I would hazard a guess that many people following and maybe commenting on this thread have yet to purchase their first handbox product.As someone who did and ended up with a deal that went sour i think its only right to point out that there is always another side.I have no issues with the quality of handbox equipment,indeed if my situation had been resolved correctly i would probably be playing through a handbox amp now

Ive followed this thread with interest from the start.This led me to buying a pair of handbox cabs and my journey starts on page 14.As far as my understanding of consumer law goes if the goods are damaged in transit then it the responsibility of the retailer/manufacturer to either replace or reimburse the customer to the full value of the goods.Unfortunately this did not happen in my case so if the amp in question has been damaged in transit then i hope you have better luck than me.Caveat Emptor

Do none of you handbox afficianados fancy some handbox cabs to go with your new amps

I had never played fretless but i bought an ibanez portamento.really easy to play with great tones available.its unlined but has tiny fret markers that are allmost invisible to anyone watching.only sold mine when my jazz gig finished.i would think you would find one for your price bracket

The bottom cab is a copy made by a mate of mine and finished by me..cheers.full rig for sale if anyones interested.

Ive recently built 2 x 51 style precisions.both fitted with spirit pickups by alan dingwall.superb pickups at a very fair price.highly recommended.

I had the 4 string version for a few years.i liked the almost invisible fro m the front postion markers.wide variety of tone also.only thing for me was a slight sticky feeling to the neck.only sold itwhen my jazz gig came to an end

Thanks passinwind for a comprehensive reply.i realise its quite a complicated idea.I wondered if one of the controls on the tone pots could switch to passive mode when switching the voltage off.Im not keen on the modern styling with 4 or 5 knobs and prefer a simpler look.might have to have a rethink. Im now onto my 3rd 51p bass build but want to do it a little different. In addition to the single coil pickup im going to add a mm pickup but i still want it to look clean with just 2 knobs.So im thinking dual concentric volume control,and a dual concentric bass/treble control with a mm type preamp.Also the abilty to switch it to passive and have one of the tone knobs become a passive tone control.I wouldnt mind a couple of mini switches.ie pickup selector and battery switch(for passive selection.Is there anyone on here able to build a preamp to do this.cheers
