1.
I guess you are wrong about the date of the pots : http://home.provide.net/~cfh/pots.html

CTS pots dates are 137 + two digits for year + two digits for week.
Sorry but it seems that your pots are from 1980.
It's because S9*** serials are not exact, and overlap into 1980. However, this is really of no consequence . The bass is clearly late 70s build through and through and to be honest it looks a real find. You just dont get them in this condition at this price. If you can take that bit of extra weight, this looks to be a humdinger of a vintage P.

    Good luck with the sale

  2. Bought a Jag bass which had to be posted from Scotland . Despite atrocious weather conditions, Andy timed the delivery to ensure it got here safely and swiftly. Bass was exactly as described, and was packed to death. Communication was excellent - he kept me informwed all the way through. A great guy who I hope I will have the pleasure of dealing with again.

  3.
well done Platypus and great comments beedster.

If this chap was honest why didnt he re-sale the bass in talkbass rather than jumping forum!!!!!!!!!!!! Its just a qucik buck to be made in this bass.

Fair play if you got away with it matey,,,but you were caught and THEN decided to keep it. HHmmmmm!
+1

Agreed. Without getting sentimental, it's actually contributions like this, where others are watching out for everyone else, that makes me comfortable to nbe an active member of this community. You can debate the morality but I for one would have felt totally gutted had I bought a bass for 700 more than it sold 3 days ago on another forum.

All power to you Platypus, Beedster and all. Big thanks

  4. Bought some hifi speakers from Chris. Exactly as described. In superb condition, as he described. Incredibly well packed and a really good guy to deal with.

Im a really happy bunny. :)

    Buy with confidence.

  5.
Mmmmm I'd love to pair it with my 104 front ported. Wrong time of year for me to be cab buying though. :)

Bump for some other lucky beggar.
Thankyou both for the bumps. :) Several enquiries but nothing firm yet. A bit more info. The dual ported is slightly heavier than the current single ported model and a quick trip to the bathroom scales confirms its just under 22.8kg (50lb). So bump (rather more slowly) for a bit more gravity.
Dimensions : For those who asked its L58xW48xH54cm, the same footprint as the eden 210XLT it replaced, but an inch higher and 18lbs lighter.
Im not big guy but I can lift it easily.

Its 8 ohm by the way

  6. Not a good experience. Offered me his Rickenbacker 4003 , shipped within the week, I accepted, Rang him next day, told me he'd text . He didnt text. On the third day of not replying to my texts, I rang him to be told it had been sold. Then put the phone down. Extremely disappointed. Kept me hanging on, and hadnt the courtesy to let me know he had already sold the bass :)

  7. This is one of the earlier, dual-ported 210 HF cabs. It's in almost perfect condition.

8 ohm and rated at 400W. Lightweight and a one-person carry.

Excellent clarity and plenty of bottom, breathes more easily and reproduces bass much better than their Traveller 210. In my opinion, this is one of the best cabs Markbass have made. I bought it new, and have perhaps used it 5 times for low power gigs. It can handle a pub gig on its own, although I always teamed it up with a 112. It's been stored inside the house, warm and dry and I'm only selling it because I just dont need the power capacity anymore. I do acoustic gigs and my GK microbass does fine..

I'm in Nottingham near J25 on the M1, and so pretty central for a pickup. May be also willing to drive a reasonable distance if needed. Shipping would be interesting !

Current web prices seem to be £646, so £400 (now its £350) seems a good price, especially as the current ones are now only single ported.
HAvent advertised it locally yet but it will be going for a bit more.

Oh dear ! .... ah ! but thats a precession bass so its probably not worth as much !

  9. I think the Blueburst looks very nice indeed. It seems to be a classy combination of striking finish, classic P bass, and age. It seems to give the bass an early 60s Burns look in my opinion

I also think the changes, although perhaps not desirable on the collector market, might well indicate that it's a good instrument. It plainly hasnt been sat under the bed because it's too heavy/ a bit of a dog/ doesnt cut it in a band. Good instruments get used, and it may be that only for a bass with good playability, would previous owners have gone to the effort and expense of adding these cosmetic changes, in my opinion.

I also have a 76 P. It's been stripped, had a tortie replacement, rewired, had the hell knocked out of it at some time and probably replacement knobs. It is set up beautifully, as only a professional would have done, and there is strong evidence that it came out of London having done the rounds on the session/theatre circuit . However, it's the most easy playing , well balanced, sweetest classic P Ive played. It's the one I always go back to, even though I have tried many different and more expensive basses.

My message is to go and try these instruments, you'd be surprised how good they can be.

Just my take on things :)

  10. I bought some PJ gear from Tim recently. He allowed me plenty of time to try it out, and they were straightforward, completely hassle-free transactions in both cases.

Tim is a gent and an absolute pleasure to deal with.
