess which bands get voted through to the next round at the end of the night? The ones who sold the most tickets
  8.
well, no they don't - the more emissions, the more damage they are causing. The great advantage of fuel tax is that it makes the biggest polluters pay the most.
Well apart from the environmental damage of sourcing materials for producing these so-called "eco-cars", but's that a different thread altogether edit: Also, they cause an equal amount of damage to the roads themselves hence they should at least pay some tax for the upkeep.
  9. I was thinking about this today as my renewal reminder fell through the door. £250 for 12 months, and that cost is set on the cars CO2 emissions regardless of how many miles I cover For private vehicles an odometer readout should be taken at the cars MOT and the road tax calculated from miles driven and emissions. Fair system for everyone
  10.
Ever looked inside one...? Makes it not so easy!
If they can clone a sheep this should be a doddle
  11. Five 'undred euro?! You won't see penny one from me you slag! Buy one, clone 10 and make your money back?
  12. Mine is a 1996, and IMO plays better than the "modern" ones too
  13. Guy sounds like a knob, turn it up even more next time

  16.
I tend to clamp the neck into the pocket it's going into, then mark through the holes in the body with a screw, or a thin pencil, or once, orange paint on a thin brush. then remove it and pillar drill the buggers to the right depth. (Though not as wide as the screws you are using, or they won't bite, but you knew that didn't you?)
This ^ A piece of tape marking the desired depth on the drill bit will ensure you don't end up drilling through the fretboard
  17.
Im not sure ive seen a silver ABM300. I know they do a 500watt rack mount version. Could it be a MAG?
If it's silver I'm thinking MAG too... In which case, £200 is a bit steep
  18. The second one doesn't look too good though

    DIY Effects

New fuzz pedal finally completed today. Bit of an experiment with a different type of case wrapped in black vinyl and battery box. GONE.

Any chance of posting it, if I cover the cost? Shouldn't be too much if the neck is taken off.
