This was already dated when Blink 182 and Avril Lavigne were doing the same exact song 20 years ago...
Curious that the F word is acceptable, but the shortened version of Richard is not.

I like the simple clean aesthetic, but
Pickups H - 1 Ceramic Humbucker
is a bit vague. Anyone know anything more about them?

I'd pay money NOT to listen to this 😉
I've got plenty of songs I'll let you pay not to listen to 😜

I've seen versions of the Glitter band a couple of times, since Gadd got convicted, brilliant gigs they played all the Gary Glitter hits, went down a storm, I suppose if Gary's not playing them it's different, great songs.
Still not sure how the Michael Jackson legacy seems to escaped his very dodgy past
He sold the rights to his songs so doesn't earn any money from them anymore.

Did anyone watch it?

hiding in plain sight
We hear this phrase a lot, but I don't think there was any hiding. People knew what was going on, maybe not the general public, but certainly within the industry, and as long as the perpetrators were bringing in the money the behaviour was tolerated.

Second rehearsal with the full line up: vocalist; guitarist; drums; bass; and 3 backing vocalists.
I was using my Boss ME-50B to experiment with dirt on the bass, I'd programmed a couple of patches that seemed to work, but I'd completely forgotten to do a 'clean' patch 😖
So some deft volume matching with the amp was called for.
Guitarist who is the BL reckons we'll be gig ready in 3 more rehearsals.

He told me one of his regular session gigs is playing with Samantha Fox, and what am I doing in a couple of months time as there’s a gig their regular bassist can’t do. I told me I’m not a session guy and I have a full-time day job so I’m not sure about that thing. He said, “Oh the songs are easy, and it'll be a case of fly into Lithuania on the Friday, gig Saturday and home again Sunday"!
Saw this and thought of you... 😉

Ah well in that case I reckon you'd be out. You can sell as many basses as you like but the acquisition of any gear coming back in I fear adds up to disqualification.
Buying means receiving an item, but paying doesn't necessarily mean receiving anything, or at least not immediately.
So if I pay a deposit for a custom build, I might not receive it until next year, so would that mean I was still in?

The thing with the US is that the overall audience size is so massive
The population of the USA is around 340 million, and the UK around 68 million, so why is there is not a difference of 392% (approx) in certification for album sales?
Gold certification:
USA 500,000
UK 400,000
Platinum certification:
USA 1 million
UK 600,000

A quick look at Sam Fox's discography on Wikipedia, shows she had 3 Gold albums in the USA, and featured in the Top 10 of their Hit Parade 3 times.

I've been asked to step in to replace a bass player at a monthly jam session (A group leader with a few supporting players ... including bass and a large gang (30ish) of folks who join in).
I received the 'setlist' a week or so back and an familiar with about half the songs, the other I've hit up on youtube. All the song sheets have simple chords and we'll have them on stands as we play.
I do not imagine that the group is expecting a Guy Pratt level of performance, I suspect that roots/thirds with the occasional twiddly bit will do nicely (And this is in my skill set), but ...
- First time with this group
- Playing up at front
- Only bass player ... so flipping obvious if/when I screw up
I sorta know that this is in my capabilities but my tummy is jammed full of butterflies and they are very active!
I wondered what tips/techniques/advice BC massive can offer to help deal with these nerves/imposter feelings?
Sam x
There was a time that Jaco couldn't play harmonics. There was a time that Victor Wooten couldn't double thumb. There was a time Billy Sheehan couldn't tap.
The point is we all go through a learning process. So don't think of yourself as an imposter, and just enjoy 😎

Last night was the first rehearsal with the full line up, the rest of the full line up being the 3 backing singers.
Sounding pretty good, gonna be fun when we start gigging 🙂

So way before "digital" this and that on all those old jazz records Motown cuts the guitar/bass players are out of tune?
For the guitarists very most probably.
There is a difference between perfect tuning and well tempered tuning. Some guitarists really notice it on the F# on the high E string, and tune by ear. But by a digital tuner it would be out.
IIRC it was an old jazz guitar trick, to tune slightly sharp (we're talking microtones here) as it made the solos stand out.

Write the theme tune, sing the theme tune...
Great bass line though.

Andy Partridge, XTC. Another genius who should get way more recognition.
Genius? No doubt extremely talented, but if we compare to an acknowledged musical genius such as Beethoven can we really call Partridge a genius?
