I get your point SH73 but working in the field I can only say we are spoiled by having OFCOM managing radio spectrum for us.
In the EU and especially the USA it's a very different story in terms of time & cost implications trying to clear frequency space to use.
IMO&E the charge for the Channel 38 license is well worth it knowing you're good to go, interference free (from Freeview, 4G, etc), UK wide.
I guess this is where the 2.4 GHz equipment neatly caters for those that don't want to pay for a license and where it doesn't matter e.g. jamming at home.

    Makes sense

No point in arguing semantics with me, I'm just telling you how it is.
If you think it's wrong or unfair then its OFCOM you need to take it up with. :)

No intention to argue. It's like the government wants to charge to breath air. No idea who IFCOM are but reckon it's an agency that had the electromagnetic field pattended.

    Yes

You may own your home, but you don't own the frequency spectrum.

Disagreed, nothing but electromagnetic waves as they occur in space and in the everyday environment. They are not tangible and not manufactured.

  4. I've cone across this video and love the bass sound starting @ 1:20 mins.Particularly when Homer plays the scale.Any ideas what settings they are etc. Sounds like Flatwound and pick.

Not exactly sure how to title this or if I've even got the right part of the forum, I have searched but I don't even really know exactly what terms I'm looking for, anyway, here goes...

I want to be able to play along to MP3s on my computer with my bass plugged into said computer and listen either through headphones or a pair of speakers. I doubt I'll ever do any recording though that is a possibility. This is mainly for learning stuff and when I have to be doing so quietly and can't move my bass rig to where my computer is.

I've been looking at various USB powered audo interfaces but the info I can't find is whether I can, basically, play along to the song I'm listening to and have my bass come out the same speakers.

Pretty limited budget for purchases - max about £40 (just bought an MTD KZ5 and then got asked by a friend to play on something he's working on which I need to learn...)

On my very short short-list are the Behringer 302USB Xenyx 5 Input Mixer and ALESIS Core 1 USB Audio Interface - sound quality isn't a huge issue... would be nice for it be halfway decent though.

Any help and advice greatly appreciated.

I use Scarlet Focusrite 2i2. But I like the amp sound recorded via a mic not the di sound. It came with Ableton live lite daw.

Maybe a bit too weird for export. Apparently it's a Jolana Disco Bass.

You're correct. Was my first bass. Awful pups.

Since I somehow managed to end up with 7 guitars, I Know it's not enough by basschaters norm, I need storage. I considered a rack. But to me it looks untidy and guitars gets covered in dust.So I found some good ideas on pinterest.I particularly like the ikea cabinet.

Can you contribute to this thread with ideas to help each other out. Also how do you store your cables?

My opinion, for what it's worth (not really a Maiden fan, I play with a pick etc. etc.)

    It sounds good to me.

Playing seems pretty spot on and if you're trying to achieve the Harris live sound, your close.... plenty of clankiness (wasn't the studio sound a bit more rounded.... compressed?)

I take it that you are using big fat roundwound strings (preferably Rotosound SH signature).

    Nice one mate,

    Cheers
Just learning how to use compression.I didn't want to kill the sound so left it raw as it came out the amp. The strings are Flatwound SH Sig rotosound. The sound and video is not quite sync.but good enough for me.

Maybe you need to ask yourself what you are trying to achieve with your videos - it's difficult to give good constructive criticism without knowing what you are trying to achieve, e.g. a good performance video of you rocking out would have different criteria to a more educational playalong aimed at showing viewers clearly how to play the song in question.

Achieve nothing. Perhaps criticism on sound as in does it need better mix compression etc
