My Cazpar and Elwood have the best actions I've ever played. I'd suspect that somewhere in its history david1711's bass has been attacked by someone with not much skill and no knowledge of reverse-action truss-rods. My basses came with a little maintenance & care booklet that explained how to adjust the action.

Both equally superb in slightly different ways but I want to stay faithful to the wood's 'natural' state. My wood-cutter mate Merv told me how they used to wipe off the stumps of the trees they'd felled while they were still wet with the rising sap. He reckoned they looked like shiny, natural wood table-tops that had been freshly wax-polished and laid out on the ground. That's the effect I'm after - over to you Andy

Hey Andy, what are you doing the kitchen in - faux fur, leather, or good old Osmo 3014? As long as you don't get mixed up and finish my bass with a coat or two of Dulux emulsion

That's an interesting post SpondonB - I often wonder why composites aren't more commonly used for guitar bodies. As you say, though, it's a tradition/heritage thing - and I'm sure that moulding carbon-fibre wouldn't give Andy the satisfaction he gets from working with natural materials.

My fault - I particularly wanted to retain the original controls.
