  1. Met up to try a few basses. We had had plenty of previous email conversations and he answered me honestly, fully, with knowledge and sensitivity, even when I asked dumb questions. It was therefore a real pleasure to finally meet up with this hospitable, knowledgeable and warm hearted guy.
    One of the best.

  2. I tried this Sterling recently on a recent trip down south. I would have seriously considered it myself if I didnt have my G&L to do the same job . It had a fast neck, excellent tone and was in super condition.
And a big bump for Chiliwailer, a hospitable knowledgeable and warm hearted guy, one of the best, from me, a committed Northerner ......now where's me whippet gone ?

Not sure what you mean here. If you mean that they are well put together and that quality was once again being sought after in the Fullerton factory, and also that these basses play superbly well due to the construction of the bass, then I agree that they are 'clunkily' made. If you mean something else then I'm at a loss to understand. I may not be an expert in Fender basses of this era but if my two are anything to go by then I'm very happy indeed to possess two clunky basses.

Just a personal opinion and apologies. Clunkily should have read chunkily. This was my impression of the (only ) two 1983s I have I tried, which had chunky necks for me. Delighted they are great for you.

Fabrocker, people are giving you good advice, and are being really polite to you despite your clear commercial intention of turning a quick buck. Of course this is your right, but now we know what you paid for it, you are probably alienating the very audience you are trying to sell to.
    Good luck

  4. I have tried this instrument and it's a cracking bass. Classic maple neck P bass tone, no dead notes and in superb condition.
I would have bought it, but found I need a jazz profile neck to fit my rather small hands.
Si is a great guy to deal with too.

Bassdog - the headstock front is nearly always darker than the rest of the neck on Fender basses of this era. This is very normal, but I cant remember why - think its the varnish Ill let Si explain as he has 'the knowledge'.

  5. Bought a small amp by post from Marty recently. It arrived special delivery, thoroughly packed, and in the original box with all the original bits, instruction manual etc. Superb.
It was an amp that had clearly been looked after, and it was sent with care and consideration. Very very pleased . Communications were great too. He kept me informed all the way .

In summary : a top man and a pleasure to deal with.
