1. Bump and price drop to £500 this is as low as i am prepared to sell the bass for!
2. I'm pretty interested in getting one of these pedals whats the difference between the mosfet version and the non-mosfet sound wise?
3. Little price reductions made....
4. Bump! - i'll be going up to york again on sunday, and can take the bass with me if there happens to be any intrest from anyone near or around there...
5. I've made a few clips to give the idea of the sound of this bass with optima golds. I appologies for any mistakes/timing issues these where mostly 1 take clips to give an idea on the sound with no click track. 1 = Both Pickups 2 = Neck Pickup 3 = Bridge Pickup I'll try and get some clips with the nordstrand NP4 pickups in done tomorrow.
6. That said the micro synth doesn't have any issues tracking as it manipulates the bass signal instead of tracking it and reproducing the wave form iirc.....might be wrong but i think this was one of the reasons why i didn't go for it in the end.
7. Pics now up - sorry about the quality light was fading i'll redo them tomorrow - but gives you an idea.
8. Bumpity bump.... You could have these pickups fitted in a warwick buzzard BO if you wanted - check out my other threadhere for more infomation...
9. Sorry about the huge wait for pics - needed to borrow a camera - i'm just going round a mates to pick up the camera now so should have them up within the next hour or two. Also i thought i'd offer the option of having the bass come with nordstrand NP4's as well as the MEC's. I can do this for an extra £100 (normally would cost £210 for the pickups!). - I can put either in the bass for you - just to tempt anyone else. I've got the nordys up for sale individually here Anyway pics will be up asap.
10. I've not tried the mirco synth so can't comment only read mixed reviews and sound clips and to me it sounded very analogue and just like an overly distorted bass - and wasn't as synth like as i wanted. I've no idea how it'll far through a big muff but in my mind it sounds like everything will be garbled and hugely distorted.. When i was looking into synth pedals i was going for the pure synth tones and wanted something a little more versitile using muse tones as inspiration i was looked into an akai deep impact (this was before they got to silly prices and were about £200 ish). But the tracking issues and reliability problems stopped me from getting one. In the end i got a Korg G5 bass synth which to me did exactly what i wanted. Tracks amazingly well super reliable and sounds similar enough to the deep impact (if not better in some cases imo) Huge amount of sounds, can save 9 custom presents, double up on waveform sounds 3 banks of 3 - which for live stuff allowed my to organize me tones so i could switch between a couple at a time in a song. Add some delay and you got a huge synthy keyboard sound - on its own i can almost nail the hysteria sound i'm sure adding a big muff will just take it the one step closer to perfecting it. There is also new mark bass synth also looks like it could be something special but i've yet yo try it - but it should be worth a look at! - from the comments i;ve heard from people its a very good synth pedal. All the projects where i was using my Korg G5 have pretty much stopped so i've got mine up for sale for £200 - I can get some clips up of the Korg G5 for you if you want, but my advice would be to really hunt around youtube and try and find clips of all the pedals as they all are different and appeal to different people. If you can find some to try that would be even more ideal and really give you a sense of what you want.
11. Spent a day in bass direct 2 weeks ago and tried out an ABZ - while for me the fanned fret thing didn't work (2 breaks in my left arm + plates and 2 operations mean the wrist rotation needed for hitting the 1st few frets was a little beyond me) they are very well build basses. Very nice jazz bass type sound as well (to my ears), but i'm very much a pbass style guy and the sound for me was just a little to delicate - although very even and beautifully precise. Definitely worth a try.
12. I recently purchased a G&L SB2 bass and over the past 2 weeks its quickly become my main goto bass. So much so that everything i was using this buzzard for i can now do with the SB-2 and do it better! I'd like to down size and while i really love the bass i can't see it getting much play time now so thought i'd pass it on to someone who'd appreciate it and play it! I did experiment with some nordstrand pickups in the bass but i've put the orignal MEC pickups back in it now. The bass required exra shielding with the passive nordstrand pickups and i shielded the pickup cavity with copper tape which i've left on the bass as its doing no harm (i can remove it at buyers request and clean it all up) I also have replaced the JAN II as when i got the bass it was missing the slide flaps so it is now fully functional with no issues. The bass currently has a set of optima gold strings on it. Ands comes with the warwick user kit, gig bag and strap locks. [s]Looking for around £700 for this but i'm open to offers however no trades. Due to the length of the bass shipping is going to be very impractical so this is collection only.[/s] Looking for £600 firm now. Collection is preferred and advised due to the length of the bass but i can arrange courier at buyers cost. I'm located currently near cambridge but am going to and from york every few weeks - so could do drop offs on the way or offer collection from either york or cambridge. Pics Found Here: http://picasaweb.google.com/squirrelguru/B...feat=directlink Cheers,
13. mmmmmm maybe a price drop to £575 - i'm open to considering offers on this as well.
