  1. I recorded with two mics. One in front of dustcap and one on the edge of cone. The recorded sound was better than through interface. I ran the bass through a bass pedal. Good sound. Little tweek and I ll get what I am looking for.

I don't use live but, it sounds like you have a high buffer setting.
Or, Live is using the Realtek drivers.
You shouldn't need to use the asio4all drivers. The Focusrite drivers should be up to the job.

Have you looked at these videos?
I think it's a nine video series. It should help you understand a bit more.
The guy is using Mac, but does reference PC options.
When choosing the input, just use the Focusrite option.

  3. Cheers for the replies gents.I sorted tge issue eventually before reading the responses. I needed asio4all. It strarted working well for strange reasons. The you tube videos are good but not enough info fir windows. Suppose I need a di box or a mic to get the desired sound. Do you gents like your 2i2 and what Daw do you use? Thanks

  4. Is focusrite as good as they say it is. I bought one last week. It's my first device for recording. It comes with ableton live 9 lite and plug ins. The latency is bad, I use Sony Vaio with Windows 7 intel core i3 laptop. Have both realtek and asio4all installed. Most tutorials use mac even the ableton tutorials. Any suggestions on latency?

  5. Yep! :)

The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and 2i4 are very good quality 'budget' interfaces. I use a 2i4 myself, as it has the additional output sockets I need.

Dead easy to use. No latency (on my system) and the recording quality is good for the money.

There will always be better, more expensive options if you want to spend money. But for £100-£150 the Focusrite Scarlett products are great.

I just bought Focusrite scarlett 2i2 and cannot rid off the latency with windows 7. any suggestions?

You won't need to, unless you fancy upgrading the pots.
If you do, give Kiogon a shout. He makes up high quality kits, consisting of everything you need. It will drop right in and you won't even need to solder your new pups in, as there is a connector which will allow you to screw the cables in. :)

    Who is Kiogon.

  7. This bass feels and sounds like a beast. Most people say it's heavy with chunky neck. I went to a music store and tested one today, played IM riffs with ease. My fingers aren't long and had no issues. The only disadvantage is that I was unable to buy it as we are expecting a baby, and already own four guitars and two amps. The bass looks, feels and sounds great. Not a WH fan but the FC crest would not bother me at all.

  8. I am thinking buying SPB-4 pups to replace tge manufacturers pups on my Matt Freeman squier bass. Purely as I want to be able to get closer to Steve Harris sound. I am aware that there are other aspects to sound like him. My question is, would I need to rewire tge electronics ir add anything as SPB-4 are different frequency. Many Thanks

There are a few isolated bass tracks on YouTube. If you listen, you will here how sloppy he is! Poor. If they are him? Which I think they are!

You might think he is sloppy, but neither you or any other bassist out there have as much as passion, drive and determination to achieve what Steve Harris has . I've listened to different bass isolated tracks by other artists but I love Steve's style. He is unique and his isolated tracks, if it's him, sound raw and powerful.
