Royal Blues, @ Off the Cuff, Herne Hill, that London.
Support band slot to The Road, so not the usual crowd for our brand of blues based Americana. Only 2 backing vocalists this time, and stunning work by the ladies in rejigging the 3 part harmonies.
@Al Krow of this parish was in attendance (turns out we share a singer) so I was hyper aware that any bass fluffs would be immediately noticeable to at least one person in the audience 😆.
The venue is in the arches of railway bridge, and it was quite noticeable when trains were going over, but fortunately not when we were playing.
Fun gig, I think we played well.
Ibanez UB804 -> Getaria wireless -> Digitech BP355 -> FOH / Warwick Pro Fet 3, Calsborough 4x10.
Some clips of the gig on The Facebook story thing, listen with headphones or decent speakers:
Footwear: maroon creepers.

We're going to be doing a bit of that ahead of our New Year's Eve gig.

Electric Soup, 90s and 00s indie classics, hence the yellow bucket hat you can see poking out at the back.
No car-crashes, good fun gig. Punters were sat at tables due to where we had to set up in the pub, but we had people dancing at times at the back.
The BH800 worked well with the tone prints meaning I didn't have to take 2 extra FX pedals.
Shuker 3 -> Getaria wireless -> TC Electronics BH800 -> Orange 4x10 isobaric cab (+ DI from amp into PA for FOH volume control).
Footwear, maroon creepers.

Bootsy's old bass? If it's not good enough for Bootsy it's not good enough for me! 😜

"This bass retains the original strings that were on it when the consignor received it in 1977."

Dress rehearsal for tonight's gig. 90s and 00s indie classics. It was at Tweeters near Leatherhead. Big room full PA. Proper drum kit which the drummer always sounds better on, we use an electric one at our usual private place.
In my never ending quest to find the one amp solution, I recently bought a TC Electronics BH800 bass amp. If I was to write a review of the BH800, I'd say it doesn't sound as good as other class D amps (my TecAmp Puma for example) until you start using the tone prints for the basic sound.
Unfortunately there are only 2 tone prints, and I've loaded them with the 2 different dirt/fuzz effects I need for this band.
Fortunately, one of the guitarists is lending me his Orange isobaric 4x10 bass cab, which sounds great. It's 8ohm and the BH800 (allegedly) kicks out 400w at 8ohm which is enough.
We ploughed through the set and tidied up the 2 new songs we've added.
TLDR it was great fun, and very good for my mental health.

Wunjo's have always been great to deal with in my experience. Shout out to Tom H. and Laurence in the bass section.
Laurence is my go-to guy 🎸

Was listening to the Rokonteurs episode earlier. Quite poignant knowing he's gone 😟
I was never into The Stone Roses, but I liked playing his bass lines (in the same way I wasn't into disco but love playing Bernard's lines). In the 00's the band I was in used to play 'I am the resurrection '. That opening bass riff always got a great response.

Royal Blues (originals Americana), at The West Hampstead Arts Club. It was either a bus ride for 3 stops from Kilburn, or a 10 minute walk. What Google maps didn't say is that the walk was uphill 😖 (and it started raining).
We were a support band, second out of three. Soundcheck at 6, so of course we were soundchecking at 6:45 (Showtime 8:15, actually onstage nearer to 8:45).
It's a small venue, 30 punters make the place look full, which was fortunate...
The sound person was great, onstage balance was good, and FOH sounded good according to punters.
The 2 new songs debuted at the previous gig were included and went down well.
Ibanez UB804 -> Getaria wireless -> DI.
Footwear - maroon creepers.
This was the back of the stage. In front of the drummer and myself was the guitarist, lead vocalist, and 2 backing singers.

Slowly working our way through our songs recording our first batch of demos.
All recorded in Logic, drums are Roland V drums running through Superior Drummer 3, guitars and bass DI through Neural Amp Modeller. There are a couple of mic'd up guitars here and there.
Hope you enjoy, any and all feedback welcomed
A doom band not influenced by Candlemass? 😱
😉
Nah, seriously, good stuff! 😈

It would be nice to move away from headphones for home practice, so one of these could be ideal.
How could I play along to songs I'm learning with it?

Snapdragon folding bass guitar.
29" scale neck.

Naive - The Kooks
Horrible song. The bass line is different all the way through 😖

Royal Blues at The Troubadour, Earls Court, that London.
4 bands, though not remotely similar. Pretty much a capacity crowd, not bad for a Thursday night. We were up for it, lots of friends and family in the (paying) audience. Played two new songs, which went down well.
The house bass rig was an Orange 4 stroke bass head and Orange cab. I set everything flat with the compressor half way. It sounded glorious.
Ibanez UB804 -> Airbridge wireless -> Orange 4 stroke bass amp -> Orange cab.
Footwear -> Maroon brothel creepers.
A couple of pics by the audience from Thursday...

I shall speak nicely to @neepheid about this. I have zero issues with lending it out.
I know he will have space for a bass from North Yorkshire to the Bass Bass, however that might limit his options when he passes near Guitar Guitar in Birmingham

TBF that does sound like a nice day out ☺️

How was your gig last night?

Ta. FOH was just from the BP355. The Amp sim set to 'DI' and EQ'd specifically for the UB804.
Otherwise it's all in the fingers! 😉
