  1. I go to gigs to observe the musicianship of the artists and, where suitable, freak the hell out. People who just use a performing band as a backdrop to some night out annoy the sh*t outta me. Fair enough, you're not obligated to watch, but use the part of the pub/club not currently being occupied by those of us performing/admiring a performance.
  2. I have to be honest, I've never been mad about Ashdown. I appreciate their ruggedness and straightforwardness, as well as the transparency you can get from them. But I do love the way the Sansamp colours the tone. Those Evo heads are nice though!
  3. Uncertain, I tend to usually use whatever backline the venue/other bands bring along. I would be quite keen to pair this up with a nice big Trace 1x15 though! Or perhaps a Markbass for portability.
  4. I was led to believe the VTDI is essentially the BDI with a couple more features (cab sim etc)? That and being arguably more dedicated to being an SVT clone than the BDI is. Never tried one myself!
  5. I'm a devoted Sansamp user. I swear by the thing, I borrow plenty of heads at gigs but the BDI has been my go to more often than not for several years. I borrowed one of these VT heads for a gig once and I've been GASsing ever since. This has replaced my Eden WTX 264 which, while quite a nice head, got used literally once for a rehearsal. When you're playing with bands that'll lend you and SVT-3 Pro, the Eden doesn't really get a look in. I'm very happy with this! The Sansamp stuff is always so warm and musical to my ears, and having a better version of the BDI attatched to a 500w power amp is a match made in heaven IMO.
  6. That's the idea! Now to re-learn all of "Human" and fail at learning "Focus" again. Lol.
  7. You and your bargains! I love that Edge body shape and I'm feeling for another fretless. If only this was a 4-string and 34", it wouldn't still be available!
  8. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Dean-Edge-4-Flame-Top-Fretless-Bass-Black-Satin/29SI#full-des Mmm. Yes. Oh my. Appears to be out in October.
  9. Badonkadonk. Not interested on trades, thanks for offers! Unless anyone out there has say, a TRBX305/505 + cash, a newer BB 5-string, or something along those lines, in equally nice shape.
  10. Stumbled upon this little beauty in a local 2nd hand music shop. It had just came in the same day! I don't know the exact model or year but I know they don't make these ones anymore, just the cricket bats for some reason (why is that? the M/GR shapes are so cool). Been a while since I owned a 6 string. I was actually looking for an ugly pointy metal guitar as I've agreed to cover for my friend's death metal group for a couple of shows over the summer, but I hardly ever see these anywhere so how could I say no? I know it's not a "true" Steiny but it looks the business! Must be 15-20 yrs old at least and not a mark on it!
  11. This thread kindof makes me miss my VM Jazz, it was sexy white with a red tort plate, Rosewood board. Best colour for a Jazz IMO along with black/black plate/maple board and Sunburst/black plate/RW board.
  12. Doing more research, I would go and try one as they're only in Redhill down the road, but it appears they don't have an actual shop and are online only!
  13. I suppose the simple answer is to pull the trigger on one and see what happens! But unlike the HB fretless Jazz (of which there are plenty of good reviews and costs a bank-breaking £130) this has next to nothing about it online.
  14. I've been poking around for an inexpensive 4 string to have a beater fretless lying around, since I got rid of my Portamento, and came across this on ebay: https://www.runwayproaudio.com/roxonix_roxtone_black_flatwound.htm There's a few different colours and configs. Cost is less than £250. Very little information or reviews online, bar one positive review on an ebay listing. Can it be any good? The body is "Lime Wood" which appears to be Basswood? There's a few different designs/configs with different pickups, including a white J/J which does look quite tasty on paper IMO. Does anyone out there know anything about these?
  15. At present yes, I could swap my MIM Jazz for a VM 70s Jazz and get by fairly well.
  16. Bump, now an absolute steal at £650. I would much rather this go to one of you guys than have to go through the tedium of Ebay! Am based nr. Reading and am happy to arrange courier!
  17. Trying to shift something similar. Objectively a superb bass, just not for me. GLWTS!
  18. Bump! Hit me up for a nice deal on this fantastic quality bass. Offers considered! - Based in Reading
  19. Here's my black 'n maple MIM Standard I tricked out with a black plate...not much but I love it and it's served me very well! Once it gets "retired" from my band I have plans to get a Status fretless neck on there, and probably put some different p/ups in.
  20. I hate this thread. By which I mean I love it and am deeply jealous of you all.
  21. I saw this on the Gear Exchange group! I tried a BB435 myself at the Yamaha shop this weekend, never played one (except for an old 80s fretless) before and was really impressed by it. This one doesn't seem to have the extended bridge bit for the B. Is it still a 34"? At a guess the other BB's must be 34.5 on the B, just out of curiosity This really is a stunning bass and funnily enough I almost got that SRC805 at one point. If only!