14. I've got [s]2[/s] 1 Nordstrand NP4 Pickups for sale. I had them in my buzzard BO due to the pretty poor wiring in my house i had to do a shielding job and have shielded the pickup covers with copper tape. I'm restoring the buzzard back to all original pickups and am most likely going to sell it on in the future but in the mean time i have no use for these pickups. Probably the best pickups on the market and the nicest P pickups imo. They seem to just suck all the good tone from your bass and leave behind none of the bad! Unfortunately i've not got the box they come in but i have the screws. [s]Selling for £110 new from bass direct i'm Looking for [s]£75 each or £140 £60 each or £100 for the pair[/s] £55 for the last pickup includes shipping anywhere in the UK[/s] BOTH PICKUPS NOW SOLD PENDING USUAL Cheers,
15. I'm having a little clear out of pedals i no longer use as i'm trying to cut down on the amount of gear i have just lying about. Korg G5 Synth Pedal - SOLD shipped anywhere in the UK - This comes with adapter and box - possibly i have the manual but i can't for the life of me remember (i'll have a hunt around for it and update) Fully functional it has been on my pedal board and i've gigged it a few times but its sat relatively untouched for the past year or so as i've had no use for it in any of my projects. Sounds really great add in some delay and it is fantastic and tracks brilliantly. Maxon AF-9 autowah pedal £90 shipped anywhere in the UK - Comes with box but no manual - although its easily downloaded off the net iirc Again this pedal has been gigged a few times, but sat untouched for the past year few dings hear and there but its in good nick. I'm happy to sort out pics on request. [s]Ideally looking for a straight sale on these however i would consider trades for a catalinbread SFT or possibly a Way Huge Pork loin but ideally the SFT.[/s] I've gone ahead and got a way huge pork loin so am looking for a straight sale on the Maxon AF-9. Cheers, EDIT:I'm on the look out for an octave pedal i like the sounds of the micro pog and the mxr, leaning towards the micro pog atm. Would consider trades for ones of these thanks!
16. The marks don't look too serious to me and i can't think of a reason why it would affect the tone.
17. Its a shame a visit to shuker is going to be a little too far out of my way. I've had a chance to play some precisions now. Boy am i gad i did! Turns out i really don't get on with the necks, most are far to wide for me - i'm use to 38mm of my warwicks and 44mm and even 41mm is just too uncomfortable for me to play So with that in mind and a precision like sound in my head i took a trip to bass direct and pretty much played everything in the shop! Huge mix of basses. After being in the shop for a good 5 hours i successfully killed any gas i might have had for a jazz bass - just not my tone its too delicate for me. I also wasn't hugely taken with precisions as well. However PJ basses is a completely different story! By the end of the day i had i narrowed down to a G&L SB 2 and a yamaha BB2024x. Both extremely nice basses and both sounding amazing and yet each was different. Although my heart was probably with the yamaha as it just had something about it, my head was with the G&L and at the end of the day out of everything i played the G&L SB-2 is the only bass that has ever ticked all my boxes and played the nicest and while not as wild as the yamaha BB2024x the sb2 was way more versitile and gave me the tones i wanted right out the box. Allround it felt more of a working mans bass where the yamaha BB2024x played more like a wild beast (sounded like one as well - very tight and thick with a lot of grunt and strength behind it). For me at my playing level a working mans bass that i can rely on to do the job in hand every time is exactly what i need. As for the maple FB - every bass i played with one ended up too clacky for me liking! turns out rosewood was the way forward for me after all, amazing what a good playing session and trying many different basses does for you! TL:DR - I'm now the proud owner of a G&L SB-2 in white with a tort pick guard (my favourite color) and am still finding sounds out of it that both myself and mark at bass direct never thought the bass was possible of doing with just Vol/Vol controls. A yamaha BB2024x is now on my 'If i ever have 2K+ spare and want another bass' list...
18. Afternoon bump. I've spotted a bass i want and so this is just a cash sale now. I'll also be making my way up to york on thursday(15th July) returning on the 24th or the 25th if there is any interest i can bring the bass with me or do a delivery on it.
19. Sunday evening bump. I'll be travelling from near cambridge to york on thursday - so there is the possibility that if there was any interest in this bass that i could drop it off on my way. I'm also on the hunt for a p bass so its possible that i might consider trades for one - only requirement is it has a maple FB.
