1.
all I meant is that if you disagree with the price, its normally better to pm him instead of making him out to be a dick to everyone on the forum. Who knows, maybe he has been misguided by someone as to the price people would pay here, but is a perfectly nice guy in real life? We'll never find out now as he's no longer on the forum and will never return, plus will now tell people of his bad experience if asked about basschat.
You are right Josh. Ive noticed a recent rash of newbies asking the earth for basses just because we are a bass forum ( even folk asking higher than new prices) and this particularly blatent example of hiking up the price got up my nose. But I may have made one bad assumption here. Ooops :) ........Box of king size elastoplasts and a bucket of diplomacy at the ready for next time.

  2. Hmmm :) . This is a bass community not just another free classifieds, and pulling this sort of trick doesn't go down well. If you're a bass player or enthusiast, please introduce yourself, contribute to the forum, and welcome. If youre not, then you may get a better response from Loot. Theres a section on this site in Marketplace for Ebay links and IMHO this needs to go there.

  3. Is this the same bass as on Ebay with a Buy it Now price of £1050 ? Ebay link. Why the premium for Basschat members ? :)

  4.
Anyone interested in a swap? Slightly unusual request, in that due to my poor eyesight, I have become pretty much dependent upon neck leds for playing on dark stages, so I am looking to exchange my 2004 SKJOLD EXOTIC CUSTOM for a similar quality bass with the all important missing leds!

I really dont like the idea of fitting leds to this bass, as its absolutely beautiful, unmarked and I guess too good to be bashed about at the kind of gigs we do. I usually gig with my ACG or Sei, which have leds of course, or sometimes use my Lakland Joe Osborne, again lit up. Its such a shame to leave a brilliant bass on a rack when someone should be using it.

Is there anyone out there who might be interested in a swap? It would have to be an interesting bass, in mint condition as this one is, perhaps a newer Status/Sei or whathaveyou. Just looking for a change I suppose!

Its a model that was made by Pete as a show demo piece, wth spalted beech top, 7 piece neck, gorgeous Bocote fingerboard, 35" scale (but the bridge is set way down so you dont even notice the length). EMGs are fitted, with recessed straplocks, absolute top quality fittings, and even the back is bookmatched beech.

Its a long shot, but any interest out there? New, this bass would be something over £2,500.

    Added 27th December:

As the swap idea was a long shot, I will now sell for £1,250.

3rd January: PRICE REDUCED TO £1,100!

Could you tell us why your bass is worth the extra £1000 ? No offence meant, just like to know what's different (apart form the obvious) about your celinder.

    Thanks
No answer ? I guess the Q Im asking Rene is it a non-standard or a custom bass, or does it have enhanced features that justifies the price ? If not your cash price might be bit much for us cash- strapped UK bassists in the current market. I am no expert on Celinder pricing but see bass exchange site music review sitefor comparisons.

I guess you'll get a good trade though. Wish I had something to swop for it !

    Good luck with the trade/sale

    Cheers

  7.
i think pics would be fairly vital for this sale ;)
+1.

After EBall took over they used up the pre EB parts over several years. I guess to me it's not really a hybrid ( which to me suggests mixed parts from different instruments) its really an early EB stingray. It probably wont have some of the features ( eg through body stringing, epoxy preamp) of the more desirable pre 1980s preEB basses. However this doesnt mean its not a good bass. I've seen half a dozen basses from this period and although they varied in build quality, many were very powerful and well made instruments. The early 2 EQ helps IMHO. Some were a bit heavy , so an indication of the weight would be useful and pleeeeeese can we have some pics !

Good look with the sale !

    best wishes

    Colin

  8.
Built like Sharon Davis Circa 79 ... ! D
...so did you have a price in mind or are you hoping the forum will generate one for you ?

Best come out with it straight if you are, and Im sure we'll try to help you.

