1. It works, it sounds good and its great way to bridge the gap between 4 and 5 strings. I also read somewhere that getting a left handed neck can help tighten up the B string so its more like a 35" scale but still playes like a 34", but this is a more drastic change that adjusting the nut.
 2. The thumb has an odd balance, its doesn't hang the way a conventional bass would. I found you need to work with it to get comfy + a good strap. But even saying that not everyone gets on with it. Streamer and dolphins have exceptional balance imo completely different from a thumb(its a very unique bass).
 3. I picked up a ex-display one a month back, not fully had a chance to test it fully but it has some really great sounds, especially from a multi-fx unit. Dunno if i'll ever get round to actually taking the time to sit down and actually use the it though as i have other effects units for synth and delay (akai head rush and korg G5) that do every i need really. So Steve i may have one up for grabs....
 4. Streetlight manifesto's - somewhere in the between album or catch 22's on and on and on. Although i recently got into the human abstract and noctrune album really gets me pumped.
 5.
I think in my 4 years there it didn't rain once, must've been very lucky!! Will go check out the BoB videos - nice one for getting to the final! I only entered in my 2nd 3rd and 4th years - semi final, runner up, third place. When we were runner up we lost on a technicality of the whole band being the main people on the BoB committee so it would've looked mighty odd had we won... Is it still held in Langwith or have they sorted somewhere better for it?
Yeh we were very unlucky with woodstock. They held the heats in goodricke hall then the final in vanbrough. So much better venues than langwith imo. Due to a few issues we kinda pissed off bandsoc quite a bit, but URY really liked us, besides the huge amount of swearing from the lead singer. I know what you mean about the band soc committee stuff many people are really suspicious of the whole thing!
 6. I use electroplankton and jam sessions in this experimental, electro band i'm in. you can get some really cool sounds from them. The best sound you get are when your just messing about, we've had some great laughs preforming with just ds for some songs. also that Tenori-On looks really cool might need to look into that more.
 7. The gain needs to be set so the signal is just below clipping level. If the amp starts to clip for prolonged periods this can severely damage to amp and cab. Most amps have a level indicator so you can set the gain to just below clipping. This gives the best signal to noise ratio afaik. Hope this helps.
 8.
I would think about getting a pair of 4ohm 2x10's then.
I'm leaning more to a pair of 12's atm. A pair of 2x10's was the plan originally but i've been really liking the 1x12's i've tried.
 9.
Welcome EvilSmile. WT800 - is that the one with stupid outputs - 2x4ohm or 1x8ohm?
yeh 2x4ohms bridged into 1x8ohms. Kinda silly but i love the tone it pushed out!
Hi Callum! I did Electronics with Muc Tech at York, loved the mus tech but not the electronics!! Cracking place, have you got involved with all the BandSoc stuff? Does Woodstock still happen?!!
Yep woodstock still happens, got rained on this year though. Took part in the battle of the bands though got to the final, which i heard was rare for a first year band. Theres some vids on the ystv website, the band is girl of prey...the vid kinda explains why we didn't get any place (lead singer likes to rant is all i'm saying!).
