Back in the 70's this book was recommended by my Bass Teacher [A BBC Sessionist/Jazzer called Joe Muddel ] Modern Reading text in 4/4 by Loius Belson. This is just Fantastic for Getting your reading chops together. Lots of good syncopated stuff. Impresive CV. Every one from the Jackson 5 to Barry White. A bit of an unsung hero really. He is proberly More known for his Sax playing with the Jazz Crusaders / Crusaders. Another thumbs up for Toto here. David Hungate was the Bass player for the first 5 or 6 years. Then Mike Pocoro took over until the present time. Garry

He was Moaning about PC's not up to the standard of His Mac...they are slow.. I had to send him to Audio Tweeks for XP. How the F... do these People get these jobs.? Mac vs PC Arguments went with Dick Turpin. I use Both .Both have Faults,Both have great points. Its knowing your software. I am amazed at folks who dont,or can not be arsed , Then blame the programme. Garry

    Not sure that Cubase does fall down compared to others. They pretty much do the same these days. You will always get users saying this is better because..Blah Blah. Its just finding what works best for you. OT... I even had a Music Tech Teacher telling me the other day that Macs have a better sound than windows... [Not much hope for his pupils] We know that it is down to sound cards. And if the Audio is not even leaving the computor... That dont even come into play.. Garry

    I am a Nuendo user... But have given Reaper a Try.[you just have to, dont you.! ] And yep it is very good. For my own preferences i find it lacks a lot on the midi side of things, Compared to say , Cubase/Nuendo. But the Bussing side is geat. The plugs/Efx that come with it seem pretty good. I am really surprised that folks on a tight budget dont go for it, As opposed to the cut down versions of the major DAW's. Its pretty feature packed for the price to be honest. Good luck with it.   17. I Had a custom 6 string through neck , shaped a bit like a Wal. A guy called Jeff Finch made it for me in 1989. Emg soap bars and Eq. The Bass Gallery sold it for me in in 1999. I would like to know where it is , and if it is up for grabs. I will post some pics later if i can find any. Garry
  18. I've got rhythm... [Think The Flintstones Theme] Learn this chord sequence and it will set your ears up for a life time of Busking... Then you can do away with the books... As someone has said.. There is a PDF Disc around with tons of tunes. Or the Pocket books are a good start. Garry

Or come into my backroom and have a look , but dont tell anyone? Or Replying to what ? , an advert in the paper...Ebay? I am not sure there would be anything wrong in naming the shop..surely..?? Sorry for probing , just curious Even so if it was genuine..buy it and give to the Jamerson family... You would get on there family photo's

The 9-5 or day job part or whatever you want to call it [shows /sessions/cruises or whatever you do] And the fun work..just dep out the 9-5 gig.... Then do the fun / Jazz or small paid gigs. You may well ask , why do the bread and butter gig if you dont like it , [if it is just driven by finance.] Simple.. Well paid , and you get to see the world as a bonus. And you can still do the fun gigs. And as Jakesbass has said.... Most full time Musicians i know , seem to have a good standard of living. And not live of cat litter and in a one bedroom pokehole .