  9. Friendly, honest, straightforward and a real nice guy too. On time despite coming halfway aceross England via the M25 ! We did quite a complex deal very easily, and then had a great time exchanging experiences. Top class man, I cant recommend him too highly.
    Many thanks !

  10.
Ok, so just a feeler right now. If there is interest I will post pictures (I haven't yet as my Mac is crazy slow - it's unnecessary for as long as there is no firm interest!). The bass is all original and in really good condition. Of course there is some buckle rash but that is, of course, to be expected. PM me.

    X
Whats with the name --- and X then ?

You definitely need to post pictures ... there are many Rickenfakers about ... and perhaps if you unmask your MI6 indentity...... :)

What sort of P bass are you considering ? Era ? Condition ? Fingerboard ? Colour ?

  11. Although the pics arent good, it does seem a bit of weird colour - the white is a bit bright for a bass from the 1970s. The tortie scratch plate is not normal issue for a late 70's P bass either.

Gareth, it doesnt look wholly original, so it would help if you could give people some history, oh and it is pricey. Check recent ebay completed sales to get a more realistic guide price.

Tell us about you, and contribute to the forum as well mate, if you can. Sales are better received that way.

    Best wishes

  12.
Excellent basses these; I had an '82 model myself a while back and the quality was as good as any 'Fender' I've played..

    Good luck with the sale!
If mine was a typical example, these are fantastic !

It had the real feel of a preCBS precision - I actually managed to A/B it against a couple of '63 precisions once and it was comparable in playability and not far off in tone albeit a bit more modern. Same comfortable rounded bevel on the fingerboard, same slackness of string, same breadth of fingerboard. A joy to play. The JV is one of the best modern fenders Ive ever used. Price is a bit high perhaps but I dont know the market nowadays. Some people are put off by Squire on the headstock, but forget this and the potential 'collectability', these are very musical and high quality instruments for the price.

Good luck with the sale !

  13.
not sure iv ever heard a passive wal before...how do they compare?
I had a fretless passive Pro II a long while ago and I remember it had a lovely rich, tonal sound.
Counting chickens before hatching ?......the committed buyer has now pulled out due to lack of funds ! :) Actually, he did have a genuine reason for doing so

So....this almost pristine amp is back up for grabs.

Bargain at £390 including postage for a cash sale.

  15.
There was a thread relating to this subject a few days ago - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=24351&hl=

Might be interested if you’re concerned?
Many thanks for letting me know. From the thread, it looks like everyone is as confused as me. The best theory is that someone could use your serial to legitimise a stolen amp of the same type. Bit like they do with car number plates, and some Lancashire farmer is prosecuted because his tractor has not paid the London congestion charge. I guess the moral is, never underestimate the ingenuity of thieves. Cheers again

  16.
Im not sure publicly posting a serial number is a good thing although i understand why people are now doing it.
Never thought it would be a problem, but thanks for the warning. I just photo'd the back of the amp

** Ive had a firm offer so item is sold....subject to the usual ** NO LONGER SEE BELOW

  17. Little Mark LMII amp in virtually new condition. Bought it from new about a year ago. It has been well looked after and only gigged lightly. In perfect working order and never any problems.

    500W and ridiculously light.

Im only selling because I have recently bought an LMK from Old Horse Murphy ( I needed the two channels).

    £390 including postage for cash

    SOLD

  18. Manson 8 string

Its not mine and I'm not on commission ! Just wanted to flag this one up for BC'ers.

Custom Mansons come up very rarely and I used to own this one.

This is a fabulous instrument, a custom build by Hugh Manson. Bloody spectacular with excellent tone and intonation. It's a plethora of exotic woods, put together in a very tasteful way, the top is tiger maple (although this doesnt show well in the photos) and the fingerboard is ebony. The whole thing is pure craftmanship and despite the woods the weight is OK.

One of finest 8 strings Ive ever encountered, and very slick to play.

PS The guy I sold it to was real nice guy too, and from the address I think it's him selling it now.
