If you're patient you could build...

I'm working on a Precision and so far it's cost me:

£52 for the Squier body, neck and a load of parts.

An old Badass bridge I had, but there are decent quality ones on ebay for cheap (even Fender Badass copies for under £50).

£35 for some Shadow pickups (the Squier ones were weak and a shop had this as old stock).

£20 for CTS pots, a Sprague cap and a Switchcraft socket.

£30 for a scratchplate (in a job-lot).

£50 for a Mighty Mite fretless neck, including machines.

£20 for a set of strings.

£10 for a pair of Straplock buttons.

£10 for a 4-hole neckplate with an "F" on it.

£55 for a Hipshot D-tuner (guessing you wouldn't need one of these).
It is a very nice bass!

I'll probably replace the body at some point - had been thinking about a Warmoth (as you know from my J-bass thread), the scratchplate isn't the best fit and I might go for better pickups if the mood takes me.

The point is, though, that I've made up a good bass for well under your budget, so there's no reason you couldn't too!

Hi, Out if interest, where did you get the parts as I am after a p bass body and p bass neck with tuners for a project.

After trying a few, I settled on my Squier Matt Freeman sig. Not because I like Mr Freeman himself (in fact I'd never heard of him!) but because it just screams quality. And you could get three for the price of a used US P!

This. I never heard of him or Rancid until I bought the bass. I had spb 4 then spb 1 in. I then reverted back to stock pups as they sound great with the bass.the neck is comfortable. I have the Olympic white and it looks awesome to me.
    These are niw discontinued.

    Prior to using the Boss unit I was very happy with this;

Ridiculously cheap and a lot of pedal for the money.

  4. My father in law wants to get an echo pedal. He has been using an ancient tape delay.
I looked at tc electronic pedals but difficult to advise from online reviews only.
He needs it predominantly for microphone use and some elektro acoustic guitar.
Anyone has any experience with echo pedals?

I thinking of making a Steve Harris replica out of a cheap P-Bass.

Anyone have any idea of what paint to use to achieve the blue sparkle finish. Is there a spray paint that would do the job?

    Cheers!

I'd save up and buy a second hand one. You won't regret it. I picked up one on here.

I've got welding tools from the wife for Christmas but I've a few more things in my watch list including a big bottle of gas which can't be posted so I might see if I can collect it while I'm off. We had a new car this year so that has wiped us out, jam sandwiches for Christmas at our house :)
