    Is that a serious question?
My guess is that it is.
In case: No, I'm not on drugs. I never am, nor am I ever drunk.
Why would you ask the question?

Only messing! There's only one Steve Harris.

  2. Finally, I got around to replace the stock bridge with Fender high mass bridge (looks like bad ass) on my P bass.
Both bridges have five holes but spacing is not identical. Should I use wood filler to fill holes and drill new holes at the same line or move the bridge forward and drill new holes.
    Any advice?

Ah. You're mistaken then. I'm very much a basschatter, though I use the JTUK login name most of the time, and BassTractor and the other mentioned ones slightly less often.
You may call me Mr Harris or simply JTUK.

    Are you on drugs?

  4. Had one for over a year and it's the most used bass out of three for the following reasons.
The neck is very comfortable and it sounds great. I remember the initial reaction when I first played it. It sounded raw and punchy I swapped the pick ups but will revert back to stock pick ups to get the sound back.
The only drawback is the signature on the headstock and the thumb rest.
I can't fault the vintage Olympic white colour and the maple neck.

Therapy? Doing an acoustic show at the Union Chapel on Thursday night. Absolutely brilliant show...oddly, not especially for the music. More the intimate setting and relaxed between song banter, every song a sing along, a lot of story telling, etc

Sadly the bass was a bit anonymous.

Also, no booze inside the venue because God objects. Just one more reason to be an atheist

Hip flask or travel coffee mug. Don't think the mystical being could tell what you drink 😉

  6. Going to see Steve Harris British Lion at Folkestone tonight. My wife may not be able to come through sickness so I may trade the spare ticket for a pint.
This will be a last minute notice depending on how she feels so will suit a local basschatter.Let me know if you're interested. I'd prefer if the ticket went to a Steve Harris fan.

There is a song Called Baby Got Back. Its a bit of a tongue in cheek MTV rap type song from days gone by. The opening lines are

"I like big butts and I cannot lie"

Your thread title brought to mind the lyrics to that song. It's not on youtube though, he must be one of those people that doesn't like his songs on there. Anyway, hope that clears it up!

I like dead flats too by the way, the deader the better. Sorry I derailed your thread.

Cheers...a bit off the title by the first responder but never mind.
    Have a good evening

No it's not that, I was referring to the earlier post. Its a reference to a song by Sir Mix a Lot.

I do like your tone though in your vids. Very nice.

I'm completely lost and don't get the response to my dead flats at all!

Sir Mix a lot - Baby Got Back

    Have look on youtube!

I must admit that when I saw the title 'I like dead flats' that song sprang to mind instantly!

If you mean my you tube video then i use new strings and various amp settings etc. In order to get as close to SH sound as I can, but when I play my own tracks I prefer the dead flats sound on my other Pb to the blue one or the growly jazz bass.
I find the dead flats sut better in my mix.

Well, technically, reverb is, effectively, a combination of a multitude of 'delays' all superimposed, such as the effect of a cathedral, or large cavern. A single 'delay' is often simply a single repetition, as an echo from a mountain cliff. In practise, they are different effects, which can be used together or individually to great effect (groan...). Do I have any luck with this..? I have, amongst others...) a Fender Bassman 50w, an 'old-school' valve amp. I play guitar through this, into a Fender Bassman 2 x 15 cab (see pic...). To obtain a more fulfilling sound, I play through a Boss Fender Deluxe pedal (in the pedal-board on the right in the photo...), with which I can add delay, reverb and/or overdrive. It sounds fine to me (bear in mind that 1 - I'm 'old-school', and 2 - getting progressively more and more hard of hearing. I've used this same rig for the last 40 years or so, though, so I'm beginning to know how to set it up for my 'style'.
If we're talking home practise, that may be a bit too voluminous for some (not for me; I have all the space I need...), but the notion of playing at home into a (quality...) bass amp, with a reasonable pedal or multi-effect, seems fine to me. What's the alternative, if one is really looking for 'that' guitar sound..? A Fender Twin..? At home..? An inexpensive combo would be fine, but the Aguilar rig will do a good job, too, I'd say.

    Very cool rig
