1. My GB ShuttleMax 12.0 is currently making its way across the atlantic and already I am thinking about effects units to go with it

Ideally I'd like a multi-effects unit that can plug into any one of the three effects loops  To do this I think they need to have a line level output

So, please let's have your suggestions :)

I went with an 12AT7 because I wanted a Mullard (from reviews on Finnbass) and that seemed the best mix of availability, price, quality and reduced gain level. Go with what you think is right - what works for my ears may not for you

  3.
Going to try this week the 12AU7 mod, apparently according to people on Talkbass it's less of a mod and more of a correction, removing a bottle neck from the design of the amp, giving it more headroom, more responsive volume controls and a more responsive mid control.
fwiw Mark's new Mesa already has a Mullard 12AT7 in the drive position. I think it makes a great difference and made the EQ much more responsive. Good luck and look forward to hearing how you get on :)

  4. I think Alex was a bit wary of posting sound clips as there are so many variables (e.g. quality of recording, type of amp / bass used, computer speakers etc.) and no sound clip can really convey what a fairly neutral sounding cab actually sounds like, how loud it can get, how it responds to EQ etc.

May be worth getting in touch with the nearest person on this list to see if you can arrange to try it out :)

  5.
Very, very nice amp. How you compare this to Orange AD200B. Do you know or is there anyone who can help?
Thanks - I haven't tried an Orange so can't really comment. I'm sure others on here may have experience of both, or maybe worth a search on here or Talkbass
