  1. Mine offended me so much, i took a jigsaw to it.
  2. ‘Coming soon’, apparently. https://www.madridhifi.com/p/epiphone-jack-casady-bass-left-handed-metallic-gold/ positive signs. 😃
  3. Ive signed up to be notified when in stock. Not sure if i will be able to resist if it comes in. 😳
  4. Interesting! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Left-handed-luthier-built-status-style-headless-active-bass-stunning/333625695326?hash=item4dada41c5e:g:lTQAAOSwPGNe5m~S
  5. Ironically, just read that Rogers main bass since the Wall tour (from the three basses originally bought by the band), has a Charvel neck (Replacing original RW one), with a dodgy Fender logo applied. The ‘red dot’ bass that everyone refers to is the one David Gilmour has.
  6. I’m not ashamed to say that this will be a faker. Being a leftie I’ve had a lifetime of music shops with zero guitars for me. This is why I started to make my own. Granted Fender have now started to make the Player Precision, but for yonks all that was available was the Jazz. I want a Roger Walters (tribute) Bass. Not available in leftie. Do Fender make a left hand maple neck that I could buy? Nope. Hence the faker decal on my own neck. Not trying to deceive anyone other than myself 😉
  7. Parts mockup whist waiting the frustrating 2 weeks for paint to harden before sanding and polishing.
  8. In between layering top coats to the body, I thought I’d turn to the neck headstock. Back in 85, I painted my own logo. Tbh I was never happy with it..... As this is going to be a 60’s rep I thought I’d get me a Fender decal on it. First job was to Remove old logo. Then to balance sanding back to fresh wood. As it’s a 35 year old neck I did not want to loose all the aged and dark look of the headstock. You cannot see it too well in the pics, but I’m happy with graded end result. Decal applied without any drama!
  9. Nitro tack coat and first day spraying.
  10. Lol, hardly. But a Status was the inspiration back in 1985. Other dream dream bass at the time was a Wal bass with maple top. So, as I could not afford maple, I used sitka spruce and laminated it with mahogany. Bad choice. Looked ok, but had no resonance. 😞
  11. Thanks! The irony is that my best ever routing will be hidden by the pic guard. Lol
  12. Wanted to build a Roger Waters 71 bass. Black, 62 pickups and flats. Although I’ve built bodies before I wanted it to look authentic, So I got a GuitarBuild body. 3 piece alder. Amazing quality. Decided to route out trussrod access, as I hate the idea of taking neck off to adjust. Very happy with result, I enjoyed it so much I wish I had built the body. Lol
  13. First job was to remove the neck of a bass that I built in the 80s. Very glued in neck!
  14. A short time ago it occurred to me that I had enough ex-upgrade parts leftover to make a bitsa bass.
  15. Awesome. Great advice, I’ll give it a go!
  16. Bodge? Yes, tbh that is below even my low standards. 😉 I can see me buying 200ml super fine filler to use 0.0001ml to fill a pin prick. Then I’ll use my 2000grit paper to sand away 99% of the 0.0001ml of filler. And probably make it worse than the ordinal mark!

    Arrrg!

Putting together a bitsa P bass, using old Left over upgrade parts and a new GuitarBuild body. But while tacking on the bridge to make sure it all lined up I slipped and marked the body. GuitarBuild bodies are Pre sanded with 320 grit and as I was going to spray it with black nitro I did not plan to prep the body any more. As this mark is small, shall I ignore, although I get that black shows EVERY blemish? Or shall I fill and sand, although this could show more than just this tiny mark?
  18. Current dead strings makes me shy. However, if you can be bothered to dig through this thread I posted two clips on soundcloud. second clip is fingers but I tend to play hard. It has to be said, the Sire bridge pup struggled with volume against the HB and I struggled to hear it when mixed. So I got Kent/Aaron to make me a hot jazz to replace. Much better, and give me a great tonal pallet. Only use passive now! https://www.talkbass.com/threads/sire-bass-club.1144219/page-487
  19. I modded my v7, putting in a Kent Armstrong pup. Best thing I ever did. just a bit of routing and new pic guard. Made really good, better.
  20. Guitar build standard is 63.5. They can custom fit if you are worried about the 0.1 difference. https://www.guitarbuild.co.uk/collections/bass-necks/products/bass-neck-300476
  21. https://www.wdmusic.co.uk/electronics-c17/kent-armstrong-guitar-pickups-c100/kent-armstrong-bass-pickups-c101/kent-armstrong-hot-vintage-p-bass-pickup-alnico-p2483 I’ve emailed them to see if they are expecting restock soon. If they are not, I guess I’ll be re-reading the many ‘best P Bass pickup’ threads again. 😞
  22. Sire started off as Dame in Korea, until they hooked up with MM and started selling to US/EU market. http://www.dame.co.kr/m/electric.html Will be interesting to see how their guitars match up now they also have some endorsement and better distribution.
  23. I’m thinking that the answer is probably “nothing”, “very little” or “nadda”, but I thought I’d ask anyway. I’m just about to buy a guitarbuild PB body (alder) and I’m pondering whether to buy 2 or 3 piece. Cost difference is negligible and as I intend to paint it black I’m not bothered about the grain. My thinking is that a 3 piece, with its center block and ‘wings’ is tonally better than 2 piece with the join split through the neck? I know that necks are often constructed as a laminate, but I’m assuming that this is to help tone and torsion etc that would not apply to body. Let’s face it most Fenders except CS are 3/5/+ piece. I get there will be many many other factors in the build that will impact more than this, but I thought I’d throw it out to the BC collective before I commit to the order.
